hi...

is there a chance to only "read only mode" for rigs that are in my network but managed by another awesome miner?

my friends rigs are managed by himself, but i need to be able to monitor the rigs for stability (he doesnt monitor and most time his awesome miner pc is shut down). i tried some time ago with one rig but it feels like it doesnt work properly (no autostart after reboot and/or mining process stopped without giving error messages) - maybe cause my awesome miner was online and his was not?!
Thanks for the suggestion. It currently not supported to have two Awesome Miner main application connecting to and monitor the same Remote Agent. The reason is that Awesome Miner sends configuration to a Remote Agent, and the agent respond with monitoring information per Managed Miner.

Even if there was a read-only mode where Awesome Miner didn't send any configuration or commands to a specific Remote Agent, this agent would still report the information per miner. The miners reported by the Remote Agent may not match the miners in your Awesome Miner application (if it was another Awesome Miner that provided the configuration/miners). There are currently no concept where Remote Agent can instruct Awesome Miner to add/remove miners, so there needs to be some redesign in order to support this scenario.

Hi, please improve GUI (night mode) in tabs: GPU Clocking, Tags&Notes, Notification

Regards
Thanks for the suggestions - I will make improvements for this in the next release.

Anyone know how to display last share difficulty submited by miner? I cant find C# object for this.
Please post a formula. Thanks
Is this for GPU or ASIC miners? For GPU mining software it's generally not possible to get this information. For ASIC miners it might be - but please confirm if this is the case. Thanks!
Yes, i need for GPU((( Maybe posible some trick to get share diff. If miner recive new job from pool, in this job must be share diff param, or i am completly wrong? I have not so much XP in GPU mining.

Maybe share diff value can be retrived from miner software? Many GPU miner software reporting new diff if this was changed by pool, maybe you can parse log stream and initialize some variable in status object with this data. Then Awesome Miner will be the first software, which implemented last share diff for GPU )))

Regards
The mining software knows of the last share difficulty - but it's not reported over the API so Awesome Miner isn't aware of this information. It's not consistently logged either.

It's only for ASIC miners and some GPU mining software like sgminer where this information is available via an API - for almost all other GPU mining software it is unfortunately not reported.
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: September 11, 2019, 12:40:44 PM
in ver. 7.0.1 you have improved dark mode, but you have forget change font color to white, check GPU Clocking tab (value, default) columns

Easy suggestion

In desktop DARK mode, in mining tabs, green temperatures are barely visible. They could be white and then the colors orange and red for high temperatures, if read well.

one more:

The Options menu should also be DARK with white letters. I'm seeing miners and coins in black, I open options and blinds me at 4 am with my eyes tired. It would be nice to be able to continue with DARK in options, there isn't much complication I think
Thanks for the improvement suggestions.

I will make some dark mode adjustments in v7.0.2 that soon will be made available.
1184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: September 10, 2019, 02:49:44 PM
Regarding ASIC fine tune config is it possible to add manual frequency and voltage in addition to predefined profiles? AM firmware has an option to upload config inside the network to other ASICs.

In general it would be much better to have all the options from chain freq. config inside AM....
Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into adding more of the settings. I agree that all relevant settings should be possible to set via Awesome Miner.

Patrike,

Just a note that your domain, "awesomeminer.com" (and subdomains) has been added to a domain blocking list used by Pi-Hole.

As best I can tell, it has been added here: https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts.

Pi-Hole gets the list from here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts

That list is a consolidation of other lists, including this list: https://gitlab.com/ZeroDot1/CoinBlockerLists

You may wish to contact them regarding this.

For anyone using Pi-Hole, add the following domains and subdomains to Pi-Hole's whitelist:

awesomeminer.com
cloud.awesomeminer.com
ftp.awesomeminer.com
pop3.awesomeminer.com
www.awesomeminer.com

Regards,
...jim

Thanks for letting me know Jim.

According to an issue report on their site, they also block bitcoin.org, coinmarketcap.com and other crypto related sites with good reputation. I will try to find a solution. Thanks!

hello to all!!!!
i am new to mining. i have started mining ETN and ENQ on my phone, but i am going to try to mine using Awesome Miner on my laptop. i have downloaded it from https://www.awesomeminer.com/download/setup/AwesomeMiner.msi but my antivirus warns me it has a malware when i try to install it:

is this normal or should i worry??? any help would be appreciated!!!

thank you!!!!
Hi and thanks for your question.

In the past AVG/Avast was very cooperative as they analyzed Awesome Miner and white-listed it as one of the few mining related applications that were considered safe. A while ago they changed their policies and have special rules for mining related software - and although their experts agree that Awesome Miner isn't a threat - they do have some new policies around mining related software where they prefer to mark it as a potential threat.

For most of the AVG/Avast user base, mining isn't something wanted - and this is the reason why they prefer to mark anything related to mining as a threat.

