Currently, the opportunities are still very equal between one team and another in the European League, but when we look at the strengths of each team, of course there are many people who do not doubt the quality of the players that Liverpool has. However, we also shouldn't forget about the strength that Leverkusen currently has because in general the players at Leverkusen are still quite united and enthusiastic in fighting for victory in whatever league they play in this season.
Liverpool may experience a little set back when one of their key player will be leaving for the African cup of nations, he happens to be that one person who gives their game a different effect when he's present but then I'm hoping Liverpool will get an adaptive mechanism to solving that as it may in a way affect their chances at the Europa.

Leverkusen may use that opportunity to further strengthen their dominance this season in the Europa and this doesn't mean I'm trying to underestimate Liverpool but then I'm looking at possible chances of such happening if things goes otherwise, regardless of such, it will be really foolish for Leverkusen or AC Milan to undermine Liverpool because if they do then they may be giving more edge to Liverpool to winning the league unknowingly to them because Liverpool knowing that they are already behind will do much to get ahead.

It is worse that what you mentioned here. It is not only one or two of their key players. Leverkusen is quite unlucky about all the players that have to leave the team for the African Cup. I think it is a handful of players, maybe five or six and all of them are important. This is really not the best timing for Leverkusen as they have had a wild ride during the first half of the season. I am curious to see how Leverkusen will cope with this situation, but if they can handle this, I think they are ready to handle all the problems they could be facing during the season.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: January 06, 2024, 07:17:04 PM
Al Nassr won't win the trophy and I think hardly anyone would bet against that. They are 7 points behind Al-Hilal, but the bigger problem is that Al-Hilal is in excellent shape and they are leaving no doubt that they will most likely continue with their performances until the end of the season. There are no good reasons to believe that this would soon drastically change. Al-Nassr will have one last chance and this is if they win 90% of their games from now on and then win the game against Al-Hilal during the second half of the season. Maybe then they have a chance.
Al Nassr started the season a little unluckily so wasting too many points has become a big problem for Al Nassr now which makes them 7 points behind Al Hilal, and I think this is normal because they have to adapt to a new coach at the start of the season. this season. season. Now Al Nassr's game is consistent and even Al Nassr's front line already has chemistry with each other which makes them very productive in scoring goals.

It's just that Al Hilal is also in good condition, they find it very difficult to make so many mistakes that they lose points. I predict that this season the SPL league title will be won by Al Hilal. It's true that the SPL still has a long way to go, but looking at Al Hilal's performance this season, I think it will be difficult to stop them. Al Hilal are unbeaten so far and their defense is also very strong so they have conceded minimal goals so far.

I guess it doesn't need a lot of wisdom to predict that Al Hilal is going to the win the Saudi Pro League title. The good condition they are in, the 7 points advantage and the fact that sometimes Al-Nassr can't bring home a lead successfully will ultimately make them the title winner this season. But Al-Nassr knows that if they want to win the title, no excuses are allowed and no minor mistakes as losing one or two games early in the season. I think even if they win every game now it would be hard to become the champion.

As far as I can see Manchester City look like the most advantageous team among the title competitors in this time period. While some important players are leaving for AFC and AFCON tournaments at other title competitors Manchester City can really use this situation for their advantage. De Bruyne is expected to join the team soon as well which is another good news for Manchester City.

Only Erling Haaland's situation is unclear now. For now some sources claim that his return will be by mid January.

i was wondering about that as well as at first they said Haaland only missed the second game at the FIFA Club World Cup because he was missing in the first game due to an injury and then couldn't be nominated for the second game because of the regulations. But now it seems that he has a more severe injury than was initially communicated in public. Otherwise he would have long been back I think. Hopefully he won't miss any of the important games that are about to take place especially during February.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: January 06, 2024, 06:39:36 PM

Luis Enrique tried his best to win this title and he succeeded. The title may not matter much. However, this title win will boost the confidence of PSG players. If the players are confident, PSG will have a promising result in the Champions League as well. While winning the Ligue 1 title is not difficult for PSG, it is very difficult for PSG to perform well in the Champions League.

