301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 30, 2024, 04:58:16 AM
That is the point. MMA has only part from boxing. Defence is different. Body position is different. Footwork is different. If in MMA they would try to walk behind opponents front leg like basics in boxing, then it would be an easy target for single leg take down. If they would lean and clinch in MMA like in boxing, then it will be more easier to take opponent down. It is like checkers and chess. Same board but two completely different games. That is why it is strange that the guy who played “checkers” all the time, would beat the guy who is worlds champ in “chess”.

Good points, but in this analogy, Ngannou would be more of a chess player and Fury would be a checkers guy (as MMA has more elements than boxing).
And, all of a sudden, a chess master beating a checkers master doesn't sound so incredible.

In MMA it is necessary to train in various aspects of combat that are not necessary in boxing. Because of this, an MMA fighter will focus on a variety of skills but is not necessarily concerned with having the best boxing, or muay thai, or jiu jitsu skillset. Focusing exclusively on one would neglect your other skillsets. Fury and Joshua have only trained in boxing their entire lives so therefore their skills are more refined for this discipline compared to Ngannou.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk ban promotion of other forums? on: January 30, 2024, 04:30:55 AM
I don't really consider altcointalk a competitor because its quality is still very inferior. They do have a kind of parasitic relationship with this forum where they are getting lots of backlinks and traffic from here. They do have their own token and their admins get easily accepted into signature campaigns. They are benefitting economically without giving much back. I hope they are at least investing some of their profits into improvements and maintenance of their forum.

At this moment it doesn't seem like a big enough deal where I think a ban is necessary. They aren't doing anything illegal. They might benefit from having their links here but that was done to accommodate users with established reputations who wanted to migrate their rank.
303  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: January 29, 2024, 07:12:34 AM
I will not read through all these giant walls of text, most of it is rehashing things which have been discussed many times already, but I will comment on a few of the posts I did read. Oeleo might've had some extreme views on certain issues but I don't hold him responsible for the actions of those who were renting his signature space. I only ever saw him recommend custodial mixers when people were specifically willing to trust a custodian to mix their coins. He could've been more outspoken about the risks associated with them but it is not his responsibility to stop people from doing something stupid. That doesn't make him complicit or a partner in their actions. It's something I hate about this forum but most people try to stay on the good side of those throwing lots of money at them.

I am not in agreement with zkSNACKS decision to prohibit supposedly "tainted" coins from entering their coinjoins but as a private business they have the right to deny their service to whomever they choose. Clearly regulators are not big fans of privacy services, and from my perspective, there was a high enough probability that if they had not made this choice their lead developers would be in a jail cell sitting next to the Tornado Cash devs, ChipMixer operators, and countless other mixers who have passed through this forum. It should be up to the free market to decide if they are willing to accept this compromise. While there is justifiable criticism against Wasabi, I find that a lot of it is entirely hypocritical or outright dishonest. Address reuse is not ideal when it happens in Wasabi, but it also isn't ideal when it happens in Samourai, or when it happened in Chipmixer. For some reason only when it happens in Wasabi do people on this forum consider it bad. In those other cases it was completely ignored because nobody wants to agitate certain merit sources and campaign managers who can ruin their reputation or exclude them from campaigns. Wasabi is also not "spying on their users". WabiSabi coinjoins are designed in a way where the coordinator can't really gather any useful information from participants. Some of these scenarios where they could deanonymize users seem too complex and expensive to be viable without it being detected. Somehow these spying concerns are dismissed when it comes to Samourai having access to xpubs. Developers lying directly to people's face is also not a concern. Developers and community being toxic assholes, also not a concern for the Whirlpool enthusiasts who will criticize Wasabi for these exact things. I'm not really a partisan and have used Wasabi, Samourai and other privacy services but there is a lot of inconsistency and double standards that sometimes I will defend Wasabi when certain arguments seem to be made in bad faith.
304  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Scammers use Patreon to send SPAM emails on: January 29, 2024, 04:36:55 AM
Even if your subscription expires or there is a creator you are interested in supporting in the future there is a free tier that you can subscribe to and receive email updates whenever there is something posted in that tier. Scammers can buy or hack inactive accounts and convert them into scam accounts and spam all the previous subscribers with phishing emails. Apparently, there was also a loophole which allows people to create an account without verifying the registered email and they will still send you notification emails when these scammers subscribe you to their phishing. Since there are free subscription tiers this type of attack costs them nothing.

