6181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Payment Processors on: July 26, 2018, 11:33:58 AM
A lot of them are done to use freely. (ie: WordPress plugins) It is somehow a good sign as it shows how the adoption is growing and how people get involved in. If it wasn't the case people would blame Bitcoin for not to be user-friendly or lack of solutions to be used.
What about the payment processors online to accept fiat currencies? There are literally thousands existing. The same question could be asked too, do we need as much? There is a demand and so a market.

Edit: I searched and in this list, there are about 80, and not all are listed, like Payza, Perfect Money, Payoneer, Payeer and so on
6182  Economy / Economics / Re: Major Cryptocurrency Investors Are Betting Heavily Against Ethereum on: July 26, 2018, 10:36:18 AM
ECR20 tokens helped Ethereum a lot! Perhaps without this ETH wouldn't be in the top 2 on coinmarketcap. I know there is Plasma to help with the scalability issue but the problem is nobody is aware of it.
Casper and Plasma get very little views on their video because of no one care! The majority is buying cryptocurrencies without reading the white paper, so why should they start to watch videos to follow the development?
Remember when the scalability issue with Bitcoin was a hot topic? The same will apply to ETH. Now, it depends on how Plasma could be know
6183  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump defends Google after record EU fine on: July 26, 2018, 10:10:30 AM
This guy is a pure troll. If there are laws, it's for everyone and not depending on what is your country. The European antitrust law doesn't care if you're an American firm. It's time for Europe to stop to be submissive with The US. He doesn't like to have an American company fined for illegal practice but will have no problem to financially punish a foreign company in The US
If he doesn't see a problem then let's google doing their shady tactic on the US citizens
6184  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETF approving in August, how much it will affect the price? on: July 25, 2018, 06:59:09 PM
https://twitter.com/jchervinsky/status/1021795224958455810

According to this geezer they can stretch out their decision for this particular application until February 2019. I don't think the market will be able sustain its FOMO until then somehow.

I am not sure to get what he is saying
First, he explains how the extensions work there
https://twitter.com/jchervinsky/status/1021795228758548480

And then he says it's the last extension
https://twitter.com/jchervinsky/status/1021795231803559937
"This is the third & final extension allowed by law -- 15 U.S.C. § 78s(b)(2), in case you were wondering."

If the last extension ends on September 21, then what is the february 2019date Huh
6185  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinbase launches crypto gift card on: July 25, 2018, 06:48:21 PM
I know Coinbase is trying hard to be like a bank, I wouldn't be surprised if in 3-4 years Coinbase becomes a pure neobank (similar to Revolut) with a banking licence or something around. I do not agree with centralized stuffs too, but if there is something we can be thankful is how they helped to make bitcoin wallets more user-friendly and easier to use. Coinbase has a huge userbase now and I think most new Bitcoin users start with a wallet from Coinbase.

Most users who will use this service will be users who already know-own-use Bitcoin and are just looking to convert their coins to gift cards. You won't see a newbie buying bitcoins and then to go on Coinbase to buy their gift card. They would buy their card directly in fiat.

@socks435
You need to be logged in Coinbase.
6186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] ZenCash: Private, Secure, Resilient CryptoCurrency with zk-SNARKs on: July 25, 2018, 06:03:03 PM
so, you have decided to fork the classic equihash algo ? this is big. i have to admit i agree to this measure, but if the coin is really profitable someone will still make an asic for it.
They also have other counter-measurement against 51% attack, by modifying Satoshi Consensus to enhance its protection. You can read the post at their blog.

6187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WOW! Cryptocurrency VS Visa Transaction per second (TPS) comparison on: July 25, 2018, 05:26:33 PM
First off, the transaction fees of the crypto currencies are cheaper. And secondly, it is faster because it runs on the blockchain technology. That is the main reason why it is done faster than applying for a visa.

Who has told you such nonsense? A few months ago we were paying something like $15-$20 for a single bitcoin transaction, the network was busy as much that it was taking several hours to have the transaction completed. A bank transaction is free (SEPA) a Visa/mastercard transaction is free (the receiver pay the fee) a cheque is free... Bank transactions are instant, it's just that some bank hold the fund until a 24h period or less

Should merit system really exist? Basically no, but a solution to all the shits posts was really necessary. If there is someone to blame it's the members who abused the forum I would say. If the whole Bitcointalk community was behaving correctly then the system wouldn't be here.
6189  Economy / Economics / Re: Hackers Breached Virginia Bank Twice in Eight Months, Stole $2.4M on: July 25, 2018, 04:50:54 PM
Yeah, but unlike the Mt. Gox, Cryptsy, and other exchange "hacks", the customers are protected by insurance and the bank's own reserves.  I definitely agree that banks ought to have better internal controls such that they're not as vulnerable to phishing attacks like this, but I think crypto exchanges need more of what banks have, in general.  Insurance + capital reserves, so they can protect their clientele.  It doesn't help that these exchanges are about as transparent as a swamp at dusk.  Imagine if Yobit suddenly got "hacked" (and I'm still waiting for that to happen).  They'd close and all of their customers' money would be gone.  *poof*
I don't think any insurance will agree to ensure an exchange platform. Especially with the number of hacks we saw. I mean, there isn't a lot of exchanges that haven't be hacked (between the popular) Every 3 months it hits the news. And when it's time to pay the insurances are always looking to find something to be able to say: "nope we won't pay" lol.
I know exchanges are 'not so good" with their own security (on-site). I remember to see an infographic and there is still a lot to do in order to improve the security
6190  Economy / Economics / Re: Hackers Breached Virginia Bank Twice in Eight Months, Stole $2.4M on: July 25, 2018, 04:18:16 PM

The entry point for intrusions is often via the staff (rather than a breach in the system) it may be by negligence. lack of training in the tools used, careless, etc..
Companies now spend a lot of money to train staff in this type of attacks, and also creating internal networks with different access levels.

