1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: Today at 02:09:59 AM
It is being reported that Ryan Garcia has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. It is really disappointing that this great win is now tarnished and will probably be overturned. There was so many potentially great fights that will now have to wait and may not even materialize.

There was even talk of Ryan being the new face of boxing after he gained millions of new followers after this win. Unfortunately, Ryan can’t manage to get his act together. He is more interested in being an influencer than having a legitimate career.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: May 01, 2024, 08:54:08 AM
There are a lot of great 122 lbs in history, for sure you are familiar with Manny Pacquiao as he was once a champion at this division. And we will forget about Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales fights at 122 lbs?

I doubt though that a grown ass man can put down a pro 122 lbs. This are train assassins with their hands as their deadly weapon.

The first three fights between Rafael Marquez and Israel Vasquez were also in this weight class and are considered some of the greatest fights of all time. Even thigh there is usually more talent in higher weight classes, super bantamweight has always been a notable exception.

Size isn’t all that matters. Inoue might be shorter than average, but has managed to reach the top of the pound for pound rankings and become a major attraction, selling out the Tokyo Dome. Skill level and entertainment value are what really matter the most, which is why this bout is so highly anticipated .
3  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: April 30, 2024, 08:22:52 AM
I wish there were some logic, but unfortunately, there isn't. I have already written about it several times, some providers are available to me in every crypto casino (BGaming, BetSoft, QuickSPin...), and some providers are available to me in some casinos and not in others (NoLimit, Hacksaw, Yggdrasil. ..), only Pragmatic was off limits for me in all casinos, until some new casinos came and now I can play Pragmatic in several places without a VPN.

I have asked several times what the trick is with those things, but I never got any "smart" answer, as it all depends on the license... So I am sure I can play ELK without VPN one day in some casino, but who knows when and where? Regarding VPN, several crypto casino reps have already written in their ANN threads that using VPN is allowed. I used it before just to play providers that were not available to me.

As long as someone isn’t using a VPN for multi-accounting or to bypass a self-exclusion or other type of ban it is generally acceptable at many casinos to use a VPN. It isn’t always the case so I wouldn’t take it as a guarantee and would be considerate of how much I’m willing to risk if they haven’t explicitly stated that it’s allowed.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 29, 2024, 05:41:20 PM
From what I've read this isn't an exhibition match but an actual real professional fight.  Who knows what the truth actually is at this point, but that seems to be the big news of the day.  That begs the question of who the oldest boxer is to have ever fought in a professional fight all time.  I couldn't find any information about anyone over the age of 58 having ever been in a professional boxing match, so I think after this fight Mike Tyson will be one of the oldest to ever do it.  He does seem in great shape though.  We'll see how it ends for him.  Hopefully with a 30 second knockout of Jake Paul in the first round.

ESPN is reporting that it will be sanctioned as a professional fight. They will fight 2 minute rounds instead of 3 minutes and they will use 14-oz gloves, basically sparring gloves. If they need special rules then it clearly shouldn’t be considered a professional fight.

Texas is known for having a very corrupt commission so it doesn’t surprise me they would allow this. This is the same commission that allowed Antonio Margarito to fight when nobody else would license him due to the plaster hand wraps incident. They also barely do any PED testing. I could go on and on with examples of why they’re one of the worst commissions.

Jake is desperate for recognition and validation as a legitimate fighter. I am sure there was some quid pro quo involved for them to allow this complete sham to take place.
5  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software on: April 28, 2024, 02:43:56 PM
I am sorry that a threat to Bitcoin and privacy like yourself is still here, but Tornado Cash or Samourai Wallet isn't.

Tornado Cash developers aren’t the martyrs you think they are. Just like zkSNACKs, they took precautionary measures to minimize the risk of getting their rights taken away and their lives destroyed by overzealous government persecution. Their website had a built-in compliance tool which would do chain analysis on your transaction. They also blocked US sanctioned countries from their domain.

