1041  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Awesome Miner - Unlock Antminer S9, T9+, S15, T15, S17, T17 (free for everyone) on: December 11, 2019, 05:45:14 PM
While I stopped running BM miners in favor of ones from Canaan a few years ago, I gotta say good job!
This should make many many folks very happy Smiley
Thanks for the nice feedback!

Hi Patrike

I have uploaded the awesome miner firmware on my T17. What are the settings I need to make next in order to get the hash rate boost?
The firmware for Antminer S17/T17 is not fully finalized and integrated with Awesome Miner from a configuration point of view. Right now you will have to use the Antminer web interface to do the overclocking.

Please go to the Miner Configuration -> Chain Freq settings, where you can set the following for Antminer T17
Select Frequency: 900MHz
Select Voltage: 19.5V

In case of Antminer S17:
Select Frequency: 725MHz
Select Voltage: 19.4V

In the near future there will be "Mining Profiles" for Antminer S17/T17 where you easily can just select the hashrate you want for all your miners. This concept is currently only available for our S9/L3+ firmware.

Please note that when running the Awesome Miner firmware for Antminer S17/T17, you don't need any Awesome Miner license. As the firmware has a mining fee, we don't charge anything extra for using the miners with Awesome Miner.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yesterday you updated gminer 1.84 again but it still doesn't work. In the ann de gminer there is 1.84 and is the official website.

I'm still at 1.83
Hi,

Gminer 1.84 was released on Friday and I made it available via the software definition update. Later they removed the Gminer 1.84 release for some reason.

Because of this, I also removed Gminer 1.84 from the software definitions earlier today.

Hey, need better profit/data/api for sub 1 satoshi coins
Hi. Is there a specific coin or example where Awesome Miner doesn't do what it should? Or was it more in general you would like to see coin statistics for some new coins?

It was general and specific.
Specific case in point, Turtle coin. Price is sub 1 sats, but is mineable and has value. Markets are in LTC and ETH.
Thanks. I've received similar feedback from @dasch about that it would be good to support ETH and other pairs than BTC for the exchange rate. The Dynamic Data Source concept would have to be extended to support reading values other than BTC.
A small update on this topic.

I'm planning to support a concept for this in the next release (7.2.3). In the Dynamic Data Source configuration, Arithmetic expression field, it will be possible to type something like:
Code:
* helper.ExchangeFrom("ETH")

If you use a JSON source where CoinX only has an exchange pair with ETH, not for BTC, you point the "JSON property expression" to the exchange rate of CoinX (relative ETH). By adding the Arithmetic expression above, Awesome Miner will then convert the value from ETH to BTC when storing the value.

You will be able to use any of the known coins like "ETH", "LTC", "XMR" as a reference for the exchange rate.

Awesome Miner version 7.2.2

 Awesome Miner Antminer firmware
  - There will soon be a firmware for running two Antminer S9 in dual mode with a total hashrate of 20-23TH/s at 1500W. Intended for lowering the power costs for mining with S9. Some hardware modifications are required. Please contact us for more details.
 ASIC mining
  - Removed support for the option 'Any computer' when configuring Antminer API access, as it's considered less secure
  - Improved display of error message (authentication failures and similar) when performing certain ASIC related operations
  - Detect and display name of more Antminer types
 Features
  - Device Temperature trigger introduces configuration for how long the temperature conditions must be fulfilled. Configurable to look at the device with either the highest or lowest temperature.
 Integration
  - Included support for more coins for Mining Pool Hub balance display
 Mining software
  - Gminer 1.83
  - XmRig 5.1.1
  - CpuMiner-Opt 3.10.0
  - Lolminer 0.9.2

Hey Patrik,

if you're going to upgrade the temperature rules, can you do this maybe too?

Right now, if I set a temp rule for a GPU rig and set the "Temperature Source" to "Standard", AM seems to use the highest temp in the whole rig. Is it possible to set the Source to the "Highest" or the "Lowest" GPU (so I can choose Lowest for the Winter, and Highest for the Summer)? Or even better, to a GPU of our choice? Like GPU 0 or GPU 4...?
Thanks. I've looked into the device temperature trigger and it will be more configurable in the new release. I also included a property for highest / lowest.

