I still havnt claimed any clams.
Better start reading up on importing wallet

Very easy to do.  Remember, you had to have bitcoin (or a couple of alts) from a long time ago.

"Every person who had Bitcoin at block 300,377, Litecoin at block 565,693, or Dogecoin at block 218,556 was given ~4.6 CLAM."
(Should be corrected to say.... 'Every address'....)
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: May 16, 2018, 08:09:22 PM
Just to give an update.  I woke up this morning and noticed the bootstrap was renamed to bootstrap.dat.old ; however, it was no where close to being done.  I did not see the client running nor CPU usage.  I closed the client and restarted it.  It imediately started downloading.  So, I closed it again.

I renamed bootstrap.dat.old to bootstrap.dat and restarted the client.   So, it took a while before the client (internally, but visible in the debug.log) to catch up to the last block it has imported to the blk0001 file and continued on.

Now, just got back from lunch and found that it had finally moved on to blk0002.

Yours....

blk0001- 1,95 GB (2 097 155 946 bytes
blk0002- 195 MB (204 685 437 bytes)
bootstrap.dat.old - 2,38 GB (2 565 076 446 )

Mine....
blk0001.dat - 1.95 GB (2,097,155,946 bytes)
CRC32: EDF37145
MD5: D9F206FF08650A0CF5F8DC71735A388D
SHA-1: 9897F16A8E6AC09DD0AF41C66A2E2897482399A1
SHA-256: 510D0CABB4208D9A545A0E05FAB2C0C29C225D699E0601A16B2891FACBD2CE98

So, the file sizes match.

Question is why my client stopped importing blocks in the middle which appears to have happened to you.  Space and Ram is not an issue and running on SSD.
Maybe try to rename bootstrap.dat.old to bootstrap.dat again and restart the client again.  (Take note that it takes time internally (although visable in the log) for it to quickly go through all the blocks is already has imported.)

123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: May 16, 2018, 06:41:30 AM
regarding file size
I see -size 1,95 GB (2 097 155 946 bytes) and size on disk 1,95 GB (2 097 156 096 bytes)

What does the first size refer to, if not size on disk? Where else does the file exist other than "on disk"? I guess the "on disk" figure could be rounded up to the next 4k boundary or something (it's a multiple of 4096).

I've no idea why the import isn't working for you. I've not heard of anyone else having that problem. I hope the bootstrap.dat file isn't corrupted. Did anyone else try using it recently? If so, how did it go?

He means that in Windows, when you right click a file, it shows both.

Like....

File should be:
Quote
CRC32: A09CCD73
MD5: E6F9D182A072ABD9E63E9547B1197A3B
SHA-1: 9DBF6DE14B518094523E0E7DCD78B3358385775E
SHA-256: 713B93B7458E88500F1E32557F0BC58B9F05A6B13E1DE31576F25F5300184C96

Takes under an hour to download.

Client is importing blocks now.  Will be done by morning.
On my laptop, it's at 30% after 3 hours.

Nite.

I did it twice adding new downloaded bootstrap, but always ends with same result. And importing of files switched to sync when the sum of the sizes of the blk* files reach ~2GB( bootstrap.dat.old have 2.37)

Yesterday I download newest bootstrap 2,38 GB (2 565 076 446 ) after adding in clam directory and launch client, importing blocks lasted few minute, than again switched to sync, although I am still  in 26th January.

blk0001- 1,95 GB (2 097 155 946 bytes
blk0002- 195 MB (204 685 437 bytes)
bootstrap.dat.old - 2,38 GB (2 565 076 446 )

I'll bite.
Did you check the checksum? Seems that is a step being ignored, or I missed your response.

Quote
To verify that you have the right file:

Quote
$ sha256sum bootstrap.dat
713b93b7458e88500f1e32557f0bc58b9f05a6b13e1de31576f25f5300184c96  bootstrap.dat

and/or force your torrent client to check it.

Note:  Your blk1 and blk2 should att up to the bootstrap file which is 2.38.   It doesn't.   So, either your bootstrap is corrupt, or your blk files are corrupt if if you now have a corrected (redownloaded bootstrap file).

Step 1 - confirm the checksum is correct on the bootstrap.
Step 2 - if you pass step 1, then delete the two blk files and let it rerun on the blk files.

PS.  Pay attention to the file sizes.  A confirmed one is:  2097152626  whereas yours is: 2097155946

Yeah and it seems faster than previous client that I have but for me It is not that fast it takes time for importing files ? Can you tell me estimation days ?

I seem to remember that the import goes slower at the start (because the block hash was using a slow algorithm (maybe scrypt?) for the first 203500 blocks). So it should speed up once you get past those early blocks. The faster blocks started on Tue Nov 11 2014.

Could also be using a mechanic drive (slow hard drive vs SSD), etc.   Glad it's a lot faster though that before.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMS, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Pearl, Recent Mandatory Update on: May 14, 2018, 04:49:04 PM

Oh God It is now working I guess since I am able to see like  ( "IMPORTING BLOCKS")  . I am so thankful to you and people who helped me with this . My first time to do staking thanks for explaining it .

