661  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is there any safe ways out there to get 10-15 % ANY return rate ? on: October 11, 2023, 04:43:16 AM
is there any safe ways out there to get 10-15 % ANY return rate ?

as far as banks i noticed maximum 5 %

crypto exchanges upto 15 %   - but are they safe to put money there ? like nexo , kucoin ?

I've found that these really high APYs can be misleading. On Kucoin you can get really high yields but these investment terms only last for 1 week.  You can get 26.72% APR on Bitcoin but the period is only 7 days so effectively you will only get a 0.5% return on your investment. You might be able to get a guaranteed 15% return but only on altcoins with high emission rates that always get dumped. Having 15% more of a coin that loses 90% of its value is a terrible investment.
662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING]Adrien Broner vs Chris Howard (Welterweight) Nov 4. . on: October 11, 2023, 04:24:26 AM
Chris Howard has only fought once since 2016. Broner isn't going to challenge for a world title any time soon with those kind of opponents. The fact he's ranked in the top 15 with any sanctioning body has more to do with his name recognition than his quality as a fighter. "About Billions" is clearly desperate for money, that's why he had to resort to signing with Don King. We'll see if he actually goes through with this fight or if he ends up using the mental health issues excuse again and pulls out at the last minute.
663  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Preev.com is Down ? on: October 10, 2023, 03:04:11 AM
For a simple website like preev.com, Cloudflare's free plan should be an adequate enough DNS provider. If you don't need a full pro account there are some premium add-ons that are extremely cheap and you can pay as you go. Alternatively, if the admin just doesn't want to put much effort into maintaining the website they could probably sell the domain for a good amount. Anybody wanting to build a website around Bitcoin will get good traffic because it has a very recognizable name.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In Case of Global Conflict, Is BTC The Best Alternative? on: October 10, 2023, 01:45:32 AM
Right now, the world is witnessing another round of big conflict in Middle East particularly Israel after Hamas operatives were able to penetrate the small country and made some havoc moves. In the international theater, we still have the unresolved Ukraine-Russia war and there are those sounding the alarm for the possibility of the China-Taiwan turmoil as well as escalated North-South Korea protracted relations.

Now, in the face of a global chaos, do you think holding on to Bitcoin is a good idea to protect our assets? Will it be acting like gold which can be so valuable during war?

The one thing all these conflicts is that the United States has been stoking the flames in each of them. The US will try to use its hegemony in an attempt to influence the outcomes. Countries that don't want to be at their mercy should consider using Bitcoin as an alternative. There is no reason why countries who aren't directly involved to put their own interests aside and stop transacting with sanctioned countries. Ordinary citizens of Palestine and many other places are unable to get aid that can alleviate their suffering and permissionless money is one of the very few options for supporting humanitarian organizations based in those areas.
665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tszyu vs. Mendoza Confirmed for WBO Title Showdown on October 15th on: October 10, 2023, 01:16:00 AM
Tim Tszyu is the defending champion and will be fighting in his own backyard. Both fighters have a similar level of competition but Tszyu is undefeated. They each have a similar knockout percentage. It looks like an evenly matched fight but Tszyu is the more talented fighter and I expect him to get the win. With Charlo still holding the other three belts, it would be logical to see him face the winner.
666  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is this a scam!! Help on: October 09, 2023, 05:11:13 AM
Almost every online ponzi claims they are involved in forex trading and also claims to based in the UK. The first site you linked checks the box for both those things. The second site lists an address from Texas but they display a photoshopped UK certificate. They also both use generic stock images for their team members and testimonial photos. It couldn't be more obvious these are both scams.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top Crypto Execs Confident SEC Will Approve Spot Bitcoin ETFs on: October 09, 2023, 04:48:17 AM
Those skeptical people might be correct in their skepticism on the news about these top executives' confidence on the approval of the ETF. I shared the news on August 9, however, after 6 days bitcoin bitcoin was being dumped.

There is presently another former top executive that declared his confidence that an approval will be within 3 to 6 months according to the social media accounts of Cointelegraph and Coinsumption. Should be expect another dump? Are these positive ETF news being shared because the whales want exit liquidity?

OPINION: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will register the first spot Bitcoin ETF within three to six months. This opinion was expressed by former managing director of BlackRock, Stephen Schoenfeld.

BREAKING:

Former BlackRock Managing Director, Stephen Schoenfeld, believes the SEC will register the initial spot Bitcoin ETF within the next three to six months.

That's the twitter account for Coingraph, not Cointelegraph. I'm not sure how trustworthy that site is but having a name so confusingly similar as a well known crypto news website seems kind of sketchy.

