681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mastering Bitcoin Security: Tips, Tools, and Best Practices on: October 08, 2023, 01:43:33 AM
Apart from the fact that MetaMask is an altcoin wallet not a "shield"; technically you should keep your bitcoin offline so that getting your online system infected wouldn't affect them. And if you want protection install uBlock Origin and a decent Anti Virus on your system that has net protection.

I know a lot of people here dislike Ethereum, MetaMask does have a feature of potentially showing a warning if the user opens a phishing site, which I don't think uBlock Origin has that feature.

There's this one plugin that's made exclusively for blocking phishing sites though, so it should be a better pick than MetaMask. I forgot the name of the plugin.

Most browsers already have built in phishing protection.  uBlock Origin also offers additional protection against this. The default lists are already good enough for most people but if someone really wants to use Metamask's domain filter it can be imported into uBO by going into the dashboard and pasting the URL to the hosts.txt file from their GitHub. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MetaMask/eth-phishing-detect/main/src/hosts.txt

683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 07, 2023, 06:10:08 AM
I believe announcing the Fury-Usyk fight in Saudi adds more hype to this fight. If they want more hype, Bob Arum should've tried to put a Mexican or a Latino in the undercard to cater to their huge boxing community.

The Saudis don't have much experience in promoting major boxing events. They are more familiar with entertainment. This fight is being marketed more for a casual audience than die hard boxing fans. That's why they made it part of the Riyadh Season festival. The card might not be the most appealing but people will still watch it for the same reasons they watch Jake Paul fights.
684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 07, 2023, 05:44:25 AM
A mentor is not really necessary. Information is easily available through many sources. You can learn a lot from reading newsletters, visiting forums or watching YouTube videos. There are many diverse ideas within the Bitcoin community. Someone who is trusted by many people is Andreas Antonopoulos. He is a great educator but you don't want to rely on a single person's advice. There are many complex and sometimes even controversial issues which you will need to form your opinions independently.
685  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: October 06, 2023, 06:24:25 AM
I was wondering if all these reports of Twitter losing users and being a total failure thanks to Musk might be exaggerated but I looked at the numbers on SimilarWeb, which is a pretty reliable source of website traffic, and it does indeed show a sharp drop. Some of it might be bot traffic but if Musk was doing such a great job you would see an increase in genuine users and the drop off wouldn't be so dramatic.

As someone who uses twitter every single day for work, I have to say it is getting even worse nowadays. I keep tab on whats going on in the crypto world and the amount of irrelevant posts I see on the home page grows bigger and bigger. In fact, I am sure that irrelevant posts are a lot more than relevant ones. You can always go pick "following" if you want to, but that only limits to who you follow and what they posted, "for you" should be regarding what I am interested in, and as a person who has over a thousand people I follow, its obvious that all of them are crypto and I should be seeing more finance and crypto related stuff, not some highlights of a football game, certainly not a small one neither, I get that if its like world cup finals then yeah show it to everyone, but why am I seeing bottom table serie A game goal highlights. Its getting more and more broken every single day.

The For You feed is awful and the Following feed only sorts tweets in chronological order so if you follow lots of people you will miss out on important tweets if you don't scroll down far enough. The reason why there are so many irrelevant posts showing up in people's feeds is because they are trying to disguise ads as organic posts. Even while using an ad blocker and using the web version I started seeing posts for electric vehicles even though I have no interest in them whatsoever. Unlabeled ads go against FTC regulation so we will see if they decide to take action.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When are we going to see the mempool empty again and 1sat/b confirmations? on: October 06, 2023, 04:36:27 AM
I've had a pending 1 sat/vByte transaction for several months. After the Ordinals and BRC-20 spam started clearing I was hoping it would receive confirmation over the weekend. The most recent difficulty adjustment was a few days ago but less transactions volume has led to declining hashrate and as a result the average block time has gone up slightly so it might still take a while to fully clear the mempool.
687  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 06, 2023, 03:17:11 AM
20% APR is very good for Bitcoin trading. Over the past year Bitcoin is up 35% so these returns are certainly realistic. Bitcoin isn't as volatile as it was in its early years. It is possible to have many months of sideways price action and it can take a long time to recover from bear markets. If you were buying Bitcoin leading up to its all time high your strategy might have failed and you would have negative returns right now.
688  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: October 05, 2023, 07:25:34 AM
Twitter or X is as active as never before. I don't think Elon Musk can fck it up that hard that people start seriously switching to another platform. Even if they gonna implement a subscription model, most people will just pay.

YouTube has more of a monopoly than Twitter and has taken aggressive measures to try and force people into subscribing to YouTube Premium and yet only about 3% of users have actually subscribed.

We don't know exactly who owns that account, but I think if Elon is really a fan of bitcoin then he should delete that account because it will cause a lot of misunderstanding in the bitcoin community. I also saw this news and people are discussing this issue a lot, there is even a topic discussing this fake account on our forum. What's more worth mentioning is that this fake account even bought Twitter's blue checkmark, which will make many people easily mistake this as really the real Satoshi.