Nice!    All good.   Hopefully your download is good and everything works out.  Smiley
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMS, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Pearl, Recent Mandatory Update on: May 14, 2018, 03:30:24 PM

Boss I am already at 352172 block and it says " 3 years and 11 weeks behind " What bootstrap I need to do ? To make sync fast . Please help Boss .

Enzo,
The OP (first post) has a link to Dooglus post on Bootstrap.
Read it here...   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.msg9772191#msg9772191

Thanks. That's what I would have said if I was here to reply.

Thanks I am now downloading it . I hope this run smooth and works fine because I really want to do staking with clams .

Edit : I already download it but is this correct ? I paste the bootstrap here and restart client ?

(deleted directory image to save space)

I also didn't see this : "  If you are using the QT client, it will say "importing blocks" in the lower left corner while the bootstrap.dat file is imported. That is how you can tell that the file is being used. "

Please help me !

No....
"Download it, put it into the same folder as your CLAM wallet.dat, then restart the client."

That image is of your executable folder.  Your wallet.dat file is in:
C:\Users\(youruserdirectory)\AppData\Roaming\Clam
or
%appdata%/clam

(For the above, I am assuming you are using defaults since you don't know where your wallet.dat file is.)

semuxpool_com and semuxpool_com2 pools are back up and running!  Fees are now down to 5% for a few weeks.  Let's get them back running.  Just 0.1SEM min payout, so all votes welcome.

sorry for any inconvenience!  Was on vaca and had power loss.  Moved payout script to better hosting.

It is a good trend to reduce pool fees. For shure others big pools will reduced it also. Nice for ordinary users )

I would disagree.

A pool requires a 1000 SEM burn to start.

So, a new pool (assuming it could even get started because of the 48,000 required votes) will only, at a 10% fee only, get 8.6 SEM daily.

This means, a 10% fee pool will take four (4) months just to recover the burn fee and that doesn't include the cost of the server/bandwidth.  That would require about an additional 2 weeks.  And the marketting, etc.

Someone with 1000 SEM would be better off simply voting on a current pool than to start one.

semuxpool 1 and 2 at 5% means it would take over 8 months.   Quite simply, it isn't worth running a pool at 5% or even 10%.   I do not believe pools will lower their fees unless they are currently underwater and need the votes they can't supply themselves to keep them up.

You may believe or not. I am in a pool with 5% fees a few months already. Payments are regular!

I'm not sure your payments on voting in on a pool has anything to do what I said.

But, to respond to what you wrote..... lowest fee pool doesn't mean best profit.

http://pool.7u.org clearly shows that the lowest fee pool at 0% (100_tokenpar_com) is clearly the least (absolute bottom of the list) profitable ( 0.847 SEM per day per 1000 voted in) while the highest fee pool at 25% makes you nearly 150% more SEM daily.   Currently, the highest profit you make is voting in on pool 'sofia' which will pay you 1.614 SEM daily on the same number of votes even though it's fee is 8%.

Appears you downloaded an older bootstrap.
Seems, from the post, that the file is now up to:  Sat May 12 01:37:52 UTC 2018

In any case, you're almost done.

I thought so too, but I downloaded it after this dooglus post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.msg36115160#msg36115160
and reaped it after week again, but no change, also file same size as mentioned dooglus.
With such sync speed I need yet months to be done Smiley

So, it's taking you a week in syncing from the bootstrap file which was only 2 weeks ago?
Yes, you definately have a problem.

BUT... you said you see the file is the same size.  This doesn't mean anything if the file is corrupt.  A corrupt file is a corrupt file no matter how big/small the file is.
Did you check the checksum / the current file is:

Quote

Quote
$ sha256sum bootstrap.dat
713b93b7458e88500f1e32557f0bc58b9f05a6b13e1de31576f25f5300184c96  bootstrap.dat

and/or force your torrent client to check it.

How much coins min is needed for staking?

There really is no minimum.   Well, to place a vote, you pay .005 SEM to vote or unvote.   So, you could have less then a $.01 worth.   Of course you will not make any money if you're only voting with a penny.  Smiley

Also, your profit depends on the pool you're voting on.

The list at pool.7u.org is a sorted list with the currently most profitable pool at the top which is updated at every block (30 seconds).

So, voting on the pool at the top of the list will currently earn you the most SEM daily.

Is there any deadline for claiming the airdrop for ETH holders? Because I do not have access to Myetherwallet right now in my holiday for signing the message. And will there be more holder drops in the future?

The snapshot was on April 1st.
The airdrop has been going on for a while now and still going.

Maybe more drops in the future of holders of other coins, but it I find it unlikely to re-drop.  Anything is possible.

I'm interested in this information as well, please post a time frame to claim SEM airdrop. Also I remember dev mentioned problems with MEW signature, are these issues solved? I have few wallets that qualify for the airdrop, just want to be sure MEW signing will work for me!

I claimed with MEW.   Why not try it?

any solution why wallet not imported  full bootstrap?

Did the bootstrap.dat file get renamed to bootstrap.dat.old? That's what happens when the client has finished importing blocks from it.

