5401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin has surpassed Bitcoin after halving 2016 but this time will different on: May 14, 2020, 03:16:19 PM
Investors are in better situation today than they were in 2016-17. It all started from 2018 when things changed a lot. At the moment Bitcoin is looking stable and rising but, it can still dive down by the end of this month. Altcoins might go up at that time, same as it was in 2016.

It is better to key an eye of Bitcoin at the moment. It is still below 10k and that is a good sign to accumulate more or take a position.
5402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to be invested in Crypto while staying away from gambling? on: May 14, 2020, 02:58:43 PM
I've been around the crypto scene since pre 2013 pump. Been around blackcoin pumps, pinkcoin pumps (all the color coin pumps), all the country-coin pumps (remember those?), every shitcoin known to man.

I even knew about ethereum (commented on page 4 or 5 on their announcement thread) and was a huge believer in the project. .....but instead of sending btc to their ICO site on a summer day in 2014, I sent it to nitrogen sports with the intention of making more btc to send to their ICO.

Throughout the years, I've done similar things with various alts: Monero, dark-coin (DASH), Cardano, you name it. I had them with hopes of holding onto them to watch their value grow...but couldn't...and gambled it away with 3AM challenger tennis, random soccer matches, or baseball over/unders (though, when I go on a binge, I actually start off pretty damn well, but get tilted the moment I lose a few times).

I'm a big believer in the crypto space but it's difficult for me to hold coins without gambling. The thing is, I have no issue controlling myself when I don't hold crypto. I could go to a casino or wherever and not have any urge to bet with fiat. Idk what it is about cryptocurrency. I just get so into certain coins that I want to make more so that I can get a bigger stack to hodl...but then by trying to get more the quick way, I lose it all.

Anyone feel similar?

How do you combat the urge to gamble with your cryptocurrency?

It is your money and whatever you do it is your decision. I have never had a chance of getting into big ICO's like Ethereum. If I had the opportunity I wouldn't have missed this opportunity. So the choice depends solely on you what you want to do with your money.
5403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 14, 2020, 02:52:06 PM
As far as i know SriLanka dos not have any indoor stadiums and seriously will the Indian fans will agree to host their favorite tournament in srilanka and not in their home ground India ?  Will the players from Australia, England and other countries willing to travel to srilanka to play the IPL ?
To avoid the potential loss, if BCCI decides to host this season on Srilanka, why not? It's true that a lot of fan would never love that but if possible it should be done and I think there will be no problem with players from other country to play in Srilanka.

I do not think BCCI and the government of India will agree in conducting the matches in Srilanka. The government not India has started a new mantra of self reliant and promoting anything locally. Now in such circumstances I do not think the government will allow  BCCI in hosting Indian Premier League in Srilanka.
5404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 13, 2020, 10:09:01 PM
Bilateral cricket crucial in post-COVID climate - BCCI treasurer

TLDR:
Q: How much loss if IPL doesn't takes place?
A: Around INR 4000 crore.... approximately $400 Millions?... please someone do the math Grin

Q : Priority from now on?
A : Health but if there is any opportunity available then would like to see IPL.

It is very much required but where can it be organized. I just heard that the situation will worsen more within a few months. The only option left is to organize these matches in empty stadiums. That also comes with high risk.

I guess they have to wait till June end to see if any opportunity will arise to conduct IPL.
5405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC Halving and its effect on gambling on: May 13, 2020, 10:00:31 PM
I do not see any correlation between halving and gambling. Bitcoin was stable prior to halving and is still. I think this might last for a few more months. It is a good sign as it will not affect the USD value of our profits as well as our loss significantly. Apart from that, I do not see any effect of halving.
5406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small Investors are losing Bitcoin by Investing in Altcoins? on: May 13, 2020, 09:47:55 PM
Read this post and its true how small investor are losing bitcoin by investing in other coins.