It should be easy for Patreon to close this loophole by requiring an email to be verified before adding it gets added to a content creator's mailing list. It is a great practice to use a different email alias for every website you use so that if one of your addresses gets publicly exposed it can be deactivated and you won't you can stop receiving these malicious emails trying to target you.
305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 28, 2024, 06:23:13 AM
Both weigh-in below 168 lbs, Munguia and Ryder at 167.8 lbs, but it's good to see them making the weight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJAY-koXMCw

Munguia though looks fresh maybe because of his youth, but he is still the favorite in this fight. I wanted to see Munguia vs Berlanga though, I mean this two has been calling each other for quite sometime now and they are young that's why this fight is going to be equal though.

But let's see if Jaime can pass his big test against Ryder first.

Munguia was able to get the TKO win against a fighter who went the distance with Canelo. If Canelo doesn't fight Benavidez, then Munguia seems like the next best option. Munguia is never in a boring fight so I am sure against Canelo it will be a slugfest. Munguia's porous defense is his biggest weakness and would probably be his downfall against Canelo. It is still a good matchup on paper with potential to be fight of the year.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana Staking - Increased staking reward! From 7% to 11.5% CHANGED TO 9%!? on: January 28, 2024, 03:17:22 AM
Staking yield can be variable due to how many people are staking, Solana's inflation rate, and validator's fee revenue. Solana's price went down a lot after Bitcoin started dumping. That might have caused some people to unstake and move to stablecoins. With the price moving back up, more people will be interested in staking and the yield will go down once again.
307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tim Tszyu vs Keith Thurman WBO super welterweight Title March 31 on: January 28, 2024, 02:52:59 AM
Regardless of who wins or loses though, I think both these fighters are gonna put up a good fight and we might see a blockbuster boxing match right here. As OP mentioned both fighters are still pretty much in their primes and they have little to lose this early in their career so we might see these being the new Marquez Pacquiao rivalry of this season if not our era lol.

Thurman's prime was 7 years ago when he was beating Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Robert Guerrero. It is debatable how good he still is but not many people would still consider him in his prime. The fight against Pacquiao came when Manny was 40 years old and at the very end of his career. Manny had one more fight afterwards and he didn't look good at all.

Inactivity doesn't always affect fighters in a negative way but this is the third time Thurman's had a 2-year layoff in his career. This tells us he is not fully committed to boxing. He showed no interest in fighting Spence or Crawford when the opportunity was there. Tszyu is a younger and hungrier fighter. Thurman doesn't have any real experience at this weight class either. Tszyu might not be considered extraordinary but he is good enough to beat Thurman at this stage of his career.
308  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC🏎Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 28, 2024, 01:35:22 AM
Greetings all!

First time writing here... But it has come to my attention that a new site has appeared with the UI of FreeBitco.in, https://bnbfree.in. I've been looking around and this page is rather new (the domain is 42 days old). What is odd to me is that it only allows Gmail email accounts. Does anyone have some information on this? Sorry if this question doesn't belong here.

UPDATE 1:
Upon further inspection, the EARN BNB section gives it away, because some words have not been "translated" to BNB... Screenshot:

It is interesting because it is a nearly identical clone and works in almost the exact way as FreeBitco.in. The fact they only allow Gmail addresses makes me suspect they are a phishing site trying to get FreeBitco.in users' credentials. If people want to create an account with a throwaway temporary email service, to test if they are legitimate, they wouldn't be able to and have to use Gmail instead, which is most people's primary email and the one they are most likely to use on FreeBitco.in.
309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's wrong to save vital information on your phone. on: January 27, 2024, 06:25:09 AM
Criminals use all kinds of clever tricks to get people to give up their passcode and then wait for the right moment to steal their phone. Once they have gotten access they can go into all your apps and wallets to steal your money. They can also change your passwords and facial recognition so that you will be locked out of your iCloud and Google accounts, which will make it very difficult to remotely disable your phone.

