Absolutely not! What difference would it make for Roma or for any of their opponents whether Mourinho is sitting on the bench or not? Mourinho can't enter the pitch and influence the game, he can only give some of his instructions, but that doesn't make a team the favorite.

I understand the decision that Roma has made here. They wanted some fresh input, some new impulses and a new face for a new start. Whether it will be more successful with De Rossi than with Mourinho, I think only time will tell. But I can see why they made the decision and I disagree that Roma would have been any stronger in the Europa League with Mourinho.
However, in fact Jose Mourinho has had quite a big impact on the team when competing on the European stage and I cannot deny that Jose Mourinho has the advantage of motivating his team to be able to play much better on the European stage, so what is being discussed now? probably true.
Roma after Jose Mourinho is no longer favored in the Europa League is a natural thing in my opinion.
No one is saying that De Rossi is better or worse than Jose, but De Rossi, who has minimal experience, will not be able to make more ha in the European League stage.

Roma was never favored in the Europa League this season and they wouldn't even be favored if their coach was called Guardiola or Klopp or Ancelotti. The team isn't good enough to be considered a favorite and yet they could reach the final. They haven't been the favorite last season either, but they got damn lucky and were therefore able to make it into the final after they beat Leverkusen in an unbelievable manner, parking the bus in the second game and they had zero shots in 90 minutes whereas Leverkusen had more than 20 shots. Mourinho isn't the same anymore. Did you never notice that his passion deteriorated quite a bit in recent years?
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 05, 2024, 04:36:45 PM
Although it was an accidental own goal for Juventus this means that most likely the Serie A ended already unless Inter really mess it up in these remaining weeks and Juventus makes 0 mistakes. This is highly unlikely to happen and Juventus can only hope that Inter gets really tired in the Champions League games and because of this to make some mistake in Serie A,still I believe Inter to be Champions this season in Serie A.

Yes indeed, it doesn't matter whether it was an own goal or not, because an own goal occurred, it means that Inter succeeded in pressing Juventus in that match, because in the first half it was clear that Inter had good dominance. Of course, because Inter had managed to get that 1 goal, then Inter just needed to defend it and it worked because yes, in the second half Juventus still didn't manage to get a goal back. Apart from that, at least in terms of goal productivity and total goals conceded so far this season, in reality Inter is still the best compared to Juventus. Therefore, having a gap of 4 points now, I personally believe that Inter is able to maintain it.

I agree that it was an own goal, but it was due to the pressure that Inter Milan put on Juventus. It wasn't some stupid own goal that could be considered unlucky. It didn't come out of the blue, it was a legit attack and I guess the Inter player could have finished that ball himself if he didn't get tackled by the Juventus player who then scored that own goal.

It was a game that I thought Inter could play more dominantly, but Juventus is getting back to strength more and more. It's tough to beat them, but the last two games may have been the preliminary decision in the race for the Scudetto. A loss and a draw for Juventus means  +4 points for Inter and a game in hand. I am not very optimistic that the league will become exciting again.
64  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: February 05, 2024, 04:23:25 PM
Atletico Madrid really did well in this game, being able to equalize the 1 goal which Real Madrid carried from the first half till almost 80 minutes, and just when the match was about to end, Atletico Madride was able to equalize and make the match to end in a draw.
I know the result of that match was against what many predicted and even I for once never knew the match was going to end in a draw, but then the 90 mi Minutes becomes the proving time.
Atletico Madrid players were very discipline in this match and although they were conceded goal in the first half but Atletico Madrid is still focus especially to their defensive lines it makes Real Madrid get in trouble and they unable to scores more and Atletico Madrid also can able to threaten Real Madrid several times through an free kick but unfortunately Real Madrid lost to focus which can be utilized by Llorente to equalized the scored however the derby match is always be difficult and in my opinion both teams were displayed good performance in this match so i think draw is fair result for them

I have been notice about Real Madrid upcoming opponent for next week in Laliga because they will fight against Girona and  for the first met Real Madrid can able to win from Girona 3-0 but last season Girona too has successfully to beat Real Madrid at their home ground so this match will be so interesting to watched because if Real Madrid can able to beat Girona then they can wided their gap points became an 5 points but if Girona can beat Real Madrid they also can taking over first place so let see it later who is the winner of this match although on the paper Real Madrid is the favourite but i wouldn't underestimate Girona because they potentially can make Real Madrid get in trouble