You can buy 8000 tokens in 1 USD when price of bitcoin is 8000 USD but if bitcoin price will rise to 16000 USD then you can buy 16000 tokens in same price. Now all token price does not move according to BTC price,it will drop 20-30% without any sign of drop, but when you will compare with bitcoin you will find that you are in loss.

https://cryptomaa.com/btc/how-small-investors-are-losing-bitcoin-by-investing-in-altcoins/

You cannot compare Bitcoin with others. Therefore the others are called altcoins. Investing in Bitcoin has been always profitable. Small investors think other coins or tokens might replace Bitcoin in the future and that is one of the reason they want to invest in salt. That is why they are also losing money.
5407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Partner Flare Preparing to Launch Smart Contracts on XRP (Big news!) on: May 13, 2020, 04:18:01 PM
Untill it is launched I guess the USD vakue of Ripple will remain the same. The last time it went above $1 was in 2017. Till today it is still stuck below $0.50

Last few weeks I have been hearing so much negative news about Ripple I guess this is one good news for the community.
5408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Big Debate of 2020: The Bitcoin vs Altcoin Market. on: May 12, 2020, 07:29:04 PM
Quite long but interesting article, really helpful especially for newbies into crypto/blockchain. Sometime in the past, i was in the opinion that there was no need for newer altcoin. But with time I understood that there is need since we need improvement in blockchain architecture, and other aspects. If everyone kept using BTC for transactions, and there was no altcoin, the network will be clogged every now and then. However, many now regard the king more like a store of value, which isn't a bad idea. I'm really impressed with some details on some top altcoins on the article, especially ETH and LINK. ETH project birthed smart contracts and the trending DEFI, which couldn't have been achievable if there was no other coin aside BTC. For a fact most people dump their altcoins whenever they are in profit, but hold BTC longterm, reason why BTC dominance persist with a wide margin.

Looks like this whole article is basically for newbies who do not believe in Bitcoin and what revolution it has created.

Altcoins have really impressed me with their innovations and the ability to adapt to the changing times.

But, it was Bitcoin that started this revolution, some might question me but you cannot deny history.

I have no doubt how efficient he is as a Manager.

I have been working with him for more than three months now and at times whenever there is an issue he is always there to help. He is very prompt and can be easily be reached 24/7 on DM.

I would highly recommend him as a bounty manager because of his ability to resolve issues fast and his witty messages every week.

5410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Secret Message Implanted in Bitcoin Halving Block! on: May 12, 2020, 06:58:31 PM
Satoshi’s Genesis message in first block which is mined in 2009:

“The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.”

Secret message in 2020 Bitcoin halving block

“NYTimes 09/Apr/2020 With $2.3T Injection, Fed’s Plan Far Exceeds 2008 Rescue.”

What do you think about it? I think it's great, don't you? If you see this, we love you Satoshi! Thank you very much for creating Bitcoin.

Interesting set of messages!

Well, there is nothing new about what these messages meant

But, it's nice to know about them. I guess he was trying to predict the future back in 2008.
5411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network, is it a good solution? on: May 12, 2020, 06:51:32 PM
Many people seem to be fan of LN while any others are directly opposing this. I'm not an old guy here nor I'm a techy guy in bitcoin. I only know the basic which I need. However, so far, LN seems to be a good addition. But why some people say it's not good?
What are the advantage vs disadvantage of LN? Can you please put your opinion? I would love to see the both side.

The biggest advantage of LN is the ability to increase the transactions per second figure of Bitcoin. 1 million transactions per second is possible with LN.

The best advantage, in my opinion, is ability to send only 1 satoshi to anyone who can accept it.

If bitcoin wants to compete with banks and their payment networks we need solutions like LN.
5412  Economy / Speculation / Re: The excitement is over, what's next? on: May 12, 2020, 06:45:08 PM
This should go to the price speculation board.

BTC Halving is over, there were lot of speculations on this but the majority failed.

You yourself have answered your query. In my opinion, no one here knows what will happen next?

All I know after this halving is that the next is in 2024. The demand for Bitcoin will grow but the supply is less now.

If history repeats the price should remain stable and whatever action you were expecting should happen next year.

5413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach an astronomical all-time new high. on: May 10, 2020, 11:27:06 AM
History might not repeat itself this time.

Past halving did not have a pandemic where globally people are struggling to survive, hence this halving you won't see Bitcoin price going high and niether next year.

This is the real test for Bitcoin and if it survies this situation then it can survive anything. I have full confidence that it will easily pass this test.
5414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 10, 2020, 11:15:23 AM
If South Korean league can start, why can't they start the IPL in the same way. They had zero spectators in the stadium. The same principle can be applied to IPL.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/may/08/korea-k-league-watch-live-stream-free-jeonbuk-v-suwon-bluewings

BCCI should look into this option. I do not think the government of India should have any issue, they have already started easing the lockdown. In my opinion after 17th of May if the lockdown is removed. BCCI should conduct the tournaments.

