1321  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Dain 0.0.1: version 70002 on: March 05, 2016, 12:55:27 AM
Haven't checked my node to see if this version appeared there too. That being said there are many, many weird peers on the network... Also curious about those "Snoopy" versions that were out there, "0.9.99", "Marilyn" and many other curious ones I've seen throughout the years Cheesy
1322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we reopen this pull request? (remove Classicbase from bitcoin.org) on: March 05, 2016, 12:49:44 AM
Why? To further separate waters and create another bash-worthy discussion? There is no need... If we're going to do that, might as well remove all web wallets, because they do not comply with Bitcoin basics, because users of those wallets can't store the keys themselves.
1323  Economy / Gambling / Re: Lottery syndicate available for bitcoiners on: March 05, 2016, 12:46:03 AM
You'd probably have better luck promoting your site in Gambling
1324  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 'Vote with your bitcoins' system in Core on: March 04, 2016, 08:20:31 PM
This is not feasible. The advantages of having such a system do not justify the work needed to implement it. I also don't see how this could be implemented on the code (but I'm not a coding expert). Also, this is why we have places to discuss...

And this too:

-Vote with your money, the more money you have the more voting power, running it just like a stock company

Are you sure you would like this? This would mean that if I had 10000 BTC and you had 10 BTC my opinion would be more valid than yours... You can have 0 BTC and have very accurate and valid opinions about Bitcoin.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First OpenBazaar transaction went through on: March 04, 2016, 08:10:59 PM
I bought USB cables on OpenBazaar over a year ago.
As for the updated OpenBazaar, I was trying to use the prebuilt binarys on Linux 64 and Win 64, but many of the directories the binary looks for are dead links.
If anyone got the 64-Bit binarys to work without many file changes, I would be surprised.
I do keep in mind this is just a test release and many bugs are expected.

Already used it on the mainnet a year ago?
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine on: March 04, 2016, 11:53:15 AM
I wonder what the price of electricity in China is. I would guess it's along the lines of 5 cents a kilowatt or something. Does anyone know the real price?

You can check that here. It's more or less that, some places go as far as 2/3 cents if I'm not mistaken.
1327  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Bad signature for *.deb files in bitcoinarmory.com on: March 04, 2016, 11:28:57 AM
Armory is changing hands. We are not sure who is running bitcoinarmory.com anymore. goatpig is now the sole developer, you can download Armory here
1328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First OpenBazaar transaction went through on: March 04, 2016, 11:21:36 AM
Congratulations. You probably made a piece of history. Let's see if OB "opens shop" on the mainnet soon Smiley
1329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine on: March 04, 2016, 11:11:52 AM
This was everywhere back then. Here's and example

And they're not the biggest mining operation in China... And half a year later they most likely got hit with Chinese mines using hydro power. Not sure where they're at now, it would be cool to see what's up with them a year later. I doubt they had shut down and if they did, it was probably just to move location to where power is cheaper.

So in July, their revenues get cut in half uess the price of bitcoin doubles?

not a bad bet.

here's a secret Ethereum mine

2 minutes well spent!

The guy is a legend. Better than seeing an Ethereum video Grin
1330  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's your favourite blockchain browser? on: March 04, 2016, 11:04:08 AM
Blockchain, Blockr and Block Explorer, in that order.
1331  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Looking for The Times 03/Jan/2009 Newspaper to purchase on: March 03, 2016, 11:15:52 PM
The silliness in this and the other threads is strong.  Newspapers don't make good collectibles anyway imo.  I have 2 papers frim 9/11/01 that have not held up well.

It's not silly when something has value.
This is true, & I won't argue that. I just question whether a newspaper from this particular date has any real value. And I'm warning against keeping newspapers as collectibles. It's hard to do.  And the only real reason I question value in this case is because of the ridiculous amounts that are being asked.

To me, it does, and to many other people too... And it has quite a high value that I, unfortunately, can't afford Smiley

I think placing this in a glassed frame would help conserve it for quite a few years.

This is a bit like Bitcoin itself: why do people value it? Wink

Why not you search on google?if you only need the news, you can find this online for reading

The article in question is a collectible... Unless you feel searching for the article online and printing it is the same as having the physical edition of The Times from that day, then you're totally right Grin Wink

1333  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Moving forward with Armory on: March 03, 2016, 07:20:48 PM
I just quickly want to chime in and also thank all the people that have worked on Armory so far and will do so in the future. I is my favorite wallet and I will follow this new branch closely. What is the best channel to follow about major new features and releases? Is there a donation address for this new OS Armory branch?

The best channel to know more about new releases is here, especially this thread, for now. As said before, no donations accepted by goatpig, at least for now.
1334  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Looking for The Times 03/Jan/2009 Newspaper to purchase on: March 03, 2016, 07:14:17 PM
you can get it at this website for £34.99($49.26) http://www.historic-newspapers.co.uk/

You can't.

1335  Other / Archival / Re: I need an opinion from you guys! on: March 03, 2016, 05:41:16 PM
This does not seem legit. Looks like a ponzi or something similar.
1336  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Looking for The Times 03/Jan/2009 Newspaper to purchase on: March 03, 2016, 05:39:32 PM
anydate.com

The site sells old newspaper. You can check if they have it there

They request payment but do not show proof of having The Times from this date... Any feedback on these guys? I feel like someone is going to risk those 85$ + shipping and they're not going to get anything.
1337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How am I losing bitcoin? Please see screenshots on: March 03, 2016, 05:33:20 PM
You either sent that transaction, or someone sent it for you. Change your password (and secure your coins better than on an online wallet).
1338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World's First Bitcoin Mining IPO Misses Target by AUD $14 Million on: March 02, 2016, 04:28:14 PM
This just means people are losing faith in cloud mining, basically. There's a constant fear that they'll be scamming... As for profitability, don't know and don't really care about their electric rates Cheesy
1339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you call someone with 1000BTC? on: March 02, 2016, 04:24:29 PM
In my opinion he's just someone with 1000 BTC, no specific names... He's be a millionaire with 1000000 BTC Cheesy
1340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: RPi Zero BTC Node? on: March 02, 2016, 09:17:42 AM
Pi 3 is already released and going out fast (but not enough to be already out of stock, so you can get it fairly easily). 64 bit will certainly be an advantage for things related to cryptography... But we'll see if it will be a major improvement for Bitcoin. I doubt that a bit. An improvement to run a node would be more RAM, and that's not possible with the current SoC on the Pi.

Wow that was really fast. So that means I could get my hands on one and improve my BTC node. Still, I would also order a Pine 64+ which has bigger RAM and will be suitable for running a BTC node as well.  Smiley

Well, it took some time for development, but yes, it was quite fast to be released after the rumors. After all, Raspberry Pi's anniversary day was the best and obvious choice to release a new product.

Pine gives you 2GB + Wi-Fi for 39$, excluding shipping, making a little bit more expensive and shipping in May only... I'm not sure if I'll be getting one just to upgrade RAM in order to run a bigger node as my personal usage does not require 2GB RAM (neither a Wi-Fi chip for that matter... I'd settle for 2GB without Wi-Fi which has a much more appealing price).

Also, no reviews and low community support doesn't inspire me confidence in Pine, yet. Things might change if or when I can afford running bigger nodes just because Cheesy