Not only can you suffer significant financial damage but with your personal identifying information they can steal your identity and that will impact your life for many years in the future. If you are using your phone for trading or keeping large amounts of crypto then it is necessary to have a strong passcode and don't trust strangers who randomly ask you to do something which requires unlocking your phone.
310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rolando Romero-Isaac Cruz to meet on March 30 in Las Vegas. on: January 26, 2024, 10:39:49 AM
A PPV main event against Ryan Garcia would have been much more significant for either fighter instead of being on washed up Thurman’s undercard. I don’t get the logic of turning down better opportunities. Al Haymon is determined to keep everything in-house and make the most money possible for himself. Remaining loyal to PBC can be financially rewarding if you have the appeal of Spence, Wilder, and Davis who have had a lot of marketing behind their careers — for lower profile fighters it is often counterproductive and leads to inactivity and stagnation.
311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tim Tszyu vs Keith Thurman WBO super welterweight Title March 31 on: January 26, 2024, 06:34:31 AM
Thurman is a decent tuneup opponent for Tim Tszyu but for it being the main event of their inaugural Amazon Prime show it is kind of underwhelming.  It was just announced that the WBO refused to sanction it for their title, which is good news because Thurman didn't deserve that opportunity. He doesn't have any experience at junior middleweight and has only fought once in 4.5 years.

Also, making it a PPV is ridiculous. This isn't a fight people want to pay extra for. It might get a few buys in Australia but it's going to limit your visibility everywhere else.

It's puzzling why Erislandy Lara, who is on the undercard, was given a world title for beating a really weak opponent and then allowed to keep it despite not fighting for 2 years.

The co-main event is somewhat interesting. Rolando Romero, another WBA paper champion, will be facing Isaac Cruz. Since losing to Tank, their careers have been disappointing. The winner will be mandated to fight Ismael Barroso. It wouldn't be too surprising if the old man managed to beat either of them.
312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Changing email address getin problem on: January 25, 2024, 04:54:36 AM
The 2FA code isn't sent to your email. You have to import the 32 character secret key into an application like Google Authenticator and the app will generate a code for you. Just follow the instructions in the reply above and enter the 2FA code from authenticator app and it should change your email address. You will still generate valid 2FA codes even if you change your email address.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are these P2P crypto platforms SCAM? on: January 25, 2024, 04:45:15 AM
The platform itself won't scam you but when you are doing p2p trades there is some risk that that you might get scammed if you are receiving a payment which can be charged back. If you don't use escrow you can be scammed also. This happened to me once when I was using a new p2p exchange where I wasn't familiar how it worked and mistakenly sent a payment before the other user's funds were in escrow. I got scammed but it wasn't a major loss. You should start out with smaller trades when you are just beginning.

That is good news for fans of both Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol sure they wanted to see the fight between these two boxers and Turki Alalshikh is making it happen but it is still going to be the decision of both boxers if they like to fight at Saudi Arabia but for sure Turki Alalshikh will fund that fight that is for sure, and I saw that Turki Alalshikh wants to get Gervonta Davis to fight Devin Haney in Saudi Arabia aswell but Gervonta Davis has twitted “They made me mad. If they want me they gotta send something to my front door…like 2 Ferraris or sum! Like before I even THINK about going over there.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are much bigger names internationally than Gervonta Davis and we don't see them making these crazy demands just for the privilege of being able to negotiate. Either Davis has a massively inflated ego or he does not want to fight Devin Haney.

