Whoever is putting his life savings into BTC is a fool.  Doesn't matter what will happen (I still think BTC long term is a very good investment, but regardless).

Never invest what you can't afford to lose.
Eh, my life savings amounts to diddly.  But I'm glad I put that diddly into Bitcoin in 2011... I may retire yet!
It went well, but it could have ended horribly bad.

If you invested something in 2011 you had all the time to accumulate without risking your "life savings".

I stand by what I said. BTC is still in early stages, investing more that you can afford to lose is not a wise choice, that's all I'm saying, regardless of what we can say in retrospect.

i wonder which market out there is "safe" so that i can invest more then i can afford to lose so i can win with no risk.

TRUTH!

Adam have you really bought into that Ether IPO scam?

yes.

Not wrong with gambling, thatīs the reason why we are here  Cheesy

I met the kid that is the driving force behind ether, if he doesn't make me rich idk who will.

According to your acct creation, you have been in the bitcoin scene since 2011.  Can you tell me why you are not rich already?

cloud hashing.

You mean you sunk all your money into cloud hashing, or lost all your money in cloud hashing?

so if a bank, gvt, NSA, or other malicious actor wants to do a 51% attack, they need to duplicate all the mines in the world like this one:

http://www.thecoinsman.com/2014/08/bitcoin/inside-one-worlds-largest-bitcoin-mines/

Scary. As. Hell.

One well placed missile and that entire building would be gone, along with it 5% of the entire bitcoin network.  I hope that these bitcoin facilities are hard to track down.  But with all the electricity it is sucking, I doubt it...

whose missile?  certainly not a US one.  neither a Chinese one; it's their gvt's ace in the hole if gold and UST's go kerplunk.

Can you say Terrorism?

well then, the US gvt would have to pay the consequences of its actions.

I'm just concerned that these bitcoin mining facilities, that are supposedly running the greatest worldwide virtual currency network ever seen on planet earth, have all the security & disaster hardening equivalent of a shabby convenient store.  In the near future we could be talking about $100+ Billion worldwide market here.

Even most corporate HA/DR data centers are better designed than this.

6727  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am so incredibly bored of bitcoin on: August 27, 2014, 03:03:22 PM
Go back and read threads of this sub from 2-3 years back.  Hilarious and enlightening.  Also, scary to notice that absolutely nothing has changed about the dialogue 2-3 yrs ago as opposed to today.  Without the post dates and price quotes, you'd think you were reading threads from this past year.

One major thing to notice from those old threads, is the posters' names.  Most of them no longer post in this subforum.  Reason?  They probably got bored of this sub after 9-12 months.  Or sold out, or pissed away all of their bitcoin and/or lost an interest in bitcoin.  Or all of the above.

See the point is, bitcoin has these extremely once-a-year rare moments of excitement, followed by months and months and months and months of downturn, trolling, bearishness, and boring-ness.  It's all just noise in between the spikes.

So if you don't find something else in it to keep your interest, or find something else to do in the meantime, you'll likely be gone from here soon as well.  Just like all those other posters from years back.

Final thought: Stay away from the never ending altcoin scene, it'll drive you insane.  There will be no end to the madness of the next "shiny new" overkill shit coin coming out every month for years to come.  Right now we might have hundreds of shit coins, in a few years we could literally have thousands.
6728  Economy / Economics / Re: If you are anti-Bitcoin or permabear, why are you here? on: August 27, 2014, 02:03:20 PM
I'm here because it's entertaining. It's entertaining to watch how wrong the bulls have been. And how wrong they continue to be.

I'm also here because I trade BTC.

Welcome to ignore.

6729  Economy / Economics / Re: If you are anti-Bitcoin or permabear, why are you here? on: August 27, 2014, 02:37:53 AM
So..why are you hear? To me, it seems quite obvious you aren't really pessimistic at all about Bitcoin's future. None of you is telling the truth. Well, certainly not the full truth.