Any pointers as to where I can find a working example of adding a new coin to Awesome Miner? A coin which is not listed on WhatToMine. I found where I can get the price, difficulty and such for this coin, but I cannot make it to be read by Awesome Miner. Is there a tutorial about that somewhere?
Thanks for the question. Please see this guide as a starting point:
https://support.awesomeminer.com/support/solutions/articles/35000115480-load-coin-properties-from-a-custom-source
Is there a restriction for uregistered (unpaid) version which makes it not work properly? I give all the inputs and the JSON properties are read and show up in the text box at the bottom, but the miner gives out an error "unable to read value"
This feature is available for anyone.

In this case you need to point Awesome Miner to the exact property in the JSON structure, where 'data' is top level followed by 'difficulty'. Please try:
data.difficulty
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: December 04, 2019, 08:34:45 AM
Hi Patrik,

now in the winter months I need an alarm if my rigs running too cold for like 2 minutes. But no alarm in the few seconds the miner switchs and the rigs have no work (but temperature drops fast).

This can protect them from condensation if anything happens because the temperature drops below the ambient for a certain period of time. In the summer months it can be a great rule too, but vice versa for running to hot. Right now I can only do an alarm if the temperatur drops below a number, even if its not necessary, because of some seconds miner switching.

Is it possible to add in the rules -> Device Temperature a "x minutes ago" value (like in Check Statistics Hashrate, Shares, ...)?

So we can add rules to check a temperature over time, not just right now. Like 1 minute ago and 5 minutes ago, or something like that.

Or is it maybe already possible somehow? If yes, how?
This is unfortunately not possible today.

Maybe it would be even better with a setting to only trigger if the temperature condition is met for X number of seconds, for example 120 seconds (configurable). Then it's not enough with two or three dips in temperature, but it needs to be below this threshold for a while to trigger. I will investigate this during the week to see if it's possible to support with a reasonable effort.

...
Edit: so after some more discussion with the person who owns the miner, the problem is that awesome miner defaults to an allows someone to do this.
It should not even be an option in the GUI
Thanks for your detailed feedback.
...
Firstly, there is a simple fix to this:
AM knows it's own IP address so that should be the default (and normally the only option)

It shouldn't allow W:0/0 ever.
I really can see no reason why anyone would set their miner to W:0/0 unless they have no idea what they are doing, thus defaulting to AM's IP would be the correct answer for the ignorant.
Having it as an 'easy' fix to make your miner wide open to known viruses is REALLY bad and a major security flaw.
(especially since AM is Windows and the known viruses are Windows also)
Since you've ignored this simple fix to your massive security hole in your software, and others have also fallen into this trap since then ...

I'll quote it again and point out that you REALLY should fix it since there is NO reason to give a box option to use W:0/0

If someone is smart enough to know what W:0/0 is (and it should NOT be suggested anywhere in the software, documentation or support) they can of course enter it themselves.

If they have NO idea what they are doing, it should default to the AM PC IP address that it ALREADY knows as I suggested above ... months ago.
After the discussion last time, I did go ahead with a few changes where it was made much easier for a user to select a good configuration. The users are given these four options since several months ago:
- This computer
- This network
- Any computer (less secure)
- Custom IP access rule

By introducing "This computer" and "This network", Awesome Miner made it easier for the users to do the right thing without having to type IP addresses and access rules. Users doesn't have to learn and write the IP access syntax correctly, as Awesome Miner will secure it for you.

I did however not remove the "Any computer" option, but it's clearly stated in the user interface that this option is "less secure".

The changes made was clearly a move in a good direction by making it easier to select a good configuration and warn about the option that isn't secure.

I understand your point about removing this "less secure" option completely from the user interface. It would of course make it even more likely that a user pick a good configuration. I will make this change in the next release - to remove the option "Any computer (less secure)". Thanks!

Hey Patrik,

I cant run the SRBMulti miner at RandomX Nicehash.

If I add --nicehash true in the Profit Profile/Additional Command Line Arguments, SRB starts, but ignores the Nicehash tag. All shares will be rejected.

