- Addresses will start with "j"
Please post the version I'm too lazy to check it
Version 105

Just show a warning before sending the coins that the address seems to be a Bitcoin one and it's ok, you don't need to refuse Bitcoin addresses
I'm refusing to send coins to addresses that are not in i0coin range (currently limited only to version 105 on mainnet and 111 on testnet). After my patch, i tried bitcoin, namecoin and ixcoin address and of course all of them was rejected, and just to be sure i tested a i0coin address and the money went sucessfully Smiley

Are you planning to post an official announcement on this forum with links and info?

This literally happens all the time, and it's no big deal. In fact, there's a guide for recovering from this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=32159.0

DoubleC recovers coins sent to him all the time. Just email him the full details (account name, address, amount).

thanks for the help

omg calm down and contact DoubleC who operates the ixcoin exchange and namecoin exchange. He should be able to help you.

sorry if I think it is fucked dude. the BTC client DOES NOT DO THIS, not sure how to make that more clear to you. It is still a flaw, that people need to be made aware of, Sorry if you want to keep people in the dark. This also isnt a game, where I got my sword stuck in a door, this is money dude.

If you did not notice I tried to help you by pointing you to DoubleC, you inconsiderate donkey!

No I appreciate it and got my coin back and appreciate the help even if i hadnt. I just think it is something worthy of getting upset about. It isnt a game.

Well please show me where I made it sound like a game or implied it was a game. I was only trying to be supportive.

I guess that shows how people doing nice things on these boards can end up in getting slapped in the face.
17563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin (or IBcoin) on: August 14, 2011, 09:27:37 AM
please adjust the difficulty if it hasn't changed for 1 month
Done, i modified the code to auto retarget (change difficulty) if two weeks OR 2016 blocks has passed. Smiley

Let me do some more tests, i'll release the client & commit the source soon  Cheesy

Edit:

anyways please avoid that pitfall. We have enough to worry about with rogue online wallet opperators and trojans trying to steal our stuff and everyone trying to scam you out of bitcoins, we shouldnt have to worry the app my transform a typo into a valid address rather than informing you that you had a typo.
Sure, i'll look in that Smiley

Edit2:
When I release the client, the blockchain will have 0 blocks, don't worry Smiley

Also please put an announcement out stating the start date a bit in advance so those wanting to mine can do it in a fair manner. Thanks for your efforts!!

I do not know what all the fuss is about. We have encouraged everyone to fork bitcoin, so finally someone done it. Great! Some miners have decided to waste some gigahashes on it. This is even better! More bitcoin left for me to mine.

People do need a demonstration of the network effect and bitcoin's first mover advantage. Let's see... pass the popcorn.

I don't see how it is wasting hashes for people like me.

I have sold over 250BTC worth of IXC at the Bitparking exchange. All generated in the past four days.

Right now IXC is in a rally and it is still 2 times more profitable to mine IXC than BTC.

I am in this for pure short term profit and nothing else.

I could care less about the "future" of BTC, NMC or IXC  (there is none)

So it all really depends on your perspective if it is wasting hashes.

Short term profiteer - Not a waste

Long Term BTC Kool Aid Drinker - Possible waste

I've also sold about the same BTC worth of Ixcoins but the difference is that I only had 4 GH/s to mine at difficulty 16 and 64 etc. You may have sold a bit early lad.

But oh well!

Still have a very healthy reserve  Grin

He he he good job man! I hope more of these forks come out so I can rape the difficulty. =)

it's called "late-to-the-party-envy syndrome"

 Tongue Tongue

and here i am, laughing all the way to the bank.
scam or not, i made some $.

Yep, that is me.  I am completely amazed that people would buy these things.  However, I want to try another Bitcoin-clone.  We have it set so that blocks are mined once every 2 minutes and are worth 2 coins.  Also no limit on the maximum coins!  Naturally I want to try out other ideas but that would take too much work.

If anyone does this let me know.  I'll join.  Otherwise I'll just have to go and make a derivation myself.

If I knew how to code I'd do it myself too. I think it would be a good idea to have many flavors out there and let the market's natural selection mechanisms work on them. Eventually the superior one shall survive.

This is where i agree and would be willing to contribute to a concerted effort.

Honestly I am totally surprised this hasn't happened already. A while back I read a bunch of threads about "inflatcoin" and other such ideas for modifying bitcoin. Why haven't these people forked bitcoin already to have their ideas implemented. Maybe some of these ideas are not so easy to code. What ixcoin did is totally silly easy to code - just change the name and the block reward.