We know the Saudis' money is good because they have been able to make these superfights happen where negotiations had dragged out for years. There is no need to shower Davis with gifts and stroke his ego. He can accept the fight and probably make the most money he's made in his career or he can continue hiding behind Floyd and Al Haymon's protection.
315  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 25, 2024, 03:16:18 AM
In some countries the average salary is less than what you can earn in a signature campaign on Bitcointalk. I imagine fees could be an issue for these people. You could probably find a workaround using Fedimint or something custodial.

In general, it is positive if employers want to pay their workers in Bitcoin. In cases where there are accounting errors we will always have a permanent record on the blockchain to be able to correct mistakes.
316  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful if you using Solflare Solana wallet on: January 24, 2024, 06:57:09 AM
Anytime an address receives funds there are scammers who will automatically send them NFTs to try and lure them to a phishing site where they will be asked to connect their wallet to a malicious smart contract. If you approve the transactions to supposedly claim your airdrop you are actually giving them permission to drain your wallet.

A few weeks ago I created a wallet to do several Polygon transactions and immediately my wallet started receiving these scam NFTs. Some of them are on blockchains I've never used but they have the same address type and have cheap fees so it is easy and inexpensive for people to run these schemes.

I don’t think they will close anytime soon, but you never know offcourse. If you have invested in the premium membership by buying some FUN tokens, than I think your ROI is about 1-2 years. Been a while since I last did some calculations, but if you take everything into account, your ROI is pretty fast.
1-2 years? The interest rate on their investment without premium is 4.08% and with premium is 5.1-ish that means a minimum of 25years or 20years respectively to turn 1BTC to 2BTC. Where are you getting 1-2years from?

Of course I want them to run for longer than that. We should dwell on the negative and keep our vision on the positives. Since the site has a solid business model of brining in money and paying out money, they should sustain long enough for all of us to ROI and profit beyond that.

You are each referring to different investments. Investing in the premium membership by buying tokens, reaching 100% ROI should be much quicker in theory. For me it's been nearly three years and I'm still not breaking even due to FUN token's loss in value.

Investing BTC to earn daily interest, you are already breaking even on day1 because your 1 BTC investment is still worth 1 BTC. To reach 100% ROI, and doubling your BTC it should be sooner than 25 years even if you aren't a premium member, never make any deposits and never earn any sats from other sources like the faucet and WOF. This is because your interest is compounded daily and over time you earn more each day. According to an online compound interest calculator, it should be about 17 years with a 4.08% annual rate and 14 years with a 5.1% rate.

- If real, that will increease bonus of other users, will be used to pay Freebitco's representatives, will be capital gain in order to keep it financially healty and secure or is it troll talk with buzzwords and so?

- How much?

There are costs associated with trying to prevent cheaters from abusing your casino. Confiscating their balance isn't done out of self interest, it is a deterrent to prevent further abuse and also necessary to cover the costs imposed by dishonest users.
319  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is signature payment for free on: January 23, 2024, 05:35:05 AM
If a business is profitable then spending a few thousand dollars a week to advertise is a worthwhile expenditure. Some of the casinos which run campaigns on Bitcointalk already have sponsorship deals with A-list celebrities and influencers. What they spend on this forum is just a drop in the bucket by comparison.

Previously there was mixers advertising here who infamously had North Korea's Lazarus Group amongst their customers. Successful businesses have good reason to advertise on Bitcointalk. They are getting direct exposure to their target demographics as well as backlinks and organic content which is beneficial for search engine optimization.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 23, 2024, 04:50:28 AM
Anthony Joshua is coming off his best win since losing his titles to Andy Ruiz.

Nope, he had 3 losses already, first from Andy Ruiz, then two against Oleksandr Usyk.

You can review his record from https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/659461

He also had several wins since then but they had left some doubt because he lacked confidence and looked fearful. By beating Wallin so one-sided it convinced people that he is still a viable contender who could be competitive against the best heavyweights. That's as close to prime Joshua as we have seen in several years. If he can win impressively against an opponent that Fury struggled with then he will become the most obvious candidate to face whoever becomes undisputed champion next month.