I've just pushed a Software Definition Update where SrbMiner-Multi 0.1.8 is included. This new version works better with Nicehash RandomX.

hi patrike

Mainer Profit profile need separate parameter field for dual mining scenario, at the moment we can save in profile only one parameter set, or for normal mining, or for dual. And this is a problem.

Please remove HTML tags if "Copy to clipboard " function in benchmark dialog will be used.
  LBRY;CcMiner 2.3.1;<font color="#909090">2,2 GH/s, 1066 W (02.12.2019, v2.3.1)</font>;2,17 GH/s, 1055 W

Regards
Thanks for the feedback.

1) Although Awesome Miner should setup the dual mining, I assume you want to customize the parameters depending on if dual mining is used or not. Could you please give an example of which mining software and parameters you are using, and I will see if there are any workarounds available already. Thanks!

2) I will adjust the copy-feature like you suggested.

Hi. Yes, this will be included in a release planned for today. Thanks!

Is profit calculation for Monero RandomX working?  I'm showing $0.00 per day with 3kH/s.  I tried overriding the coin algorithm under the Statistics Providers settings but it didn't help.

This coin requires the "Exponential Factor" to be set to 0.
Workaround: Open the Properties for the Monero Coin and override this specific property to be 0.

I will make an update in the next release to automatically do this for Monero.

Has anyone configured Bminer with f2pool on Grin31? I think I have tried every configuration I can think of in AM. Gminer works great. But would love to try Bminer. Thanks
If the exact same pool parameters works fine on Gminer, but fails on Bminer, it might be some incompatibilty issue related to Bminer you run into here. Please also note that Gminer is frequently updated with new releases while Bminer hasn't been updated for quite a while now.
1058  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Awesome Miner - Unlock Antminer S9, T9+, S15, T15, S17, T17 (free for everyone) on: November 29, 2019, 10:50:28 AM
Hi,

This feature is available for everyone - you don't have to run a paid version of Awesome Miner to unlock any number of Antminers. This should benefit the entire mining community.

I've received a number of questions about what Awesome Miner, as a trusted and known software solution, can do related to unlocking of Antminers (without having to use SD cards). The unlock feature has been available in Awesome Miner for a while, but everyone may not be aware of it as it's a bit hidden.

Unlock support
  • S15, T15, S17, S17 Pro, T17
    • Enable SSH and remove signature check
    • Works with recent Bitmain firmware versions, except the latest December 2019 release
  • S9, T9+
    • Remove signature check
    • When the signature check is removed, you can install any firmware, either custom firmware or older Bitmain firmware, where SSH is available
    • Works with all Bitmain firmware versions except the most recent from July 2019. If you run this specific firmware version, flashing with SD-card is an option.

How to unlock
If you already are running Awesome Miner to monitor all your Antminers, please make sure you run a recent version and then proceed to step #7.

1 ) Download, install and run Awesome Miner.
https://www.awesomeminer.com/download
2 ) When running Awesome Miner for the first time, it will automatically open the Add Miner Wizard. It can also be accessed via the "New miner" button in the toolbar.
3 ) In the wizard, select "Network Scan"
4 ) Enter an IP address range and click "Scan"
5 ) Click "Select all" to add all miners and click "Next" followed by "Finish"
6 ) In case you have the Free Edition of Awesome Miner, you may get a question if you want to continue adding the miners. Select "Yes" to continue. The Free Edition only supports monitoring of two miners, but it's still possible to add any number of miners
7 ) Select one or many miners, right click and select "ASIC Tools" -> "Send Custom Web Request"
8 ) Fill in the Antminer web username and password (default: root / root) and enter "unlock" (without the quotes) in the Request field.
9 ) Apply and wait. The Antminers will be restarted once during the process.

What's next
Now your Antminers are unlocked and you will have greater flexibility to install any custom firmware and access them via SSH.

SD-card images
We have a number of SD-card images available for unlocking certain Bitmain firmware versions for Antminer S9, T9+, L3+. Please contact me for more information.

Any feedback is of course appreciated. Thanks!

Anybody mining with the OW1 ASIC?  I can't find much information about it.
I don't have any experience with this miner myself, but I do know there are some Awesome Miner users running it together with Awesome Miner.

Maybe someone else here have more experience?