6  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: [Noticia] Detenidos Co-Fundadores de Samurai Wallet on: April 28, 2024, 12:58:03 PM

7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 28, 2024, 12:25:14 PM
@btc_angela. This is what has been said by only the very few of the boxing fans in boxing forums and the fans in bitcointalk.org might be thinking that this is only a conspiracy theory if we mention it hehehee. If King Ry did not win against Devin Haney, I reckon everyone would remain to think that this is only a conspiracy theory. It is headshaking. Much of these fans want to think and only accept Tank Davis has won without speculating why and how. We were scammed by Tank. We should not support this type of person.

There’s no doubt Tank had an unfair advantage but Ryan bears some responsibility for agreeing to those terms. Canelo and Floyd have used similar tactics before, but it has not had much impact on their legacy. For me it diminishes their accomplishments, which is why I consider Beterbiev, Nakatani, and Bivol better pound for pound fighters than Canelo, even though many lists have him third only behind Inoue and Crawford.
8  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [List] Open-source Lightning wallets on: April 28, 2024, 06:48:12 AM
If Muun is considered a lightning wallet then Aqua and Marina are also lightning wallets. They are all using swaps to make lightning payments but the difference is Muun uses on-chain BTC while the others use Liquid BTC.

Blixt and Mutiny wallets are also good lightning wallets. Alby is a custodial wallet but it can be useful if you want to receive tips or donations while you are offline.
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk of jail for developers. Should you be anonymous? on: April 28, 2024, 06:37:44 AM
You are literally a wizard, time traveler or both  Smiley

Should public developers be anonymous? Now I think this is not going to help at all, since the intelligence agencies (the real predators) already have a dossier of them. Look at how they completely doxxed the Samourai developers during the takedown.

Best thing to do is to have the ability to organize a good legal defense.

Open source needs more lawyers.

Samourai was a legally registered company. The founders had used their real names when they registered. That is contrary to what Satoshi did, but then again Satoshi didn’t create Bitcoin as a for-profit business venture. I believe their original company was dissolved and then registered as an anonymous LLC in Wyoming but it would’ve been helpful if they’d been anonymous from the beginning.

Aside from developers keeping their identities private, their project needs to be as decentralized as possible. Samourai had a single point of failure which is their centralized coordinator. In contrast, with Joinmarket there isn’t a centrally controlled server that interacts with participants. They could still decide to target Joinmarket but it would be a much weaker case.
10  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Samourai wallet - what went wrong? on: April 26, 2024, 07:14:08 AM
Not only that, but the wallet's founders also would often bite into it and post provoking comments on social media. Here's a small example below:

Note: The connection between the approach U.S. authorities had and the above screenshot isn't just speculation, it's taken directly from the DOJ's report on the crackdown.

Knowing how hostile the U.S. government is towards cryptocurrency, privacy, and its geopolitical rivals, the ways in which they marketed their service were often incredibly foolish. If they were going to be this arrogant they should have made sure to develop the project in total anonymity and located in a jurisdiction with more respect towards individuals' right to privacy and financial autonomy.

The overall case against them has significant flaws. An offhanded remark made on Twitter should not be the reason why they spend decades in prison. Russian oligarchs have far better ways of laundering money through traditional investments and banking institutions. While those comments weren’t very tasteful, it is not enough evidence of a conspiracy to commit money laundering or evade sanctions. It would be different if they had actually been in direct communication with oligarchs, which is not the case.

The indictment documents against Samourai state that “KEONNE RODRIGUEZ and WILLIAM LONERGAN HILL, the defendants,
owned, controlled, managed, and supervised Samourai, which was engaged in the business of transferring funds on behalf of the public."
That is not how Whirlpool works but prosecutors are counting on jurors being too ignorant to understand that a non-custodial service does not meet the definition of a money transmitting business. Even some forum members who have many years of experience with Bitcoin did not understand that the coordinator never holds any user funds.

It will be difficult to win against a rigged justice system, but with a strong defense some of the charges might get dropped, which might limit the harm they want to inflict on privacy providers and Bitcoin users.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samourai Wallet seized by the feds on: April 25, 2024, 07:57:22 PM
You're lying, Wasabi's privacy software isn't broken. If you aren't lying, then prove it by tracing this Wasabi coinjoin:
This is not another Wasabi thread. I'm not attempting to de-anonymize Wasabi, all the evidence of people who used it and got caught speak for itself, but I know you'll blame the users that "they didn't use it correctly".