I've been in contact with their support team a number of times during the last few months, but it's not possible to change their decision that Awesome Miner is related to mining and by being related to mining other rules apply. So this is an unfortunate policy on their side that I'm not able to do anything about at the moment.

It should be possible to configure Avast with an exception to allow Awesome Miner.

Patrike, it is doing it a lot less now since the last update or pre-release update. I don't wake up with 30 boxes suspeneded anymore, sometimes one or two. Good work.

P.S. You probably know Nicehash (old) is going away the 10th. I am hoping they add some of the missing algos such as MTP from new that old had. In any case on the 10th I will just uncheck old nicehash from the profit switching unless you update it beforehand, might want to look into it and make sure all the apis and stratums for all the new nichehash are current, because I bet they change some on the 10th...
There are actually no changes in the latest version that could resolve your issue - so I wonder if this was something temporary in your setup. Anyway, if it's working better now, it's of course good.

So far MTP is not in the list of algorithm on the new platform, but if it shows up I will make sure it's supported.

I've not seen any information about changes to stratum and API URL's for the new platform, so I assume it will be the same as today with 'new' in the sub domain name.

I'm planning the following for Awesome Miner 7.0, planned to be released Monday 9th:
- Nicehash (old) will be removed
- If you don't have Nicehash New configured already, the wallet from the Nicehash old platform will be used for the Nicehash New platform
- If you already have Nicehash New configured with a wallet, nothing will change except that the Nicehash old platform will no longer be available

I hope the above should make the transition as smooth as possible. Please let me know if I missed anything important here.

For users that still want to use the old platform for one more day before it closes - you will have to wait with upgrading to Awesome Miner 7.0 until Tuesday (10th).

Very good work Patrike, big changes. You can't have a better DEV for this program. Thank you for your changes and continuous improvements. The chip temperature sounds great.
Thanks for the great feedback, both now and in the past as well. The software will of course continue to improve with each new version.

I assume you launch cgminer from the command line today? Can you try to enable the API for it by also adding something like the following command line arguments:
--api-listen --api-allow W:0/0

At this point it should be possible to point an External Miner in Awesome Miner to the IP address of the computer running cgminer.

I do not launch it from the command line - I downloaded it from the link I posted, when I open/run it, it automatically starts prompting me for pool information

This does not appear to run like any cgminer version I have used before.
As you point out, it does sound like a very custom cgminer version.

Typically you need to start Cgminer with API parameters like I suggested above in order to enable the monitoring interface (API) where Awesome Miner can connect. If you do open cmd.exe and then launch cgminer.exe with the parameters I suggested, are those simply ignored?

ok I understand i think, I created a .bat with the following command line

cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://bitcoin.viabtc.com:3333 -u MoparMiningLLC.003 -p x

are you stating I should add --api-listen --api-allow W:0/0 to the end so that it is like this?

cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://bitcoin.viabtc.com:3333 -u MoparMiningLLC.003 -p x --api-listen --api-allow W:0/0

update:

I ran it with the command line above and with what you suggested, in cgminer i saw "API running in IP access mode on port 4028 (1884)"

I tried to add it to AM using the pc's IP address and with port 4028 - the "test connection" fails though.

update:

I got it to work - I had to open the port on the pc's firewall - after that it worked just fine. will pm you the API log as you requested.

Thanks for the update and great that you got the API running.

I've looked at the API report and it looks like most information should be displayed correctly in Awesome Miner. One limitation is that this miner doesn't support reporting the temperature - the temperature value reported is 0.

Why is awesomeminer leaving a ton of mining windows open all of a sudden?

You have to go to task manager and manually close the conhosts?

Any fix?
I'm not able to reproduce this. Can you please share more details?
If you start and stop a Managed Miner - is it still running? Are you launching the mining software in Admin mode or are there any other non-default settings?

I am running it the same way I have for years, latest updates. Don't think it runs as admin mode, unless there is a setting in awesomeminer for that. Basically when it switches mining software/windows it leaves the old cmd window box and you can't click x to close it, it is NOT mining, but the new box is, and the only way to get rid of the tons of boxes is to end them from task manager. They are listed as conhost.exe and Suspended status.

PS. And it is weird because it is only doing it on my Ryzen machine, the Intel ones are not doing this. I added exceptions to Avast as I have been doing for years and never had this issue. I'm doing nothing different then before the last update, which didn't just do the small normal update, but had me actually re-install it?
Thanks for the update.

The last few minor version of Awesome Miner have been small and not related to how mining software is started.

1) Can you try to disable Avast completely on one of the computers to see if that makes any difference?
2) Can you please check the setting "Run mining process with Administrator privileges" in the Properties of a miner, Environment section. I'm not asking for a change of the setting, but it's good for me to know if it's enabled or not to get a more complete understanding of your setup. Thanks!

