1321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FreiCoin (FRC) discussion (was FreiCoin (FRC) for TRC, PPC, LTC or BTC) on: January 25, 2013, 04:54:52 AM

So essentially there isn't enough hashing power on the network to make things suitably quick?

My client is reporting 15677 blocks complete, and the last was generated 13 hours ago. Normally it takes but a few seconds to sync up.

Hoping the freicoin network is intact.

Edit - Decided to push some hashing power to the network for the evening. Lets hope someone gets the next block.

The network is still fine. For one, it's the exact same as bitcoin.

We haven't monkeyed with the proven parameters that make Bitcoin work, not even the targeted inter-block time.

As you can see at cryptocoinexplorer.com, the current block is 15677. http://cryptocoinexplorer.com:4750/chain/Freicoin

What ports this use for solo mining on ? is it same as client using 8639?

SOLO MINING INSTRUCTIONS

1) Download freicoin (http://freico.in) and cgminer (http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer)
2) Run freicoin with these flags freicoin-qt.exe -rpcuser=USERNAME -rpcpassword=PASSWORD
3) Run cgminer with these flags cgminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:8332 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD
1323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 23, 2013, 12:37:50 AM
My speculation:

The product is obviously modular.

There is a mainboard with some control electronics (microcontroller and the openwrt processor) The daughterboards (with asics) are vertically oriented for maximum airflow by the cards.

 I I I I I       < daughterboards
---------    < mainboard

Also, I meant to post this when it was obvious Avalon came first. Way to go, Avalon.

Does this come with a port to pump liquid nitrogen inside the case to keep it from melting?

Huh? They've been quoting 400 watts. Who has trouble cooling a 4U case pulling 400 watts?

What is the temperature of the room that this would need to be in?  If you had 50 of them in a room would they be able to cool themselves with just the fans?  You would need at least 10 Tons of cooling and exhaust for the heat.

So 20KW for the units and 20KW for the AC and exhaust.  Not too bad for 3TH+

Huh

Wow, thermodynamics.....is not your strong suit.

bo2573 is a BFL whale (medical doctor, not dumb). No doubt what he's posting here is the insider information frantically provided to him to explain why he chose poorly.

The most inconvenient question you can find here:
http://29a.ch/sandbox/2012/imageerrorlevelanalysis/  - Drag & Drop  Avalon's image onto this page.
How does it work? :
http://29a.ch/2012/4/15/image-error-level-analysis-with-html5
Conclusion?
- This photo was manipulated
Why ?
- who knows...

Having that said the algorithm is not exactly reliable, especially with images that have been rescaled and compressed often/intensely. So take it with a pinch of salt and feel free to have a look at the simple source code.

Resizing an image will cause this tool to report "errors."
1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Selling Logitech G25 + Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) for 30,000 FRC on: January 21, 2013, 02:57:34 AM
I have a Logitech G25 and the PS3 game Gran Turismo 5 that I will sell for 30,000 Freicoin. This price includes shipping (to the continental US).

If you have a PS3, are mining Freicoin, and have ever thought about Sim Racing this would be an incredibly cheap way to get started.

The wheel should work just by plugging it into a PS3. It has a USB interface and works with PS3 and PC. It doesn't work with XBOX, for reasons I don't understand. I primarily used it for PC games (GTR2) and it works great.

Please post here or PM me with offers or questions.

Thanks, all!

Wow, thats a quite a big number of units.  Grin I hope this gamble pays off well for you.

1332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FRC exchange! on: January 17, 2013, 11:48:54 PM
CryptoCoin Exchange was going to have Freicoin added today but they have hit another bug which is going to put his back. Let's hope maaku can fix this one quick.

This has been fixed. Smiley maaku is the best. (sipa is good too, for fixing this in bitcoin. my favorite bitcoin developer.  we all benefit by having sipa work on bitcoin Smiley)

I value my "Free coins" too much to just give them away. Do you have anything to trade for them?
1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next Freicoin Difficulty on: January 17, 2013, 02:42:09 AM
It seems that the network has slowed down some more. There are about 60 blocks being found a day at the moment. Looking at Coinotron over the last 19 blocks they have found 1 in 4.47 blocks meaning that Coinotron is finding 22% of blocks. As Coinotron over the last 24 hours has had 9GH on FRC we can speculate that the total current hashpower for FRC is currently around 40GH hopefully putting the difficulty even lower for the next change.

That's very surprising to read Coinotron only gets 1/5 blocks.

The p2pool is has a decent hashrate.

1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I want Free coins to buy free games plz on: January 17, 2013, 02:41:14 AM
BTW you can now deposit Freicoin onto the mugen's exchange. No trading yet. mugen is still working on the implementation, but some are getting closer. Smiley

Get some with Free mining  Cool

He needs a bigger rig. Coinotron only gets 1/5 of all the FRC blocks.  Grin

Lol, sorry then, but it would be funny, wouldnt it?

It would be funny.

It's highly unlikely we would get in trouble, but it's the responsible thing to remind people to not get too excited about new experimental cryptocurrencies.

correction: dying

It's still worth more than PPCoin, speaking strictly from a utility standpoint Wink

I know this is a joke, but I want to be clear. Nowhere on the Freicoin website is any projection of the future value of Freicoin. Freicoin is an experimental cryptocurrency with no value. The only way you can obtain Freicoin is by "mining" it, or by buying it directly from a miner. No automated exchanges exist and any value attributed to Freicoin is derived from personal speculation.

shhhhh

We could get in trouble for this! Shocked
1340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FRC exchange! on: January 17, 2013, 01:33:18 AM
selling frc, 0.1644 btc/frc

Explanation for my price is:
On their site it mentions that in 10 years 1 frc may have $100 value
So, it gains 10$ (hypothetically) every year. Its life till now is 2-3 months

So we get to:
(100$/10years)/12months = 0,83$ gained value for each passed month * 3 months current life = 2.49 $ per frc
-5% today's value as per their explanation = 2.3655 $ per frc

2.36$ == 0.1644BTC @ current rate  Cool