Those accusations are disingenuous and have been debunked numerous times already. The PlusToken scammers weren’t caught because they used Wasabi, they got caught because they were operating a ponzi scheme. Moreover, it’s well known they didn’t use Wasabi but instead a modified client they coded to specifically allow reusing the same address. A larger portion of their BTC was self-mixed, poorly, via repetitive UTXO splitting and merging. Also, they were using centralized exchanges which had their KYC information.

The Twitter hackers also used centralized exchanges as well as custodial mixers which you promoted and endorsed, yet I don’t see ChipMixer being blamed for their arrest.

Quote
Any user who shared their xpub should consider themselves traced already

This was repeatedly downplayed by their developers and their fanatical reply guys on social media. Anybody who dared to call it a vulnerability was relentlessly trolled. They had no regard for the possibility of exposing users to this risk, just as long as they were still collecting their fees, that’s all that mattered.
12  Other / Meta / Re: Is Samourai wallet now banned from Bitcointalk? on: April 25, 2024, 06:12:24 AM
The accusation of being an unlicensed money transmitter is frivolous and should not stand up in court. If Samourai is a money transmitter, then so is every other self-custodial wallet. The only difference between Samourai and other wallets is that coinjoin transactions are structured differently from a typical transaction by allowing multiple parties to spend together. Whether they should be banned from the forum doesn’t matter because nobody can use the whirlpool service anymore.

If coinjoin services like JoinMarket, Wabisabi, or a potential Whirlpool fork should be banned I think it would be a mistake. Coinjoining isn’t inherently criminal behavior. It is something which enhances user privacy, like using a VPN or Tor but for financial transactions.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Israil Madrimov vs Terrence Crawford on: April 25, 2024, 03:58:19 AM
The best fight on this stacked card might be Tim Tszyu vs. Vergil Ortiz. Ortiz was once considered one of the most promising prospects and was ranked #1 by the WBO, where Crawford was champion, and was also WBA mandatory. Unfortunately, his career was derailed by weight problems and health issues. Tszyu has proven to be a great fighter and will probably be favored, but if Ortiz can reach the potential many believed he had then he is capable of overcoming those odds.

For the main event, this is another nondescript Crawford opponent who looks good on paper but we have yet to see him tested at an elite level. I expect it to be a typical Crawford fight, where he might start slow but becomes increasingly more dominant as the rounds pass and he makes adjustments.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samourai Wallet seized by the feds on: April 25, 2024, 03:20:35 AM
The “land of the free” is a complete fallacy. A US-led global order has increasingly diminished freedom around the world. They went with the North Korean hackers excuse this time — no matter how minimal their involvement, there is always some convenient bad guy for them to justify wider surveillance, more regulation, and restricting how people are allowed to live their lives. You can’t use certain apps or technology because of vague “CCP spying reasons” or “it’s Kremlin propaganda”, yet Israel is allowed to spy on U.S. citizens and influence politics without media conglomerates and congressional representatives raising any concerns.

The reasons given for why they targeted Samourai are obviously BS. Any tool which enables users to transact outside their financial panopticon will be seen as a threat that cannot be allowed to exist. Whirlpool doesn't meet the legal criteria for being a money transmitting business. It’s simply a protocol for collaborative transactions. Arresting the Samourai developers is as absurd as arresting the Telegram or Session developers because those apps are used by pedophiles, drug dealers and hackers.

It might be argued that Samourai didn’t do enough to discourage illicit activity and were almost encouraging of it. If that was the case, they should be allowed to walk away with a fine, as is the normal standard when banks and corporations are implicated in money laundering.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 24, 2024, 08:01:21 AM
Then I did not get what is "prolonged beating". I understood from FinneysTrueVision post, that from his point, single a knocking out punch is less harmful, then 20-40 punches on a body or block (not mentioning head, as I doubt someone would still stand if he gets 20-40 jabs from heavyweight). Which is wrong. Even 1 punch to the head is harmful. A punch that knockout is many times dangerous, because brain gets such a damage, that switches off whole body and goes restart. Even doctors dont allow a person who was knocked out to even continue training for many days, while a person after body punches can go to gym and at least do stretching.