It was a classic Real Madrid vs. Atletico game in my opinion as Atletico allowed Real Madrid to do a lot of things until they entered the last third of the pitch in Atletico's area. From there on Atletico knew how to disturb Real Madrid's attacks and make sure that they can't get too deeply into the danger zone and create promising chances. It looked like Real Madrid was the stronger team, but they couldn't gain anything from their superior control. Both teams had an impressive passing accuracy and it was quite an even game after all. The goal was scored late, but I think the draw was fair.

I don't understand what quick results AS Roma wants by appointing De Rossi as Mourinho's replacement because clearly, of course De Rossi doesn't have great qualities as Mourinho's replacement. Therefore, by appointing De Rossi as head coach, I think AS Roma has hidden problems with Mourinho, so AS Roma made a quick decision by appointing De Rossi. Thus, the quick result that I understand here is a quick decision to fire Mourinho and a quick decision to appoint De Rossi as his replacement, because De Rossi is also a team legend. Therefore, I think there are no long-term plans regarding the appointment of De Rossi as AS Roma head coach but yes, if for example De Rossi succeeds in improving AS Roma's position then maybe there will be a long-term plan, who knows.

This is where it seems to be a bit contradictory what Roma has done, but it actually makes sense if you think about it. Mourinho couldn't get a winning streak going and Roma was looking for consistent results (like any team does). But Roma was full of surprises all the time and they lost games they shouldn't have lost and most of the time they also didn't perform very well.

But how long could Roma have waited to do something about it? Either immediately as they did, or wait another 10 games and then sack Mourinho and leave the new coach without any chance to change something? That is why they did the change immediately and then they can analyze De Rossi's work by the end of the season and consider to extend his contract or not. There are good incentives for everyone involved to do well now. Mourinho sometimes looked as if he wasn't as interested and passionate anymore.
68  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: February 03, 2024, 05:44:48 PM

De Rossi hasn't really had a lot of time to prepare his new team and make a lot of adjustments. I think the possibilities he had so far to influence the team positively were quite limited, but they still had some good results that they can look back on and take with them some confidence from the games. But I think Feyenoord Rotterdam could be a favorite here even though not by much, but either way this is going to be a close game.
Maybe if Mourinho was still there, Roma would be favorites in this match. Even with the same team, De Rossi might face a little difficulty in making the right strategy with his current squad. It's not easy for a new team coach and they have to continue halfway through the season. we can see whether Rome will rise or decline. What is clear is that this will be a criticism of the new coach.
Even if De Rossi can't get Roma through to the next round of the Europa League, I think he should still be given a chance for the new season. but it depends on how much change he will show in the team.

Absolutely not! What difference would it make for Roma or for any of their opponents whether Mourinho is sitting on the bench or not? Mourinho can't enter the pitch and influence the game, he can only give some of his instructions, but that doesn't make a team the favorite.

Moving to Arsenal would not be possible, ask me why and I'd say that the January Transfer Window must have come to an end already and we'll never see such a task happening as much as iys already closed right now.
That club must be very adamant then, lol! A player has said he wants to leave why not look for the nearest ways to solve the situation for the both sides and parties.
They should respect the player and allow him leave. They will learn the hard way because, you cannot do nothing to hold down a player that wants to leave the club.

Marcus Rashford all grown but he's football ain't at a top level, he better sits up so he could be selected for the upcoming Euro's Competition.

I did a little research after you said that and saw the last day of the transfer window as February 1. Thank you for the information. I thought it like near mid February.  Smiley

In this case Benzema is staying until the end of the season. Because I have seen that the transfer window is closed for many top European league now. But at the end of the season it is really difficult for Al Ittihad to keep him at the team. I hope Benzema can manage to go to a team he would like. It would be lovely to see him in Europe again.  Smiley