When Jack Dorsey was running Twitter they did suspend the @Satoshi account soon after it was suspected that Craig Wright had taken over. With Musk reversing all the previous suspensions it has given scammers an opportunity to spread disinformation. They have already set a precedent of suspending parody accounts and this isn’t any different. If Craig can’t prove he’s Satoshi, the account is in violation of rules regarding impersonation and should be suspended.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 05, 2023, 05:59:06 AM
Anthony Joshua and Ryan Garcia joined Derrick James' stable knowing he's got a unified champion in Errol Spence and an undisputed champion in Jermell Charlo in his gym. But since these two fighters joined James, the flagships of the stable not only lost but were badly beaten by Crawford and Canelo.

Although I believe James knew Charlo's chances against Canelo. The guy is over a year inactive and then moved up two divisions north without a tune-up for Canelo. It was a clear money grab on the part of Charlo who's expected to receive around $5 million in that fight. I believe Jamal tried his best to prepare Charlo but the guy came there to survive and not to win.

It's hard to really know how good of a trainer Derrick James really is. Charlo and Spence have had very good careers but much of that is due to Haymon's influence and being able to have complete control of 147 and 154. If Crawford hadn't been iced out by PBC both of their reigns might have ended much sooner.

This young boxer had been in many fights before that pro debut. Technical boxer like Floyd Mayweather but he has the punch that can knock down his opponents just like in the video although I don't think he cannot make them sleep.
It's good though as long as he has the stamina and I like the aggressiveness from the start of the fight. That jab was so accurate that it made his opponent fall down.
Yes, the future of him looks good as long as he can keep up winning more of his bouts.

Accurate amateur statistics are very difficult to find. Even what is shown on BoxRec is incomplete. According to various online sources, Moton had anywhere between 59 and 156 amateur victories.

His pro debut was very typical of any prospect. It won't tell us much about how good he will be. Because of his size and who his promoter is he will be compared to Tank Davis. Moton doesn't seem to have Tank's devastating power so that is something that Floyd will have to take into account and match him intelligently until he is ready for better opponents.
690  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: October 05, 2023, 05:06:05 AM
Hello gamblers,

Are we allowed to use freebitco.in as a BTC mixing services?

Is there any rule on limits (and other related constrains) about depositing and withdrawing BTC for the purpose of earning daily interest?

(If these are addressed already, kindly link me).

You can't use FreeBitco.in to launder illicit funds but if you just want to break the on-chain links to your previous transaction history for privacy reasons it is technically possible like with any custodial wallet.

Under the "Earn BTC" tab it has an FAQ that says interest is credited at a random time each day to prevent people from gaming the system. If you intend to deposit and withdraw frequently you might not get much benefit from the daily interest.
691  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Double bitcoin scam websites on: October 04, 2023, 04:24:27 AM
It has something to do with ignorance I used to be like that I thought back then that HYIPs are legit and they are backed by legit companies that are licensed because we have online banking and being ignorant makes us think they are the same until you got scam that's where you do research, they say experience is the best teacher but online you can skip that if you know how to research and use your common sense before investing.
These scammers know that noobs online are endless there will always be new victims coming in or getting into their trap.

I remember a lot of HYIPs were registered in the UK. They alway claimed they were doing forex trading and offered ridiculous returns like 9000%.
HYIPs, doublers, and cloud mining investments are all very similar in nature. They're either traditional ponzis that pay a few early investors or just outright scams that take your money and don't pay anybody.

bitdouble.net is one more doubler scam site that's out there. This one's different because it's got a dedicated affiliate deal and it's saying it's certified. Their faq's says the minimum you're allowed to deposit goes from 0.003 BTC and the maximum is 0.5 BTC. The confusion they're causing with professional appearing scam sites helps bewilder ppl.

Inexperienced investors should be aware that even if their registration certificate is valid it isn't enough to give an investment program legitimacy. This website's registration number corresponds to a different company on the Companies House database but it's very easy to register a company in the UK and many scam websites are actual legally registered companies.
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: October 04, 2023, 03:31:18 AM
With all the hype surrounding Ryan Garcia and his last embarrassing loss to Tank Davis, the pressure is definitely on him to rebound and get himself a big win. Two losses in a row for a guy that everyone was claiming was going to be the next great thing would be pretty bad for his career. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

He may have been marketed as the next big thing but most fans are well aware of his limitations. The hype surrounding him is based more on his popularity than his talent. Golden Boy is going to match him carefully until they can cash out on him right before his contract expires. It'll be interesting to see if he can win impressively and remain a PPV attraction or if he will get exposed by one of these fringe contenders like Duarte before he is even able to challenge another champion.
693  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Transactions in mempool fell off a clif? on: October 04, 2023, 03:02:19 AM
A BRC-20 token called Sats which launched earlier this year finally finished minting all their tokens. The hype for Ordinals has also declined significantly. These NFTs and token minting were taking up a majority of blockspace but now that user interest has plummeted it alleviates the mempool backlog and reduces fees for monetary transfers.
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: October 03, 2023, 08:51:29 PM
I'm not too familiar with Duarte but his record looks good. He's fought decent opponents and has a high knockout percentage. He is coming off a knockout loss so I don't consider this a cherry pick. They could have chosen someone with more losses and less power. This is the kind of test that Ryan Garcia needs before he can fight another champion. There's no doubt Garcia will be the favorite but if the odds are too lopsided that it isn't very profitable to bet on him then it becomes really tempting to pick the underdog.
695  Economy / Economics / Re: Honda Now Accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum As Payment Methods on: October 03, 2023, 05:51:59 AM
"Such a surprise!" I thought when I saw the topic title. But when I began to study this issue a little deeper, my admiration began to rapidly diminish.