Yes, it's already renamed and wallet starts synchronizing with network, although still in Nov. 2017(now, after  week of sync reached 12 Jan.2018)

Basically, dooglus is trying to determine if the wallet thinks it imported the full bootstrap.

I had this problem before.  Tried to sync several times.  It turns out the torrent download I had was corrupt.  After forcing utorrent to recheck, it repaired the file by redownloading the bad part.  It ran smooth after that.  I suggest you checksum the bootstrap file (as it would have saved me a couple of days of hassle).

I was expecting more people to sign up for eth bounty.

Besides, i am shocked that people signed with million dollars worth of eth just for 500 sems.

Maybe in 8 years, people will be shocked that they didn't sign up to get even 1 SEM.

If you're looking on where to VOTE with your SEM in order to earn more, then take a look at:

http://pool.7u.org

It's sorted from the highest publicly known paying pool to the least.

Notice that a pool charging the lowest fee doesn't mean the best paying.

Is it safe to post it somewhere?
(Sorry for noob question...)

Yes, but YOU don't need to post it on the forum.  mdodong was simply giving out instructions on how to do it.

anybody knows a way of acumulating more SEM ? i have just a few hunderd on the original wallet, participated in the btc and eth airdrop and thats it

You could buy it OTC.
or
You could vote in public pools and earn more SEM from your votes daily.

139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread - Airdrop to ETH holders now 🚀 🚀 🚀 on: April 18, 2018, 04:01:05 PM
SEMUX this coin is not available on any stock exchange. It is difficult to give it an accurate price. I only know that nodes can vote for benefits.

To judge whether the Semux project has a future, we need to know the technology of this coin, who can understand it more, and if I can, I'll get some coins to do the node.

In Semux, you're just a person.  If you have SEM, then you can vote.  You get 1 vote per SEM you own.

To become a Deligate, you have to burn (destroy) 1000 SEM

The top 100 Deligates are validators.  This is based on the number of votes each has.

Basically, if you want to become a validator, you need to burn 1000 SEM, and you need to have (currently) about 44,000 votes total from you and friends, etc).

Every 30 minutes, a deligate (at random) is chosen to forge a block.  If they get it, the reward is 3 SEM + tx fees.

A validator get just under 29 blocks a day. @ 3 sem, that's close to 87 daily.   Since they are currently just over $1 each, that's about $100 a day per validator.

Now, since most people are not willing to put in $50k to start a validator, they likleyl get together in groups to start one.  They create pools (public and private)
Private pools is great cause you know exactly what you're going to get if you keep up with it.
Public is better in that it brings a lot of people with smaller amounts so more people get involved and everyone makes something.

Is Melvin your pool?

No, it is not mine.  I do have votes in it though.

Quote
what way do you figure out the best pool.

your votes / pool votes * sem_per_day - pool_fee = profit
remember, if you haven't voted yet, so to figure out what you would make (assuming no votes are made or unvoted from the pool during that time)...
your votes / (pool votes+yourvotes) * sem_per_day - pool_fee = profit

sem_per_day is an average number.  This is 86.4SEM  ----   2880 blocks per day / 100 validators = 28.8 blocks * reward (3 sem) = 86.4

Quote

do you a list of pools but pay betters?

I suggest you setup a spreadsheet in order to calculate returns on votes based on pools fees and the number of votes they have.  I know someone working a live version.
Consider also that public pools don't (by default) count your votes for the first 200 blocks (100 minutes) in order to prevent pool hoppers.

The pools I know of right now are:

Sofia 8% (not officially public, so rate could change, but it is paying.)
Richkid 10% (not officially public, so rate could change, but it is paying.)
Kolten 10% (public)
Melvin 15% (public)
Wilson 15% (not officially public, yada)

Also, you can find others that are setup as public pools that are not listed by voting for random pools to see if you get paid.  (Warning... you could miss out on profits during this time AND pools might be paying pools, but if you quit within the 24 hours, you're likely to miss paying pools which are setup to not pay out to quitters.)

You should try to mddong pool, that a decent one. I waiting on the weekend to calculate my profit. Voted ~ 500 coin and received ~ 1 per day.

I don't see how you get that....
500/64750*86.4-15% = 0.5671042471042471 SEM (Mdd) Per day based on your voting.
500/53650*86.4-15% = 0.6844361602982293 SEM (mdd2)
The mddong pools are 15%

They have 64750 and 53650 votes respectively.
So, based on the same example I layed out in my prior two posts (having 10,000 votes).....

10000/74750 = 0.1337792642140468 * 86.4 = 11.55852842809364 - 15% = 9.824749163879594 sem mddsemuxpool
10000/63650 = 0.1571091908876669 * 86.4 = 13.57423409269442 - 15% = 11.53809897879026 sem mddsemuxpool2
10000/53000 = 0.1886792452830189 * 86.4 = 16.30188679245283 - 15% = 13.85660377358491 sem melvin

Based on the above, the pool Melvin still pays more.
This is only based on the numbers at this moment.

That said....
10000/53500 = 0.1869158878504673 * 86.4 = 16.14953271028037 - 8% = 14.85757009345794 sem sofia

So, sofia pays the most that I know of, but isn't advertised as being a public pool even though it is.