It was not running with Administratror privleges checked, I checked the box and will try after work  late today again. If that doesn't work I would try without AV, but not for long. It seems like it could be a windows thing because it makes the boxes suspended instead of closing them?
I'm not sure what the exact issue is here. Does it happen to all mining software? If you just start and stop the miner - does the problem happen right away?
1198  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Awesome Miners Antminer S9 firmware on: September 02, 2019, 09:19:14 AM
I fully understand the concept for AW firmware for S9, on the other hand you are basically giving your user base to VNISH without any benefit to you or your customers (if i got it right you don't participate in 2% fee). There is a lot of additional features you can add to this firmware which would make a great tool for larger farms. I bet if you would lower fee to say 1% and make FW work only with AM (something like ASICseer has) this would produce more gains to you and VNISH as well.
In order to incentives you customers to switch to "your" firmware there needs to be some kind of exclusivity and gain...

Thanks for your feedback and comments - they are always welcome!

Of the 2% mining fee we are actually getting half of it. So we do benefit from customers that go for the Awesome Miner firmware. This is also the reason why we can provide product support for it and also integrate it well with Awesome Miner. Users of other Vnish firmware do get most of the features as well, so your point is valid that we do give away features to a larger user base. Some features like setting Mining Profiles via Awesome Miner is exclusive to our brand of the firmware. We could make more feature exclusive, but we are also trying to be nice to our customers and respect what decisions they make.

It's however not possible for us to control this pricing model of the firmware by much, as it needs to align with what the Vnish firmware uses for other firmware brands. We don't have the option to make the mining fee 0% or 1% as it cannot compete with other Vnish brands by providing a lower fee. This is why I stated above that although I appreciate any feedback and comments related to the pricing, it cannot change and it will stay on 2%. The only direction we are allowed to change the mining fee is to make it higher (2.5% or 3%), but I know this isn't what you where looking for.

As we cannot make the mining fee lower, the only option left that I can see would be to make Awesome Miner not consuming any licenses as long as you are running Antminers with our firmware. We would have to investigate this more, but it might be either license + 2% mining fee or no license requirements + 2.5% mining fee for example. Everyone may not like the concept, but it's an option - just like using this firmware is an option.

Please note that my comments in the section above is just about exploring possibilities based on the topic we discuss - it's not something we have in the pipeline or decided to go for. Please consider this point when reading the statements above. Thanks!

Thanks for the very accurate answer; honestly I’m surprised that your developer staff doesn’t have the skills and resources to develop a custom firmare based on original BM source side!

I could do it even by myself with my limited programming experience if only I wish to invest some time on a project like that; however it would be a nonsense for the limited miners I have to manage and most of all, the  wide availability of free open source solution currently available for free.

I think that Awesome Miner (that is definitely not a cheap product...) should have had to offer his his solution to their customers for free as did by SlushPool with Brains OS, that is neither restricted to run in their pool!

A matter of style before any other economic or technical onside consideration, but again, it’s just my humble opinion.

All the best
/ Enrico

Hi Enrico,

Thanks for the additional feedback. It's appreciated.

You are correct that there are some older source code available for S9, but it's not up-to-date and lacks features. And going forward, it's way more complicated on S15 and S17 where there is nothing to start from. As we need to maintain focus on delivering good solutions for monitoring and management of mining operations, we see firmware as something where we need partnerships and integrations rather than investing in the development ourselves. It would of course be nice if we could do all this on our own, but it's unfortunately not realistic for us based on our observations.

It's very nice of the Braiins team to release BraiinsOS free of charge, open source and with full flexibility. I fully agree with your point here. But as we don't have the other income sources as I assume they have with Slushpool, we don't have the luxury of giving away the solutions we develop. We always try to be as nice and flexible as possible to make our customers happy, but at the end of the day we also need to run a sustainable business in order to support our customers long term.

I appreciate your comments about the pricing. A general note is that Awesome Miner is actually less expensive than some of the other popular premium solutions for monitoring. The goal is always to make our users happy by making it possible for them to run their mining operations as smooth as possible, making our software solution valuable for them.

Many thanks for your opinions and comments!

@patrike

does AM support the GekkoScience Terminus R606? It uses a modified version of cgminer (version 4.11.1)

I can do it manually but if I can have all my miners in AM it is useful.
This is the first time I get a request for this miner. What happens if you add it to Awesome Miner, is there something specific that doesn't show up correctly? Is this miner it running with Cgminer API enabled, to make it possible to monitor?

Could you please send me the API Report (toolbar: Tools -> API Report) if possible (by PM or mail). Thanks!

I have not found a way to add it to AM - it does not have a controller and operates either via a independent controller like a Pi or via USB to a PC (I have it connected via USB)

it uses a modified version of CgMiner from here

I assume you launch cgminer from the command line today? Can you try to enable the API for it by also adding something like the following command line arguments:
--api-listen --api-allow W:0/0

At this point it should be possible to point an External Miner in Awesome Miner to the IP address of the computer running cgminer.
