The decrease in the intensity of the operation
Similar to how a sinking ship has a decrease in the intensity of floating.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60916098Russia has announced it will "drastically reduce" military combat operations in two key areas of Ukraine "to boost mutual trust" in peace talks. [...] Officials in Washington said they had already seen the Russians draw away from Kyiv, but they were still pounding the capital with air strikes and the US had little confidence that it marked any significant shift or meaningful retreat.
"mutual trust" my ass. Russian forces have been stalled there for a month with and Ukrainians started to counterattack.

@suchmoon - you mentioned something about Rodgers wanting more money and I want to say you kind of hinted towards it being a bit selfish..I think I actually defended him a bit in that regard but you were dead on. Him being okay with letting Adams be traded, since they didn't have the money to keep him long term, really does show a lot about Rodgers greediness, willing to let the best WR in the game go like that.
Yes, I do consider him to be greedy, or at least more greedy than other top QBs when it comes to making money vs building the team. I'm not sure what's the management's angle on this. Why pay so much for a QB who's on the way to retirement, instead of rebuilding the team. Jordan Love must be loving this, if you excuse my lame pun.

Why are companies supposed to take sides exactly?
They're not taking sides for the sake of taking sides or for some moral high ground, it's because of sanctions and sometimes reputational costs (i.e. if they think that financing a murderous psychopath dictator via taxes reflects badly on the brand and can cost them more in lost sales elsewhere).

FT reports that Putin may no longer demand "denazification": https://www.ft.com/content/7f14efe8-2f4c-47a2-aa6b-9a755a39b626 (paywall) Russia is no longer requesting Ukraine be “denazified” and is prepared to let Kyiv join the EU if it remains militarily non-aligned as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations, according to four people briefed on the discussions.
This might be a tough time for Kremlin-paid bitcointalkers so please be kind to them while they are waiting for new talking points and are trying to forget everything they said about nazis in Ukraine. In reality of course it's all bullshit because nothing Putin says or does can be trusted.

No objective, rational person can support Trump while claiming the left is "Authoritarian". It's not "the left" that's launched an attack on the free press, or undermining the election process. You don't have to worry about Biden trying to get the DOJ or the Pentagon to help him stay in power if he loses the next election or fail to respect the peaceful transition of power.
Yeah but you're forgetting Biden's Ukrainian-Chinese bio-warfare birds and 5G vaccines. Did Trump ever do anything like that? Checkmate. (I can't stop being amazed at how Putinists and Trumpists keep finding common ground... must be one of those coinkidinky things, there is no way that Kremlin could have brainwashed 1/3 of US population)

And if they increased BUDGET model production by 20% you'd be screaming how bad the economy is, "people can't afford the more expensive phones anymore". Dumb consumerism is dumb. Blowing money on disposable crap is not an indication of strong (or weak) economy, it's an indication of stupidity and vanity.

Is there a way to search for multiple terms? You searched for "a"; would it be possible to search for "a" OR "i", in case the post is missing the letter a?
Yes, just add it with a "+", i.e. &search=a+i+e etc (just make sure searchtype is 2). Test
|
|
|
Try this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search2&advanced=1&searchtype=2&userspec=*&all=&brd[39]=39&submit=Search&minage=0&maxage=7&show_complete=0&sort=numReplies/asc&search=a
39 is the board ID for B&H maxage is how many days you want to search. "a" at the end is the search criteria, it's required so I picked a very common letter that should match nearly any post. No guarantees, but I flipped through the B&H board and found only one thread without replies in the last week and that thread is showing up at the top of the search results when using the URL above, so it seems to be working.

As soon as Putin announced that Russia would sell gas for rubles
He can announce that he's the King of Mars, that doesn't make it real. Frankly, I was more surprised by the sanctions from Switzerland, which has remained neutral for more than 300 years and did not refuse service even to Hitler.
Yeah a good hint as to how bad Putin's regime is.