PSG will face Real Sociedad in the knockout round. I wouldn't say that Real Sociedad is too strong. PSG will be considered as the favorite team in this match. Even so, PSG are likely to drop points against Sociedad. But if the players are confident, and if Enrique's match strategy is good, PSG will qualify for the quarter-finals with a win against Sociedad.

I wouldn't describe the win of this title as a booster for their confidence, but as something that gives them a decent understanding of their own goals and possibilities. Everyone expected them to win that title and they delivered. But by now nobody expects them to win the title in the Champions League and maybe it is good for them that they finally don't have to carry this burden anymore and deal with the pressure that everyone says they have to win the Champions League. Not this time, the favorites are other teams.

I have a feeling that Genoa will score again in second half against Bologna as this team always tends to score at least 2 goals when they meet each other. I also think that Bologna is way ahead in Serie A that it should have been but still a very great team that can achieve a top 6 and actually leave outside teams like Lazio or even Roma which could be crazy.  Shocked

I have been wrong about this one it seems unless something happens at the end of the game. We are entering the final phase now and Bologna has many more shots, more shots on target and much higher ball possession, but it is again another game where Genoa is parking the bus and doesn't allow Bologna to get into the perfect position to finally produce some dangerous attacks. I hate games like these as they are horribly boring. But it is the strategy these teams choose once they were able to take the lead.

Well in the end Bologna managed to score a goal and equalize the score in the 95th minute and Bologna deserves it because they continue to try to attack in the second half unfortunately Bologna has not been able to jump to 4th position because still 1 point behind Fiorentina. This should be a good opportunity for Bologna to get closer to top 4 but they miss this opportunity while in the next 2 matches I'm not sure Bologna can secure points because playing 2 away games. On the other hand Genoa consistently did not lose points in the last 4 matches, they continue to collect 1-3 points from each game and stay away from degradation.

That goal was really due to be scored for Bologna as they have put so much effort into that game and it would have been sad for them if they finished the game with nothing. Now they can at least look forward more comfortable and confidently to the second game against Genoa, but it won't be easy.

But this one is really not predictable now I think. Bologna is a bit better than Genoa, but now Genoa has the advantage to play at home, so I think it is pretty much a coinflip.

Atletico Madrid were strong opponents. However, after defeating a big team like Barcelona, Girona's players were more confident about winning this match. And that's why I said Atletico Madrid wasn't a tough opponent for them.

Indeed, Girona team has to fight hard to win this match. Girona team had to wait until the last minute of the match to win. They have worked hard indeed. And if you want to stay at the top of the table, you need to work hard if you want to win against the big teams. Moreover, it is not possible to be at the top of the table in a competitive league like La Liga. But I would like to point out that since the team managed to win against one of the best teams in La Liga, Barcelona, they will not consider any team as a tough opponent.

Well then your wording is problematic because you can't say in the same post that the opponent wasn't tough while Girona had to fight hard. Atletico Madrid definitely falls into the category of being a strong opponent for every team. I think no team in the world would say that Atletico Madrid is not a tough opponent. It is wrong to say that.

But you wanted to say that Girona had gathered enough confidence to not be afraid of Atletico because they had already beaten Barcelona before. It makes sense, but there is still the issue that Barcelona themselves has big problems at the moment and I don't think a win against them counts as much as it did a few years ago. Yet the game was awesome and Girona showed some great strength at the end.

Regarding Mbappe, I’d love to see him join Liverpool but realistically it’s just not going to happen.
Our owners are too cheap and would never pay the huge wages and likely significant signing on fee that M appe would command. I think he will end up at Real Madrid.
You're right. It is doubtful if Liverpool wants to spend €200m to sign Mbappe. Liverpool also seems to get difficulty to pay a huge salary of Mbappe. That's why we only think Real Madrid is the only team to sign Mbappe. Real Madrid can pay Mbappe's transfer fees and his salary as well. But Real Madrid president ever said that they only want to sign Mbappe after his contract is over. In this January, Mbappe still has a contract with PSG. So, I think Mbappe won't move anywhere until the end of the season.