..or are you guys like the Soccer Moms on Yahoo Answers responding to sex questions posted by 16 year old girls with answers like, "I got pregnant on my period 4 times...and I got AIDS *and* herpes from unprotected sex just one time!!" in a sad attempt to keep young girls from having fun that you yourself never had.

Enlighten us all. Why are you here?

They are only here because apparently years ago the Bitcointalk admins, in their infinite wisdom, decided that trolls should be able to have their day too... democracy, free speech and all that.

Umm, yeah.

So now we have sock puppet accounts being created 193930293493 times a day, just to troll this sub forum and spam the boards with constant troll-crap.  And apparently they never get banned.  If if they do, the trolls just create another throwaway account and troll some more.

Meanwhile, positive people and bitcoin believers eventually get squeezed out and run off by all the crap posting.  So with all the good people run off, all that's left is the trolls basically just reading and commenting on their own threads.  A troll-bear circle jerk.

Hooray.

....Meanwhile in Gotham City.....bitcoin quietly creeping up.  Shorts getting nervous yet?  Wait until we get close to 529...
6731  Economy / Speculation / Re: We have lift off! on: August 26, 2014, 06:31:31 PM
I've noticed that all the major tech stocks (Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, LinkedIn, etc.) have started to slowly pump since the beginning of the month.  IMO, this is a sure sign of a ramp up to new highs this fall.

If we look at Bitcoin, it was first knocked down a bit starting in the middle of the month, in order to liquidate the leveraged longs for better entry positioning.  Typical whale trader behavior (this happens in stocks too), before starting the next ramp up.  I believe this ramp is slowly happening now.  I guess we'll see how it plays out.

So are you buying those tech stocks (Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, LinkedIn, etc.) ?

I bought ~ $8000 of FB stock at $47/share back in Oct 2013, with the intention of holding until at least 2015.  But due to an unforeseen expense in March of this year, I had to sell at $68/share.  I still made money, but I was really upset at having to liquidate so soon.

Even at today's price of $75/share, I still wouldn't be surprised to see FB hit $100/sh or close to it by the end of the year.

Yes, it continues to amaze me how much brainpower is wasted on the internet trying to convince a SINGLE person to change their viewpoint on a topic, meanwhile absolutely nothing changes or gets changed in the real world for the hundreds of thousands of other people....    Roll Eyes

bitcoin to $4000 - $6000
litecoin to $150 - $250

litecoin, will never recover,
i don't see any point in that alt, bitcoin can use sidechain to gain everything it need, like fast transactions, litecoin is useless

Wanna put some money on it? Smiley

4 HR moving average just turned green.  I hope this isn't another false start.

Over the next couple days I think it'll be a slow grind up to 528, then bang! push through with volume.  And then panic buying will ensue.  Cheesy
6736  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 26, 2014, 02:10:17 PM
Haha, when price starts to slowly grind upwards, bears first get annoyed, then nervous, then angry.   Grin
6737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 26, 2014, 02:21:08 AM
I just bought another bitcoin.  Cheesy

C'mon guys, if everyone buys one, we'll rally.  BUY BUY BUY
6738  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 26, 2014, 12:26:14 AM

“South Korea has a booming e-commerce market and was an early adopter of virtual goods. The government supports innovation and even the banking foundation is invested in Korbit."

http://techcrunch.com/2014/08/25/korean-bitcoin-exchange-korbit-raises-3m-series-a/?ncid=twittersocialshare

I keep wondering when South Korea is going to help bitcoin bubble again like China did back in November.  There are some VERY wealthy South Koreans and investors, just a wealthy as many Chinese.  Gangnam anyone?
6740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 25, 2014, 09:17:07 PM
Bitshares X on a crazy pump, almost $ 100,000,000 marketcap
Can i short those somewhere ?

Would like to know as well.  All new scam-, er alt coins bubble within the first 2-3 months of launch.  Then it's all down, down, down.  But down slowly, so it looks like it will recover here and there on the way down, but never does as interest wanes and eventually falls off the map.