What do we have as a result? Honda began accepting cryptocurrencies through an intermediary, FCF Pay, which takes a commission of Flat fee of 3usd + 2%.

Who are FCF Pay (French Connection Finance)? FCF - is a dividend-generating cryptocurrency that operates on the BNB network (now it’s clear why this news was published on Binance Feed). As it turned out, Honda is not their only partner and this platform provides intermediary services to more than 20,000 counterparties.

The question arises: why is Honda (as well as many other partners of FCF Pay) unable to accept cryptocurrencies directly as payment for its products (auto\motorcycles, leasing, rent), but needs the services of intermediaries, like FCF Pay? Cryptocurrencies are designed in such a way that there is no need for intermediate platforms between the owner (crypto owner) and the seller (of goods and services) and they can interact directly, that is, p2p. Where p1 is crypto owner, and p2 is seller.

Even with these problems, it became possible to buy cars and motorcycles from a famous brand like Honda for cryptocurrencies, which is already a very good event.

It would have been better if Honda was using BTCPay to accept Bitcoin directly. It seems unlikely that mainstream companies with multi-billion dollar market caps will start adopting Bitcoin in any significant way. Instead we occasionally see a few companies use custodial crypto to fiat payment gateways where Bitcoin is an option along with a dozen or so scam tokens. As long as it gives Bitcoin some utility and legitimacy it's an overall good thing I suppose but there is still a long, long way to go before we see Bitcoin being accepted without intermediaries by these large corporations.
696  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for October on: October 03, 2023, 05:24:24 AM
After starting the month off with a nice pump, I feel October will be bullish for Bitcoin. After remaining stable for so long anything above $30k seems overly optimistic. $28k and above seems very reasonable. The U.S. avoiding a government shutdown should have a positive impact on investor confidence. Bitcoin whales are continuing to accumulate so I anticipate upward momentum as we head towards the halving.
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two guys that have lost their Bitcoins forever on: October 03, 2023, 04:47:03 AM
The seconds story is pretty insane. He wants to use AI and robot dogs and is being backed by hedge fund investors. I can see why his city council would be reluctant to accept his proposal. If I was a landfill worker I would probably be upset about having my work disrupted by a guy hoping to get rich quick. I can understand his desperation but he isn't entitled to any help that would massively inconvenience many peoples lives in order to correct his mistake.
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs the government on: October 02, 2023, 06:02:39 AM
The longer it takes for governments to decide how they want to regulate Bitcoin the harder it will be for them to ban it entirely. People have already seen the benefits that Bitcoin provides. It has gained enough adoption that politicians are trying to cater to that demographic. In order to secure support from those that Bitcoin appeals to they must do everything within their power to push back against those who are opposed to financial freedom.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Way to Mix the USDT on: October 01, 2023, 06:05:02 PM
Or to make it simple, use Tor on https://exch.cx/ to convert it directly. But https://exch.cx/is an instant exchange.

You mean that i use TOR to open this exch.cx and convert my USDT to XMR and then again convert XMR to USDT (to a new address)?

Also, i check that EXCH.CX does not have USDT trc20 ?

Sideshift.ai, FixedFloat.com and SimpleSwap.io all support Tron version of USDT as well as Monero. I've used them all without KYC but if you read their terms of service they all mention the possibility of denying your exchange if you are suspected of criminal activity.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: October 01, 2023, 05:50:21 PM
Next in line is probably Benavidez. Currently, he is the boxer that I think would really match Canelo. I'm not sure if Canelo will win, but if he does, then the finale would be to avenge his loss to Bivol.

Maybe we will see a good fight that time. However, I think that fight is not going to happen this year. We are already in the last quarter of the year, and Canelo has already had 2 fights. I think he will rest in the remaining months and enjoy the money he earned this year. Benavidez also has a great record, but I believe he is not on Canelo's level. He's probably just on the same level as Charlo, the boxer that Canelo beat today. Canelo's biggest challenge is Bivol; therefore, the rematch should happen.

In terms of skill Benavidez isn't a whole lot better than Charlo but he has other advantages. He is a natural super middleweight, he is younger, he is 6'2" (1.88 m), and is a bigger puncher than Canelo. Benavidez could easily be fighting at light heavyweight. He is not somebody that Canelo can just manhandle and impose his will through brute force. Canelo will have to outbox Benavidez but he's not nearly as fast and gets hit a lot more than when he was at his peak. It's a fight that can go either way but I favor Benavidez slightly.