I've never heard any such rumours about Liverpool possibly competing for Mbappe yet. Moreover, they are actively spreading information that Mbappe has already agreed on a move to Real Madrid, of course this will not be made official until the very end, so he says he has not made up his mind yet.
There is a rumor but there are no official statements yet from Liverpool management and Mbappe. Anyway, since Mbappe seems already agree to join Real Madrid, it is a very small chance if Liverpool expects to sign him.

I don't see that as doubtful as soon as Liverpool would get the confirmation that the offer for Salah (I think it was over 240m euros) still stands or if it is adjusted and it is still around 200, why would Liverpool then decide to hesitate if the player Mbappe would really like to go to Liverpool? I am sure that Klopp and the club wouldn't hesitate for a single second then. Klopp has said so often that Mbappe is a dream player and that Liverpool sadly can't do it for financial reasons, but now imagine that his door opens because Salah makes them rich with a transfer to the Saudi Professional League. This would change the whole transfer drama and Real Madrid would probably get quite angry. Tongue

Copenhagen is more likely to lose against Manchester City. But since this is a goal ball game, nothing can be said for sure.
Copenhagen's performance in the group stage was good. And they have proved that this team is in no way to be underestimated. If Manchester City can continue their great performance this season as well as last season then I would say City will win against Copenhagen. However, Manchester City's performance has also been somewhat erratic and weak this season. However, De Bruyne has been included in the squad after a long injury layoff. But we are still not sure if he can play well. So it's going to be tough for City to win against Copenhagen.

Everyone is quick with predictions when we have a game where the powers are so imbalanced between two contenders, but in this case there is a good reason to come up with a quick prediction. I think it would be the surprise of the century if Copenhagen kicks Manchester City out of the Champions League.

Really imagine that would happen. The whole world would be sitting in front of their TVs with shocked faces like never before. And Denmark would celebrate a party like never before, probably as if they had just won the World Cup. Cheesy

Last season Chelsea had 29 points after 20 games and this season they have 28 points after 20 games. The worst part about this is that nothing, absolutely nothing changed and they even got 1 point less. All the things they have done, the hundreds of millions invested and the changes in the coaching position, nothing helped them to get out of that hole. It is getting worse.

I think it will take a long time for Chelsea to rebuild their squad. This can start by bringing in a coach who is ready to build a team in the long term and also hundreds of millions of money to bring in several players that the coach wants. What is happening at Chelsea right now is really bad and I think they have to build their team from scratch. They cannot expect a miracle like next season they will be able to finish in the top four or top five. They must really focus on long-term targets.

No it is not the solution what you are talking about. What you are saying is exactly what they have been doing for a few years now. They need a capable coach who understands the potential of every single player they have at the moment and then he needs to figure out which players available in the market would represent smart additions to the existing squad. So far Chelsea has bought everything and everyone they could get and it led them nowhere. Pochettino was the next big fail, but I couldn't care less. It seems there are people who think Pochettino is a world class coach.

As long as Al Hilal continues to maintain its position in being in first place in the points table and does not make repeated mistakes, Al Hilal is guaranteed to win the title in the Saudi Pro league and Al Nassr must accept this situation even though they have Ronaldo and other attacking players. other things, but on the defensive line it cannot be as strong as Al Hilal and it would not be possible if Al Nassr would make a mistake, whereas in the last few matches Al Hilal is still quite strong and has consistently achieved 5 consecutive wins and in these 19 matches has never been defeated.
I agree with your last words that Al Nassr chances will be greater if they continue to consistently get consecutive wins and we will never know what surprises will come, pushing Al Hilal to make mistakes and Al Nassr will have the opportunity to try to get closer to the points that Al Hilal has.