In terms of severity, losing the way Deontay Wilder did to Tyson Fury is worse than how Francis Ngannou lost to Anthony Joshua. Wilder didn’t get knocked unconscious the second time he fought Fury, but he was still on the verge of a life threatening outcome if his trainer hadn’t eventually called it off. It wasn’t just some cuts and bruises that Wilder suffered but also repetitive brain trauma throughout seven rounds.
16  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Give us referral, we'll give you your withdrawal on: April 24, 2024, 06:57:15 AM
A real DeFi website wouldn’t ask for your phone number or an email address in order to register. All you should need is a self-custodial wallet to participate. They also accept fiat deposits so it is clearly not a decentralized platform. They set up their website to display Bitfinex in the <title> section so they can trick people who find them on search engines into thinking they are legitimate. It’s such a poorly designed scam but I imagine there are people who are very new to crypto that might still fall for this.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bit.store card on: April 23, 2024, 03:29:17 PM
After charging me a $1 monthly fee for the second time this month my card suddenly stopped working. They posted the following message on Telegram:

Quote
Important Notification Regarding Your Bit.Store Virtual Cards

Dear Bit.Store Fam,

We have received an urgent notice from the issuing bank informing us that some bank cards will no longer be in service. In order to safeguard your interests, we will be removing the bank cards associated with your account.

Your funds are completely safe, and we recommend that you withdraw remaining balance from your card as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best regards,
Bit.Store Card Team

My remaining balance was too small to be automatically withdrawn so I have to request a manual withdraw and who knows how long that will take. I will not be applying for a new card with them because they have so many issues. PayWithMoon is supposed to relaunch soon. I hope I will have more success with them.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to properly report a post to the moderators? on: April 23, 2024, 06:24:49 AM
I will usually just write a brief description of what the user did wrong in the report. You don’t need a long drawn out explanation, a few details is enough for moderators to understand the reason why somebody is being reported.

If a violation is egregious enough, then it might be necessary to write a post in one of the dedicated threads for AI spammers, malware links, etc. or creating a new thread in the Reputation section when somebody has alt accounts they are using for behavior that is detrimental to the forum or a campaign.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 23, 2024, 06:03:46 AM
I agree that there won't be any serious type of "fight" going on, we will see the fight cut short if anything even remotely serious ends up for any of the fighters, but mine is more like unexpected punches type of thing. While we know that Mike Tyson packs a punch, meaning he could punch just once, a proper hit, like connects right to the chin, and Jake would be out cold, but I believe Jake would recover from that easily.

However, considering his age, I fear that if Jake gets lucky, not something that's easily possibly, I mean like lets assume he gets purely lucky, and punches right on the chin, Mike could have something that ruins rest of his life, just one bad punch and suddenly it's very dangerous for Mike Tyson. That's what I fear, that one punch.

Getting knocked out cold with a single punch isn’t as bad as taking a prolonged beating. It’s when a fighter takes sustained punishment for many rounds that we see them go into a coma and sometimes passing away or being severely impaired for the rest of their life. I don’t think this fight will reach the point where that happens, but it’s still completely irresponsible to be risking someone’s health in such an unnecessary money grab.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 23, 2024, 05:43:45 AM
What do you guys think about the Canelo Vs Munguia fight, which is not far away, on 4th May.
Bookies seem to be thinking it's going to be smooth sailing for Canelo. I'm not that big of a boxing fan and haven't been following Munguia's career that closely, but his record and KO rate (of almost 80%) look quite impressive.

Odds are very similar to Canelo Vs Bivol, when the Mexican was a big favorite but got outclassed by the Russian.

Are these fair or misplaced? Worth putting a few $ on Munguia?

The odds seem very fair. Similar to Garcia vs. Haney, there is a significant disparity in skill level. Munguia is a big puncher so we can’t completely count him out. Unlike Haney, Canelo has knockout power and can also take a punch. Munguia won’t be able to just impose his will by charging directly at Canelo. This will be a fight where Canelo’s higher IQ should make the difference.