It's only natural for executives to be optimistic. That's been the general sentiment for a while. There isn't any rational reason to keep denying applications. Whales will always look to take advantage whenever there is a hyped up event happening. Whenever there is disappointing news of course they will dump but they are not necessarily the ones who created the hype for their own selfish reasons.
668  Economy / Gambling / Re: [RESOLVED] Is it possible for duelbit.com to retrieve my wrong deposit ? on: October 09, 2023, 04:22:59 AM
I'm glad you were able to recover your funds. This gesture of goodwill shows why they are a very reputable casino. $2.4k is a substantial amount of money for the average person so it's very considerate of them to fix your error despite not having an obligation to do so. Hhampuz also deserves credit for coming to your aid. This was a very valuable lesson to learn about always being careful when sending funds and always keep in mind that transactions are irreversible when confirmed on the blockchain.
669  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we truly need cbdc when bitcoin already exist? on: October 08, 2023, 04:31:49 PM
With how extensive surveillance already is over people's financial activity, CBDCs really are not even needed. CBDCs are controversial so it is unlikely that we will see them anytime soon. However, in order to maintain control governments will resort to enacting stricter regulations around financial services. Just look at how rare non-KYC crypto exchanges are becoming. Bitcoin was meant to provide better privacy and control when compared to fiat but transacting with it through centralized intermediaries often requires providing an extensive amount of personal information. This information can be used to keep track of you in order to restrict how you are allowed to use your own money.
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 08, 2023, 03:59:02 PM
I've only ever heard of Craig Wright and Paul Le Roux.

With Craig Wright it is obvious he is hoping to make some money. He has filed for dozens of patents with the US Patent and Trademark Office. If you look up the patents they are all pretty vague and based on other people's inventions. I don't know what his endgame is but perhaps by he hopes that by getting some patents approved he can later sue developers for stealing his ideas and gain control over Bitcoin.

I'm not sure Paul Le Roux ever openly claimed to be Satoshi. It just seems to be a wild conspiracy theory. A criminal mastermind being the creator of Bitcoin gets a lot of clicks. There's just enough circumstantial evidence to make it kind of believable. Some of the people that vouched for him being Satoshi, like Martin Shkreli, don't seem like the most reliable sources.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin millionaire: Lucky or possesses more qualities that we don't have. on: October 08, 2023, 04:00:34 AM
Luck has a lot to do with why many early bitcoiners became millionaires. There are many great ideas which don't receive enough support to make its early adopters wealthy. Many bitcoin millionaires went on to support stupid things. Roger Ver was involved with Craig Wright. SBF scammed countless people and had a really negative impact on all of crypto. Just because you got rich through Bitcoin doesn't mean that you have some special knowledge that makes you better than later adopters who aren't rich. In many cases it was just a risky gamble that paid off.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 08, 2023, 03:25:45 AM
Man, they were both running on fumes by the end, but Leigh Wood landed that killer shot that had Warrington on shaky legs. And he couldn't catch a break from the bell! Talk about an entertaining brawl, the crowd was totally hyped.

Honestly, I've been missing this kind of action. I mean, I caught the highlights you shared, and it was a blast to watch.

So what's next for Leigh Wood?

Wood had another impressive come from behind knockout victory. For Warrington it must be frustrating to keep coming up short.

BoxRec's top 10 ratings shows that featherweight is a stacked division. Matching any of these fighters together would make for a compelling fight. There is also Naoya Inoue just one division below. If he becomes undisputed he could move up and find a worthy opponent.

In other boxing action Zurdo Ramirez won a wide decision in his cruiserweight debut against former champion Joe Smith Jr. Cruiserweight is among the worst divisions in boxing so Zurdo shouldn't have much trouble becoming world champion.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mastering Bitcoin Security: Tips, Tools, and Best Practices on: October 08, 2023, 01:43:33 AM
Apart from the fact that MetaMask is an altcoin wallet not a "shield"; technically you should keep your bitcoin offline so that getting your online system infected wouldn't affect them. And if you want protection install uBlock Origin and a decent Anti Virus on your system that has net protection.

I know a lot of people here dislike Ethereum, MetaMask does have a feature of potentially showing a warning if the user opens a phishing site, which I don't think uBlock Origin has that feature.

There's this one plugin that's made exclusively for blocking phishing sites though, so it should be a better pick than MetaMask. I forgot the name of the plugin.