I am not sure if I brought this up before but in many leagues I would not say that the season is over when one team leads by 7 points after half of the season has been played, but in this case I am deviating from my usual point of view here because I think these 7 points mean a lot with respect to the rest of the season. The goal difference of Al-Hilal is telling the whole story more precisely. They are quite unstoppable so far. I am saying "quite" unstoppable because they have 2 draws until now, but that is it. Al-Nassr can only counter them by consistently winning and then they have to close the gap in the second game against them.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: January 05, 2024, 08:22:31 PM
No no no Cheesy You are exaggerating this massively! If they were to become second let's say, it wouldn't be a huge disappointment and no, not everything falls apart and they will not be left with nothing. They are doing some great work and they are building a great team with future potential. Let's see what the situation is at the end of the season. If they lead the table and lose the title on the last day like Borussia Dortmund did, then everything you said is true. But if Bayern outcompetes them and Leverkusen finishes the season with more than 80 points and yet don't win the title, it was still a great performance they can build the next season upon. You are talking about disaster only. But they are from that.

The Europa League will keep them motivated as this would be the cherry on top of everything else. Assuming they become second in the Bundesliga closely behind Bayern and win the Europa League, it would have been a fabulous season for them knowing where they are coming from.
That's right, we also have to look realistically at where they come from before determining their level of success.
If Leverkusen does not win the Bundesliga this season it will not be a big disappointment for them because realistically they are still below Bayern in terms of strength and finances if that is normal.
And so far what they have shown in the Europa League is extraordinary, they are still unbeaten and if no surprises or bad things happen to them then it is possible that they will progress further in the Europa League this season.
Regardless of whether they succeed or not in winning the Europa League this season, I think this team has developed much better this season.

Disappointment can be relative right? Of course they won't be happy if they don't win the Bundesliga when they were very close to winning it, but I think that is a no brainer and doesn't need any discussion. Every player in the world would be disappointed if there is an opportunity to win a big title and then the project fails, but being the strongest competitor of Bayern Munich on that level is an achievement on its own.

The rest will need time but it would be good if they don't fall too far behind early in the Bundesliga because that will keep them thrilled and focused. That's the right condition to go big in the Europa League.

One thing about Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez is that he's a master planner when it comes to football management and that's why he's succeeded in winning more UEFA champions league titles in his reign as the president of the club than any other football club president has ever managed. Before Carlo Ancelotti extended his contract with the Spanish giants last month, reports already had it that he was gonna leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season while Xabi Alonso was lined up to replace Italian manager. But after Real Madrid extended his contract, the news of Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso joining Real Madrid next season reduced.

But because of how strategic Real Madrid president can be, I think he might still have plans of bringing in Alonso to the club anytime soon. The only factor that'll keep Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid till the expiration of his contract at Real Madrid is if he can continue to win many more titles for the club else, We might just Alonso been announced as Real Madrid boss before the end of Ancelotti's current contract with the club.

I am not sure if I would attribute so much of the success to Perez to be honest Grin He is a good president who is very well connected in the soccer world and that is a good thing because he can influence many of the transfers as he is in touch with the agents. But whether he has had such a great on impact on Real Madrid's success is out of my knowledge. I think he had some good timings, but also some bad timings. He wasn't able to get Haaland or Mbappe and he was interested in both of them. This means there are limits to his actions like there are limit for everyone. Of course he does have a stronger influence than presidents of other, smaller clubs, but it is still not him who is winning the titles Wink

A least amount of differentiation is required I think. Putting every title into the same category is wrong I think. I still agree that no title should be disregarded altogether. It is something that nobody can take away from you once you have won it and that is why I am also against rotating so heavily that in the end there is the third row playing while all the top players are getting a rest or are sitting on the bench. We see that frequently from the top teams, but I can understand it because new competitions have been introduced nonstop and some of them I didn't even know they exist. It means more and more games, which automatically will reduce the game quality across all competitions. That is a big problem. We should have less competitions with higher intensity.
PSG played its best squad in the final match against Toulouse yesterday. PSG won the match 2-0 over Toulouse and that made them win their first title this season. Player rotation is certainly necessary because there are many important matches that PSG will play, but Luis Enrique did not do it in the final match against Toulouse yesterday.