Well you say it is difficult to keep him, but who knows whether Al-Ittihad is really that interested in keeping him? He is doing alright, but it is not a special performance or anything that Al-Ittihad could not replace if Benzema decides to leave the club. I think they don't have to be concerned about his future plans. If he leaves, they could just replace him with an equally strong player from Europe for less money I think. He isn't one of the best players in the world anymore. Those times are over for him.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: February 02, 2024, 05:34:56 PM
Joselu's progress is quite positive so far if we see that since the start of the season there have been good changes in terms of performance and also contribution to the team.
We can't just judge from one or a few matches, but a player's performance must be seen as a whole and if Joselu continues to be able to move in a positive direction then it will be beneficial for the Real Madrid team in the future.
Every player is important for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti knows when to start him and also knows the perfect time to keep him on the bench, I won't compare him to Karim Benzema because he's still new to the club's system and have not maintain streak consistent good form but the current one we're all seeing means stellar development for the player. Joselu needs more growth because he will be a promising player for Real Madrid. He's experienced and knows how to position for goals, not giving up because he's doing everything to deliver his best for the club.

Joselu is performing well with Real Madrid. Even Joselu's performance in the last season was very good. He scored a lot of goals in La Liga. This season I would say Joselu has been successful so far with Madrid. But I think Ancelotti is not too keen on Joselu. Madrid probably won't sign a long-term deal with Joselu. So Ancelotti is doing his best to make Rodrygo and Vini more experienced. That's why Ancelotti doesn't give much chance to Joselu in Madrid's starting XI. However, if Joselu is used properly, Madrid's road to the title will be much easier. Because Vini and ROdrygo are still quite inexperienced.

But has a long-term engagement of Joselu at Real Madrid ever been the plan? And why would it even have been the plan considering that Joselu will soon be 34 years of age? I don't understand the discussion about Joselu and whether he is a top striker and if or if not Real Madrid plans to extend the contract. Joselu has always been a second best solution. Nobody ever said that Real Madrid hopes for Joselu to become the next Ronaldo. He was a backup just in case no other transfers can be completed.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 02, 2024, 05:16:36 PM
Roma should have been aware that De Rossi need time to transform the team. It would be unfair to expect immediate and drastic changes under De Rossi. Competing at the highest level requires a well-rounded and competitive squad. Relying solely on results might lead to short-term gains but may not be sustainable in the long run. Developing a more cohesive and effective style of play is essential for sustained success, and it's positive that the club leadership recognizes this by evaluating De Rossi's performance beyond just immediate results.

The contract structure with an extension based on performance adds a layer of accountability that motivates both the coach and the team to work towards long-term improvement. With many games left in the season, there's ample opportunity for De Rossi to implement changes and for the team to showcase progress both in results and the quality of their gameplay.

I agree and of course they should be granted some time as new coaches when they come to the team and their main task is to do some changes to improve the team. But in the soccer business it is always the same. The reason why they fired Mourinho and now got De Rossi is because they want results fast. Otherwise they could have waited to change the coaches until the end of the season. I think this is the message they wanted to convey to De Rossi. They give him the chance now because they want results now.
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: February 02, 2024, 05:06:24 PM
Though AS Roma haven't faced a known strong team since they appointed Daniele De Rossi as Jose Mourinho's successor at the club but we can't shy away from the fact that the young Italian manager have been able to win his first two league games for the club as well as a club friendly game with Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab.
Roma will be facing Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League in two weeks time and many are of the opinion that Daniele De Rossi won't be able to reach the round of 16 ahead of their Dutch counterparts but with what he's done so far, it's obvious that Roma under De Rossi can beat any side

De Rossi hasn't really had a lot of time to prepare his new team and make a lot of adjustments. I think the possibilities he had so far to influence the team positively were quite limited, but they still had some good results that they can look back on and take with them some confidence from the games. 73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: January 31, 2024, 10:42:27 PM
I am a bit concerned that Roma lacks some balance within their team. On the one hand they have great offensive players like Lukaku or Dybala when he is fit, but then I think there is some gap in between their defense and their offense. Their backwards movement within the team as a whole is not very good at the moment. Maybe this is something that De Rossi can fix and stabilize them defensively. If they have a stable defense and go from there, Lukaku and their offensive players can win them the games. But if you look at the whole Roma squad, it's not the highest quality in Serie A let alone in the Europa League. Still though this doesn't mean they can't make it very far.
At the beginning of De Rossi's arrival as Roma coach, replacing Jose Mourinho, quite a lot of people doubted that he could take Roma a step further in the Europa League this season, but in the 2 matches that De Rossi has played with Roma, it was quite impressive and I think this could be The benchmark that Rome cannot be underestimated either.
I think in the Europa League this season there are quite a lot of teams that have almost equal quality so it is quite difficult to predict.