Lol do you even know, how many cases in South Korea? They almost finished Corona from South Korea, that's why they started some sports events. In India we are even not reached peak, how can we start any sports event?

There are states where the virus has been controlled to an extent. I think BCCI can look into those regions. Anyways the government has already started asking the citizens that they have to live with the virus, why not gradually start with sports. They have already given ease to most businesses now not to forget alcohol in particular.
5415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New App Lets Coronavirus-Hit Businesses Take Crypto Payments for Zoom Calls on: May 10, 2020, 10:15:45 AM
It's great to see crypto projects being recognized by major companies now, similar to what Zoom did. Zoom is now using SmartLinks for ETH, BTC, and more coins soon.
https://www.coindesk.com/new-app-lets-coronavirus-hit-businesses-take-crypto-payments-for-zoom-calls?amp=1

Will we see bigger companies like Netflix, etc. use crypto and blockchain soon? And how will the halvening impact our exposure?

That is good to hear!

I wish  big companies like Amazon also do the same in the future. It would be nice for them to accept alternate payment options. They can simply accept Bitcoin for making payment.
5416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: May 10, 2020, 10:09:01 AM
I salute you all for keeping this discussion thread active in times when there is no PSL/IPL or any other international cricket tournament due to coronavirus pandemic.
For many peoples in Sub-Continent cricket is life and cricket is every thing so we all need to keep this spirit up hopefully in near future we will able to talk about live games again as now Korean soccer starts and Germany is ready for soccer from next week.

Cricket will also resume soon and we will see again the crowd filled thrilling matches in the stadiums. Slowly the games will be resumed with more precaution environment so that players and the spectators are safe from covid-19 while playing & watching the match.
Yes, cricket will resume but with empty stadium. I do not think they will allow gathering of spectators. The Korean football league has also started but with empty stadium. This is possibly the only option left now. Nobody knows when will the vaccine will be out. In the meantime they can resume all sports activities like this.
5417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 10, 2020, 09:24:19 AM

5418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vaccine against Covid-19 should be made before sports events will take place? on: May 10, 2020, 09:09:09 AM
although letter A would be the best choice between the two. but letter B is the most realistic one. these sports coordinators will have no choice but to continue even if strict rules are implemented and I expect them to provide safety precaution for every audience that will be watching the sport live at the venue. my only thought is what type of sport will be allowed to do this? I don't expect every sport that has a sporting event will be allowed to do this even with strict precautions.

South Korea has already started using the option B.

South Korean K league football tournament has already started with zero spectators. Yesterday they had played a match. So it is evident that a vaccine may not come this year. Therefore people have to live with the virus now and gradually lockdown has to be removed.
5419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering More or Wagering Less on: May 10, 2020, 08:56:00 AM
Technically yes, the more you wager the more possibly the profit if you are lucky enough. But the risk on losing  is always there, If I am capable and  I have a lot of money to waste why not? but if the money I own is just for important things, I will never do such things it is too risky. I prefer wagering less and I am not prepared to lose a lot of money. Anyways we have our own perspective about it but this is my opinion.

Just remember people come in gambling to gamble and wager. So if they have  wagering competition it will be good for the players too. If you don't want to wager then why are you visiting the gambling site in the first place  Huh If you think wagering is dangerous then stay away from gambling sites.
That's not his point, he's just playing safely IMHO. I think he's just a casual gambler or the one that plays at his limit or just plays for fun not for money. He's the one that's gamble and know when to quit rather than chase his losses.

It is not compulsary if you waged high you will earn high. Chances are that you might lose everything that you have earned with just one wager. Higher the amount higher will be the risk.
5420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino workers, asking for salary during the shutdown on: May 10, 2020, 08:51:48 AM
I heard that some countries began to implement a plan to gradually launch the economy. And above all, industrial enterprises received work permits. I wonder when entertainment enterprises (casinos belong to them, I think) will receive similar permissions? This would help casino workers no longer depend on the goodwill of the government or employer.

Here in our country, we are gradually moving from enhanced quarantine to general quarantine on general quarantine businesses and other establishments can reopen but with strict restrictions and guidelines, could be possible with gambling casinos so they can allow their work to go to their work and earn a living.

Yeah the same is happening in my country too. Slowly businesses are opening up. You cannot keep the lockdown for ever. People will have live with this virus eventually. Lockdown is causing more problem than the virus.

The poor need money to feed themselves and their families. It will be only possible if the lockdown is removed gradually so that people can work.