But first, congratulations on Luis Enrique's first title with PSG and this is the best gift for fans and everyone who has supported PSG all this time. However, Toulouse may have been unlucky in this match because they failed to score even though they had many chances to create. So once again, congratulations PSG, congratulations Luis Enrique and congratulations to all PSG fans on this first title.

He did the only right thing because winning that title sets the players into the right mood for more. There was no point in rotation in that final against Toulouse because they could have lost more than just that game. If they lost that game, the mind games would have started in the heads of the players already before the Champions League, the real thing is going to continue. He wanted to avoid that and it was the right decision. First title, check! Now they are going to reach out for more.

Yes I mean the Bernabeu is literally where he belongs. They fit together very well, the club and him. He is a gentleman and a great coach, a great personality and Real Madrid is the most recognized club in the world. So there is no disagreement about that. I wonder what he would do in 2026 if everything is looking great and going well. I believe someone like him will have a hard time to once and for all say goodbye to soccer. it is really his life although he is one of the calmest coaches I have ever seen. The most you can see from him is when he is showing his fist out of joy. But he isn't screaming or escalating. Great coach and I hope we'll see him a few more years.
Of course he is quite comfortable at Real Madrid, even Ancelotti contract extension the previous week is certainly one of the reasons that Ancelotti loyalty to Real Madrid is so great. In fact, He was willing not to accept the offer as Brazil coach because he was more interested in continuing the project at Real Madrid that he had built. I think as long as he is still fit enough on the edge of the pitch then Real madrid will continue to use his services. And the new contract received by Ancelotti will expire until 2026 so there is plenty of time for him to bring lots of trophies for Real madrid.

In this transfer window, It is believed that Real Madrid will re-sign several players to strengthen their squad. Ancelotti main target is a player in the striker position because Real Madrid needs a striker who is ready to score lots of goals and Joselu can't do that this season so Real madrid needs a player to replace joselu in Real madrid front line. Maybe the names of top player that are often associated are Mbappe and Osimhen. Let's see if Ancelotti will bring back high quality players like Mbappe or Martinez.

This contract could be a hidden clue if you ask me as Ancelotti might know more what is going on behind the scenes and what Perez is planning for the club. If all these things are huge and Ancelotti was introduced to those plans, maybe that changed his mind and he knew that this a huge chance for him to have several more amazing years as a coach of the biggest club in the world. I was quite sure that he has reached this age and thought becoming a national coach would be perfect for him, but something happened that made him change his mind obviously. What could it be?

The unluckiest team of the round is Copenhagen of course. They have a very tough draw against Manchester City and they will probably get destroyed easily as well. I respect their challenge in the group stage a lot. Just as Galatasaray were Copenhagen were also very ambitious to get points. But it looks like this is the end of the road for Copenhagen.  Smiley

I would have been happier to see Galatasaray in Copenhagen's place. I mean the draw would have still been very tough but at least they could have made much more money before being eliminated by the Manchester club. But anyways, the top title favourite Manchester City should have no problem on finishing off Copenhagen.

The Copenhagen team is not weak at all. They performed well against Bayern Munich and managed to draw the match goalless. They showed great dominance in the home match against Manchester United. Copenhagen team won 4-3. Copenhagen performed well in the last match against Galatasaray as well.

Copenhagen will face mighty Manchester City in the knockout round. The first leg match is a home match in Copenhagen. If they play well in this match, Copenhagen have a slim chance of advancing to the next round. But the Manchester City team is very strong. Manchester City are unlikely to lose against a smaller team like Copenhagen.

It is a pity that they are playing against Manchester City because I think Manchester City really is out of their league. I absolutely agree with you that they have shown some astonishing and surprisingly good performances in the Champions League. With some luck they could have gotten a few more points during the group stage even against Bayern Munich.

I was hoping that they would get one of the weaker opponents in the knockout round of the Champions League, but Manchester City is 98% their final destination in this tournament.

There is only one game in Italy Serie A. Bologna will play at home against Genoa. Bologna have a great performance under Thiago Motta. After 18 weeks they have only 3 defeats. They have a chance to finish among the top 4 teams in the league this season. On the other hand, Genoa are a few points above the relegation zone. But they have had good results in recent weeks. We can say that they are in good form in terms of performance. I see Bologna as the favorites to win this match, but I will bet on both teams to score.