Most browsers already have built in phishing protection.  uBlock Origin also offers additional protection against this. The default lists are already good enough for most people but if someone really wants to use Metamask's domain filter it can be imported into uBO by going into the dashboard and pasting the URL to the hosts.txt file from their GitHub. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MetaMask/eth-phishing-detect/main/src/hosts.txt

675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 07, 2023, 06:10:08 AM
I believe announcing the Fury-Usyk fight in Saudi adds more hype to this fight. If they want more hype, Bob Arum should've tried to put a Mexican or a Latino in the undercard to cater to their huge boxing community.

The Saudis don't have much experience in promoting major boxing events. They are more familiar with entertainment. This fight is being marketed more for a casual audience than die hard boxing fans. That's why they made it part of the Riyadh Season festival. The card might not be the most appealing but people will still watch it for the same reasons they watch Jake Paul fights.
676  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 07, 2023, 05:44:25 AM
A mentor is not really necessary. Information is easily available through many sources. You can learn a lot from reading newsletters, visiting forums or watching YouTube videos. There are many diverse ideas within the Bitcoin community. Someone who is trusted by many people is Andreas Antonopoulos. He is a great educator but you don't want to rely on a single person's advice. There are many complex and sometimes even controversial issues which you will need to form your opinions independently.
677  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: October 06, 2023, 06:24:25 AM
I was wondering if all these reports of Twitter losing users and being a total failure thanks to Musk might be exaggerated but I looked at the numbers on SimilarWeb, which is a pretty reliable source of website traffic, and it does indeed show a sharp drop. Some of it might be bot traffic but if Musk was doing such a great job you would see an increase in genuine users and the drop off wouldn't be so dramatic.

As someone who uses twitter every single day for work, I have to say it is getting even worse nowadays. I keep tab on whats going on in the crypto world and the amount of irrelevant posts I see on the home page grows bigger and bigger. In fact, I am sure that irrelevant posts are a lot more than relevant ones. You can always go pick "following" if you want to, but that only limits to who you follow and what they posted, "for you" should be regarding what I am interested in, and as a person who has over a thousand people I follow, its obvious that all of them are crypto and I should be seeing more finance and crypto related stuff, not some highlights of a football game, certainly not a small one neither, I get that if its like world cup finals then yeah show it to everyone, but why am I seeing bottom table serie A game goal highlights. Its getting more and more broken every single day.

The For You feed is awful and the Following feed only sorts tweets in chronological order so if you follow lots of people you will miss out on important tweets if you don't scroll down far enough. The reason why there are so many irrelevant posts showing up in people's feeds is because they are trying to disguise ads as organic posts. Even while using an ad blocker and using the web version I started seeing posts for electric vehicles even though I have no interest in them whatsoever. Unlabeled ads go against FTC regulation so we will see if they decide to take action.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When are we going to see the mempool empty again and 1sat/b confirmations? on: October 06, 2023, 04:36:27 AM
I've had a pending 1 sat/vByte transaction for several months. After the Ordinals and BRC-20 spam started clearing I was hoping it would receive confirmation over the weekend. The most recent difficulty adjustment was a few days ago but less transactions volume has led to declining hashrate and as a result the average block time has gone up slightly so it might still take a while to fully clear the mempool.
679  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 06, 2023, 03:17:11 AM
20% APR is very good for Bitcoin trading. Over the past year Bitcoin is up 35% so these returns are certainly realistic. Bitcoin isn't as volatile as it was in its early years. It is possible to have many months of sideways price action and it can take a long time to recover from bear markets. If you were buying Bitcoin leading up to its all time high your strategy might have failed and you would have negative returns right now.
680  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: October 05, 2023, 07:25:34 AM
Twitter or X is as active as never before. I don't think Elon Musk can fck it up that hard that people start seriously switching to another platform. Even if they gonna implement a subscription model, most people will just pay.

YouTube has more of a monopoly than Twitter and has taken aggressive measures to try and force people into subscribing to YouTube Premium and yet only about 3% of users have actually subscribed.

We don't know exactly who owns that account, but I think if Elon is really a fan of bitcoin then he should delete that account because it will cause a lot of misunderstanding in the bitcoin community. I also saw this news and people are discussing this issue a lot, there is even a topic discussing this fake account on our forum. What's more worth mentioning is that this fake account even bought Twitter's blue checkmark, which will make many people easily mistake this as really the real Satoshi.

When Jack Dorsey was running Twitter they did suspend the @Satoshi account soon after it was suspected that Craig Wright had taken over. With Musk reversing all the previous suspensions it has given scammers an opportunity to spread disinformation. They have already set a precedent of suspending parody accounts and this isn’t any different. If Craig can’t prove he’s Satoshi, the account is in violation of rules regarding impersonation and should be suspended.