I am not sure why their contracts stipulated ONLY $ and euros, apparently, but they are valid contract nevertheless. You can't just ask to be paid in rubles when the contract says: euros (for example). There might be willing intermediaries, though (for the low low 5% or something).
Putin doesn't need rubles, he has all the rubles that he can print, and he's the only supplier because no sane country/bank/etc would hold that worthless crap. Even if e.g. Germany wanted to pay in rubles, they'd be buying them from Putin anyway and giving them back to him. Anyway, it's all just propaganda for Russian population despite the best efforts of Kremlin botfarms to make it seem like some grand tactical move.

Narendra Modi
Exactly my point. Listening to that shit turned your brain into porridge. It's not a coincidence that dictatorships like China - or wannabe dictatorships like Serbia or India - that have their own territorial delusions are Putin's biggest supporters. Should probably start working on plan B if the "world's best / 2nd best / 3rd best (depending on whom you ask) military" with crusty WW2 equipment and untrained hungry cannon fodder is unable to fulfill Putin's ambitions.

It's a war between 2 dictators
LOL fucking hell... brain damage from too much TV is a real thing apparently. I know "election" is a foreign concept in Russia but if wikipedia is not banned yet - read up on it. This obsession with strongman personality is mostly responsible for the shithole Russia finds itself in right now. OTOH - take out Zelensky and Ukrainians would probably fight even harder because their fight isn't about one person.

This sounds like the old OgNasty vs. Lauda/Vod/whoever feud rearing its puckered head even though the old clique that generally disagreed with OgNasty and his supporters has largely disbanded. Is that what this is?
Yes. Og is off his rocker completely and has been for a while. I'm starting to think that having an actual ongoing conflict was what kept him half-hinged, so now he's just randomly attacking people trying to provoke something.

Showing off should have a limit, should have a boundary to feel ashamed. I have a very simple solution for shameless and annoying excessive self-praising: click Ignore A better solution would be to move those threads to e.g. Off Topic, and IIRC I've reported a few as such but that never happened. There is nothing meta or "reputational" about it - I've been here 1000 days, look at me, LOOK AT ME!!!! - and even if massive amounts of merit have been earned it doesn't have anything to do with trading reputation or "discussion about the Bitcoin Forum". Personal achievement, yes, but everybody can see user's rank and merits on every post. Having said that, I have posted a few times in the generic/aggregate threads like one here, these are fine IMO, and I guess OP's idea in theory would be fine but unlikely to eliminate individual bragging threads I think.

To be fair, a member of Moscow Duma doesn't speak for Russia's foreign policy any more than some hillbilly in Podunk town council could speak for US foreign policy. Same goes for some idiot on Russian state TV vs Tucker Carlson.
Having said that, Lavrov and Zakharova have been talking shit too, but theirs is more generic, like we reserve the right to fight the imperialist pigs if they attempt to give airplanes to Ukraine etc, because really that's the only thing they can do - try to scare NATO, "look, we're absolute morons and can't be trusted, don't push us or we'll use nukes". I doubt they actually would.
"Cold" war is pretty much in progress. Russia has cut itself off quite comprehensively, propaganda is massive, sanctions are in place. I could see Putin taking on Moldova if they could take Odessa, but that seems increasingly unlikely. Same for other places that he fucked with previously, like Georgia - there are rumors that Russia is actually moving troops out of Ossetia to replenish losses in Ukraine.

Putin declared the freezing of funds of the Central Bank of Russia the default of the West and carried out a soft nationalization without causing internal protest from his voters. This is a strong move.
AKA propaganda with no actual economic impact.
|
|
|
That is, in response to any attempts by the West to withdraw money from Russia in the amount of up to $ 300 billion, instead of money, investors will be issued promissory notes with instructions to pay them from the funds of the Central Bank of Russia frozen by sanctions. The problem with the West is that it has never fully understood the Russian mentality. You can't steal $300 billion without consequences. Russia was already expected to default on it's debt as soon as next month. The desperate attempt to cover it up with "promissory notes" is quite comical.

See that's the thing with honest people. Usually there is not much to say about them. As opposed to sleazy scammers who tend to create "name recognition" on this forum.
I would trust owlcatz. That's all there is to it. Check his trust feedback.
Meanwhile the lying ponzi-scheming ex-treasurer piece of shit can make up walls of lies without any remorse or repercussions.
Engage your brains fellow bitcointalkers.