At the very worst it was a good experiment to see how a new blockchain might act with early adopters. It was actually interesting to see my ixcoin client ring in 96 Ixcoins every minute or so for like 3 hours straight.
17568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IxCoin is a SCAM on: August 13, 2011, 08:22:51 PM
I wonder if Vladimir put his billion trillion gazzilion hashes into the ixcoin network yet. If he got into it early like BitcoinExpress he would be a ixcoin billionaire so freaking easily - he'd then have to change his profile tag line Smiley lol

Wait until they reach 0.50 btc then sell...profit!

Naw he probably didnt get in early enough.

When difficulty was 16 there was maybe 40 GH/s on it until it turned to 256 difficulty or so.

Who is buying Ixcoins and why?

Speculators. They think/hope that ixcoin will skyrocket in value like bitcoin did and they do not wish to be left out of the price bubble party. That's all there is to it - at least for the time being.

Correct!

Ixcoin is almost a big a scam as Bitcoin.  At least people don't actually lose real money with Ixcoin.  It's just a matter of time before the governments of the world crack down on these sham "currencies".

Don't you worry, people will lose "real" money with ixcoins too..soon. Just you wait now.

That would make you feel better yeah given that you were too dumb to secure your bitcoin wallet and lost a bunch of bitcoins yourself yeah?

All I was saying is that sooner or later people will buy ixcoins with REAL money instead of bitcoins and some will lose just like as with bitcoins. But I guess you were too dumb to read between the lines and discern what I was saying.

Haha you sound like you're trying to cover up being majorly butt-hurt haha.

OWNED! LOL

Nah, no hurt feelings bro. It sounds like you're not even trying to cover up how much a prick you are. Now where the other members of the asshole brigade - TraderTimm I'm looking at you Smiley

Honestly if I had to say one negative thing about bitcoin, it would be that its community has an unusually high concentration of conspiratorial, selfish, greedy, rude, arrogant, and disrespectful fucks.

You forgot incompetent bitcoin holders. LOL

I find it interesting that if you search the term 'ixcoin' on this forum it finds not matching results yet an hour ago it worked fine and found lots of results?

It is call "forum censorship". The bitcoin early adopters don't like ixcoin for the most part because it is a competing block chain.

A good "product" doesn't fear competition... Maybe they know, BTC is not as good as they make us think? ;-)

Then that would explain moving ALL ixcoin posts on the main forum to here? And not namecoin's?

I'm not suggesting fiat currencies are better, just that contributions to the main block chain are better for peer-to-peer currency than constant attempts to reboot it.

I don't know how we can stop it though. I still want to start another one at some point.

Please start one and let me know I'll help you mine.

@fcmatt

I openly admit I have zero faith in Bitcoin, Namecoin or Ixcoin.

Honestly I careless about the "long term" uses of it.

I am in this 100% for the pure profit and nothing else. I have never and will never buy a single thing with any digital currency.

I was just fortunate enough to have at my disposal 10 gigs of GPU power to use at no cost in electricity or hardware in mid 2010. For what ever reason my wife's company ordered 50 machines from a local computer shop all with HD 5770's. No reason at all, I just guess they wanted to spend the money.

Long story short, I was the part time admin and had total control of the machines from 6PM-7AM M-F and 24/day on the weekends. Needless to say I racked up a serious amount of coins and sold about half of them during the height in June. I was able to purchasse and build a 40GH/s farm of my own and hit Ixcoin at a difficulty of 16 full force.

I'm not a fool, I am a profiteer without shame!

Peace.

1) Mine IXC
2) Sell and make 10x profit
3) Make a thread letting everyone know...
4) Huh
5) profit? lulz

3) Make a thread letting everyone know what a massive d-bag you are...

The creator of scamcoin has a lot to gain by risking $2500us to put up massive buy orders inflating the apparent values of his filthy coins. Haven't you idiots heard of a long con?

I've heard of a stop-whining-coin  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I am not whining. I am voicing my utter astonishment that people are complicit and this asshole's scam and aren't even ashamed of it.

BitcoinEXpress is the worst of them, hyping it in every running thread and creating new threads to hype it some more.

Someone will be left holding the bag. He should be ashamed of himself.

Sounds like whining to me.

Seems like you're being a dick for no reason.