But like your mention about ICOs, the weakness comes from the human side, not the system itself
6191  Economy / Speculation / Re: Again BTC going down? on: July 25, 2018, 03:56:01 PM
I have an important new for you. Bitcoin price goes up and down several times per day. If you are thinking to ask this question every day it may be better for you to say away from Bitcoin. You could switch to Tether perhaps.
Bitcoin price change in 24h -1.05%, you can't stand the heat in the kitchen by just 1% ?
6192  Economy / Web Wallets / Coinbase launches crypto gift card on: July 25, 2018, 03:32:45 PM
The company integrated WeGift so users are able to buy gift cards using their coinbase wallet.  It's instant and no fee, you can use Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Btrash. The sad news is, it's currently only available in the U.K., France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy.

6193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WOW! Cryptocurrency VS Visa Transaction per second (TPS) comparison on: July 25, 2018, 02:46:09 PM
Visa is not getting 24k TPS, it's not even its full capacity. Visa can handle up to 56k TPS. But in reality, Visa gets about 1.7K TPS.
Also, Visa doesn't work like something comparable with crypto. Each transaction is verified individually, but transactions are sent in a batch later, during the night.
6194  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETF approving in August, how much will affect the price? on: July 25, 2018, 02:33:03 PM

There is some news that SEC is delayed decisions regarding some of ETFs, but it currently does not affect this main ETF from VanEck and SolidX. However is not impossible that SEC delay even this decision, it may be in next month, but it is not mandatory.

https://www.coindesk.com/sec-delays-decision-on-direxions-bitcoin-etfs-until-september/

So,  it's not so bad. We have until September to continue to see the Bitcoin price increasing.  For people like me who don't believe to see ETF approved at least,  we have something positive, 12 extra month.  Vague explanation from the SEC to explain the postpone by the way

Just a question: what about users who don't want to be known as someone who reports actively? It should be something optional to wear in the user profile (like with the "copper" tag) and not "forced" I like the suggestion from Diagaran btw (don't turn the user details in a Christmas tree or the traffic light)
6197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Courses that are Accredited? on: July 24, 2018, 08:04:53 PM
IBM one i just completed ,its just 2 courses, not bad for being free
anyone else know of any other free courses that offer a cert?

Well I must be blind because today is the second day I surf the IBM's site to find any information about the cert but I find nothing.
If it's just 2 courses I guess it's just covering the basics about the blockchain technology, right?
Could you post the link to look at here, or even messaging me it, thanks :/
6198  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are here still people that seek to join new Crypto/Blockchain Projects on: July 24, 2018, 06:45:12 PM
The majority turned the forum to a "how to make money" discussion board. I don't often see something new created here. If you post "looking for people interested to make money" you will surely receive a ton of "great project sir" posts.

I just wish the staff remove all topics related to ICO/altcoins etc...I really start to become ICO racist Cheesy
6199  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: July 24, 2018, 05:29:34 PM
Notice the 👍 they added in the message?  Cheesy Sorry but it's funny, locking account and message the customer with 👍
I think generally speaking most of the neobank are not so friendly when you have transactions related with anything from cryptos.
By the way, did you tried N26?

Yes, they are very funny  Grin

They have all this positive vibe, "Look at us, we're not a regular bank! We don't wear suits and we embrace crypto, bla bla bla..."

Fuck you! You're exactly like any other bank you phony fucks!

By the way, did you tried N26?

Yes, they blocked me when I tried to transfer from Kraken.

And I wasn't the only one.

My experience with this list as a localbitcoins trader.

I sell and buy btc with SEPA transfers. Because I receive from many people and send to many other people banks don't like this pattern and as you know it's impossible to reason with them. They act like fucking robots.

- N26: Used only once for localbitcoins. Blocked when transfering from kraken

- Revolut: Used them for some time. Was able to receive about €20k. Blocked

- Mistertango: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1709715.msg28844528#msg28844528 Blocked

- Leupay: Already received 17k and stopped. Only large transfers so less sender. Still working

- Paysera: Low activity so far. Still working

Apparently N26 is shutting me down because I requested a transfer from kraken.

My conclusion is that you can't use any of these banks to do any kind of trade.

In fact I can't understand what you can use these accounts for since some of them blocked me for sending like 10 outgoing transfers. But I suspect I'm burned and all banks are now sharing information.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way way to go is to open offshore bank accounts to continue my activity.

I see... Look like N26 has a double standard. Because not long ago I was telling to someone that N26 is dead to use for transactions related to cryptos. And one guy told me he is doing fine, using it regularly with exchange platforms, etc...
Noy worth the risk to me, I will stick to the old school or maybe give a try to ViaBuy, Despite some complaints on TrustPilot it seems to work correctly, it's just that people don't read the fees page
6200  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to the moon again!!! on: July 24, 2018, 05:16:28 PM
Yeah, surely in 2 weeks we will get back to what we are used seeing, probably. Newbies like to post "Bitcoin to the moon" as soon the price increase by $20. And "Bitcoin is dead" when the price decrease by 1$. As both happen every day, it explains why a lot of topics are created here on a daily basis