The two matches aren't that meaningful with regards to what is coming Roma's way in the Europa League. The opponents in Serie A weren't the strongest and now there is Feyenoord Rotterdam waiting for them. I know that Feyenoord Rotterdam is not one of the top clubs in Europe, but as a good reference point I think you can take the game against Lazio on matchday 6 in the Champions League group stage and Feyenoord won that game 3-1. It was a well deserved win and I think that shows what can be expected from the team from the Netherlands.

De Rossi has only brought two wins for Roma and I don't think we should say if he is able to handle Roma now, there are still a few matches to see the true quality of De Rossi and if he is able to overcome big teams later, if yes then it is appropriate for us to Hats off to him, currently Roma have only beaten two small teams and that cannot be a benchmark for De Rossi success.
Apart from that, two weeks after Morinho left, of course Roma game scheme has not changed much and of course the Roma players are still using the same tactics and style of play from Mourinho has been implementing it all this time. De Rossi only handles the team that was formed by Mourinho and so far we have never praised Mourinho when he wins against small teams but it is actually different when now it seems like De Rossi is doing more when he is only able to win 2-1 against Salernitana, isn't that not fair?
I think Mourinho dismissal from Roma was not because he was unable to handle Roma, but because of his bad relationship with management who did not want to provide a budget to buy decent players for the Roma squad.

Those are actually my words as I said that De Rossi can't have changed the team entirely within no time and for the time being the only thing that counts will be the results because Roma must somehow try to qualify for something. I think the Europa League is the smallest goal they have while the Champions League, in my opinion, would be too much for them. Even if they qualify I don't see how they would have a chance to reasonably compete with most of the other teams next year, but who knows.

But since the season still has so many games to go, it can't be about the results only because playing for results only will lead to failure at some point. They need to improve their game on almost all positions and this is what the club leadership wants to see and this is also why De Rossi has a contract that will expire in Summer unless he does sufficiently well to qualify for an extension.
75  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 31, 2024, 10:16:34 PM
I think Xavi should stay longer at Barcelona.

Absolutely agree! Barca dominated the league last year. This year they are struggling, but this is more due to the financial limitations of the club and players like Lewandowski or Gundogan are not in form or have already passed their peak. Xabi is partly responsible for the transfer policy, so he should move on and build a new team. But I think that with the experience he has, he knows exactly what the situation is and has made the decision based on that. Therefore we must respect his decision.

I think a lot depends on the quality of the players around you as well. I mean Gundogan was building Europe's strongest midfield with De Bruyne in the Premier League and the Champions League last season. It was incredible how many important goals Gundogan scored and how many goals De Bruyne and Gundogan combined assisted. But what is the reason for Gundogan to not play as well in Barcelona as he did in Manchester City? Or why is Lewandowksi not as good in Barcelona as he was in Bayern Munich?

Definitely, one reason is that they are past their peaks. But I think that both of these players would still be performing better if they played for the same clubs where they actually peaked. There is only so much a good player can do if the players around are suddenly a whole level weaker than before.
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: January 30, 2024, 02:51:20 PM
It was a natural thing, Klopp resigned when Liverpool was at the peak of its glory. Mourinho was fired because of several bad matches.
It's different when Mourinho resigned when he won the European League trophy, of course this would be discussed and become hype on all media platforms.

Can De Rossi make Roma successful? I don't want to have too high expectations of him.
The most reasonable target is to keep Roma's table in the top 5 so that they have a big chance of qualifying for the UCL or Europa League.
If that can be achieved then De Rossi is worthy enough to be retained to coach Roma.
No objective is too impossible for an elite team to accomplish. Daniele De Rossi have recorded defeats in his managerial role incharge, he just need to become serious with the long counters with his opponents, no other better position will be landed for AS Roma other than watching the club compete for the top four in this current season. Daniele De Rossi is new and we're unfamiliar with his pattern of game, there's a whole lot he can identify for everyone to noticed in the team, he just need more time to make emphasis of the top games and bring back the formidable form of AS Roma.