Bologna really had to deal with a big setback in the game against Udinese and I think considering the form they had and the streak they were having nobody thought they would be sent home with a 0-3 against a struggling Udinese team that had not won a game in quite some time.

But still in this game I think it should be the favorite role for Bologna. This one game shouldn't really change a lot for them. If they can show their best in that game I believe they will get a big step closer to the Coppa Italia semifinal.

Ok would you be willing to take a 10:1 bet that Chelsea won't be relegated into the Championship? If you win, you get 10 mBTC. If I win, I get 1mBTC. I say they won't be relegated under any circumstances. Let me know if that is a bet you would like to accept and we will get someone reputable to quote our conversation and then we can settle it at the end of the season.

Crystal Palance vs. Everton ended in a draw, which is quite unsatisfactory for both as the game must now be repeated and both of them really don't need any additional games for nothing.

Even with the disastrous season Chelsea had last season, they did all they could and still didn't get relegated. With Mauricio Pochetino who's had a better idea on how to manage a higher club will not let that happening.
They have some players who are currently Injured, immediately they return from Injury, they'll have a team that'll win them big games, right now, what's lacking is a goalscorer, since Victor Oshime would be difficult to bring down, them they should make moves for Ivan Toney, it'll make sense because he'll bring in his experience he already have in the Premier League into the Chelsea squad..

When we talk about clubs to be relegated, well kats look at at clubs like Burnley, Luton Town, and Sheffield United. Everton are also struggling right now but I know how many times I've watched Sean Dyche escapes with his club outta that relegation zones. Hopefully dame happens this same season.

But let me correct you on this one, Pochettino is not better and has a better idea than Potter and Chelsea is not doing better than last season. It is wrong.

Ronaldo will win the top scorer trophy this title, I have no doubts about that. He is taking all the penalties and that alone could get him close to that trophy as one third of his goals is scored by penalty. But I don't know whether people really care when Ronaldo is the top scorer in the Saudi Professional League. I admire him for the records he has set in the Champions League, that's the reason I look up to him and have respect for him. I don't care whether he scores 20 goals or 40 goals in the SPL.
We don't know who will be the top scorer. Ronaldo is leading the top scorer now, but we don't know whether he will consistently in scoring goals until the end of the season. We don't forget that Mitrovic also compete for the top scorer status. Mitrovic already scored 17 goals, it is only 3 goals difference from Ronaldo's goals. I think Mitrovic is also the biggest candidate to win the top scorer status.

People will always care about anything Ronaldo does. If he becomes the top scorer and leads Al Nassr to win the trophy, people will be very enthusiastic about the achievement got by Ronaldo. Ronaldo has many fans around the world, the fans will always care with Ronaldo's achievement in any competition of football. He may score more than 30 goals this season.

I have read a few articles which are quite interesting as they are discussing whether Xabi Alonso will become the next Pep Guardiola. I am not a friend of these person to person comparisons because at the end of the day nobody can become somebody else. I get the idea why they want to compare the two coaches, but it doesn't make that much sense as I think Alonso is a different personality to begin with. They are not the same. I am not sure how tactical Alonso is and whether he goes into such a deep detail as Guardiola does.

But one thing is for sure, if Alonso can win the Bundesliga and then adds the Europa League title to his collection as a coach at such a young age, that would by any means be a crazy head start for the Spaniard. Since I like him, I wish him the best for this ambitious goal.
Bayer Leverkusen first spot, they have the Bundesliga title on their mind and it will be hugh dissapointement if at the end of the 2023/2024 Bundesliga campaign, they failed to win the title, everything fall apart, and they will be left with nothing to think about other than frustration and deep regrets, just like the scenario that happen to Borrusia Dortmund the previous season, they gave up really bad and that's one fight that was invalid. Xabi Alonso doing an incredible job for Bayer Leverkusen this season, they remained unbeaten and this is not a slight issue but a ready full combat.