There hasn't been any progress so far, whether Mbappe leaves PSG or not, Madrid will likely maintain their interest until the end of the season. As of now, there are no developments from either the player or the club, so this 25-year-old forward is heading towards free agency. While Madrid's manager, Ancelotti, seems to indicate that they can continue without him, it depends on the current team's ability, and relying on last-minute comebacks might not be sustainable. This approach may not last long, and Madrid might shift their focus to consistent results with dominant gameplay from start to end. It appears that there might be no deal until Mbappe becomes a free agent.

I assume that all parties agreed that there won't be any speculation about his transfer until shortly before the next transfer period starts or until PSG gets eliminated from the Champions League. The timing for discussions about Mbappe would be so bad now. They still have goals to achieve with PSG and who knows if both Real Madrid and PSG advance to the next round, it would be a nightmare if right in that moment it would be the hottest topic to discuss Mbappe's transfer instead of the game between those two teams, which should be the center of all attention. Of course there will be transfer speculations when they meet in the Champions League, but if any pre-agreements would be leaked, that wouldn't make the situation any better.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 30, 2024, 02:25:41 PM
There is a fact we can not deny, they are getting better results in two latest matches than previous matches with Mourinho. We also can not ignore another fact that in previous matches, Roma and Mourinho had to play against stronger clubs so losing points is not something strange. With two winnings, De Rossi and Roma can move onward with more confidence about themselves and they need to beat strong clubs to prove that they are ready for top four. Brilliant form is not important and the ultimate purpose is joining top four.

You will never find a top coach that would glorify a bad performance because of a good result unless it was a knockout game where all that counted was the win. It is the win that counts, but coaches want to see progress besides the results because they know that bad performances will give you good results in a very limited number of cases. Instead, coaches want reliable and stable performances because that is the recipe for long term success.

If you say we can't deny the fact that they got better results, true. But we can't deny the fact that they didn't play any better than before is also true. If you disagree and you are interested, let me know how exactly Roma performed better in the last two gams apart from the results and what makes you positive for the next games based on the last two games except for the results.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 29, 2024, 10:13:15 PM
We should probably make decisive actions regarding the matches of the present form of AS Roma, because they're gradually falling back to brilliant form. AS Roma nets a goal against Sportiva Salernitana, it wasn't tough for the visitors because they came prepared, they have everything in plan and pulling big shoots for the best. Daniele De Rossi should be allow to carry his own operation because he's in charge, perhapes he shouldn't be distracted from doing the main job he was appointed for. We know AS Roma can be vulnerable most time but with the presence of the new coach, alot of things are limited for the club.

Excuse me, but this is so wrong...

They are not gradually falling back to brilliant form. They are actually miles and miles away from brilliance and this result against the last team of the Serie A table standings only came to happen because Roma had two shots on target and both hit the back of the net. In the entire game they had two shots on target, that was all they had against the weakest team in Serie A. my conclusion would certainly not be that they are gradually getting back to brilliant form. It would rather be that they are as weak as before, but got away with a good result and are at least stabilizing with respect to their results. But this has nothing to do with great soccer. It was an insufficient performance that won't get them very far in the competition for the fourth position.

80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 29, 2024, 09:42:06 PM
Currently, Modric is getting fewer playing minutes than Kroos, but I think Ancelotti has other reasons for that. Modric is the oldest player at the club and perhaps currently his performance is not so good if he is used from the first minutes of the match. Because Ancelotti often included him in the second half as a substitute. If Modric is aware of course he will accept that decision, especially since Ancelotti has to give a lot of playing minutes to his young players. Going to the Saudi league will only make his passion decrease and it would be better for him to retire at Real Madrid.

This has really nothing to do with his quality as a player per se, but age isn't just staying away from him. Ancelotti let's his team play a pretty dynamic tactic and it is a lot about speed and also counter attacks. When Kroos and Modric were on their top physical level, it was still affordable to have two players that can control the speed of the game and are rather known for keeping the game under control. I think that changed a bit and Ancelotti now still wants one player like Kroos or Modric, but he likes to have more pace on the pitch with the younger midfielders. It's quite normal really and whether Modric ends up in Saudi Arabia, good question. It would be odd somehow.
