6342  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ChangeNow.io - Scam. Illegally holding of 100 BCH (11 bitcoins). on: July 08, 2018, 04:25:11 PM
The irony is the site is advertising itself as "anonymous and limitless" cryptocurrency exchange. It means the site doesn't need your personal info and you can exchange as much as you want.
Sending all your coins at once was crazy honestly, I personally will never do it even with a reputable exchange.

You should offer them to send a notarized paper as a proof of the legitimacy of your ID

Most of the Bitcoin mining is using green energy
The stupidity here is remarkable.  How dumb can bitcoiners possibly be?

talk to yourself

Secondly, the cryptoverse is already seeing many bitcoin mining operations shift to countries where green energy is exploding, e.g. hydro power in Canada. And this dynamic isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

As Hackernoon‘s Knut Svanholm explains:

“This is not a coincidence. Green energy is getting cheaper and cheaper even without subsidies and miners need to plan ahead. Furthermore green energy alternatives provide independence in a way that fossil fuels never could. A mining farm in a cold country with a lot of wind and sunlight could be a completely self-sustaining money machine one day.”

Banks Consume More Energy Than Bitcoin
Admittedly, information about the energy consumption of the banking system is not openly available. Domingo instead extrapolated in his article several reasonable and conservative assumptions.

His computations essentially boiled down to this. There are approximately 30,000 banks in the world, each one with servers, branch offices, and ATMs. As the Visa network is just that, a network, all transactions made on it need to run back and forth through banking infrastructure.

There are a lot of middlemen in the process of doing a single Visa transaction. Therefore, Domingo asserts that the energy consumption of all banks is directly and inexorably tied to the Visa network.

Adding together all of these factors, we get approximately 100 or so terawatts of power consumed by banks each year. Clearly, this pales in comparison to the 25-30 terawatts Bitcoin consumes.
6346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Environmental Disaster: Bitcoin on: July 07, 2018, 04:27:18 PM
Talking about mining, take the example of Gold. Where Mercure is massively used and then thrown in the rivers. The fishes are tainted with it, and people are eating this. producing coal-fired energy is also a source of pollution. Cars are worst when it's time to pollution so

WARNING! WE MUST STOP TO USE CARS

Most of the Bitcoin mining is using green energy
6347  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Way to $1,000,000 on: July 07, 2018, 03:48:35 PM
If you watch the video correctly, it assumes what it could happen to the Bitcoin price in case of catastrophic scenario economically. Assuming a trojan gets into a banking computer system and steals people's money. As well talking about some countries start using Bitcoin and some retailers also as Amazon for example. The whole video is a video based on a possible drama and conspiracy, it even speaks of the new world order.
6348  Economy / Economics / Re: Uganda Bans VPNs To Prevent Users From Dodging Its Absurd New Social Media Tax on: July 07, 2018, 03:30:36 PM
This is one of the most ridiculous taxes I have ever seen, I am not even the reason. Soon we will see a country charging taxes depending on the numbers of clouds in the sky. This said the citizens can easily bypass the costs. They can use social network application such as Hootsuite, they can install a Wordpress blog and add a social network plugin (basically they will have their wall/feed in the admin area) They can buy a cheap $2 VPS from LowEndTalk then install OpenVPN on it. You can connect two users with it so it's like 1$ per person.
6349  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Guide] Hardware wallets - which one is a good choice? on: July 07, 2018, 02:19:41 PM
It's too bad for the project because I think it's something viable in the long run. But it's something that should be created without the need for a Kickstarter campaign. If someone has the fund to start then it's doable. Especially if the Trezor website could accept to feature the model on their site. Yeah Ledger Nano can't have a case

Does anyone have a blockchain council membership?
I found the group yesterday accidentally and I am thinking to join it and taking the exam. (since it doesn't cost too much) I was wondering if any user here did it before. I am looking for feedback to know it worth or not

6352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can this new global financial system work with 1600-30.000 currencies? on: July 06, 2018, 07:31:38 PM
How can this new global financial system work with 1600 official and 30.000 more unofficial cryptocurrencies?

a regulatory movement, would automatically be bigotted, and promote some at the expense of others.

the ultimate issue is that money = power, and power is always like a pyramid.

i mean there will be so much chaos, abuse, inefficiency and confusion with this new cryptobased financial system it might get unpopular altogether, because the working population will lose the most from the explosion of currencies as they lose powerful reliable currencies that they can use to travel abroad etc.

regards

It's like the Linux operating systems. Firstly we had Debian, then they forked it to make Ubuntu, then they forked it to make Lubuntu/Kubuntu and all Buntu series. Then they forked Kubuntu to make Bardlinux Some OS are a fork of a fork that has been forked from 3rd generation of a fork.

Today there are maybe over 200 operating system based on Linux. Cryptocurrencies are somewhat similar to Linux. As an open source project, everyone is able to clone it and add his twist, resulting in "everyone is creating his  crypto"
But at the end, most disappear for different reasons. It's like the Darwin theory. The same will apply to cryptocurrencies, only a few will still be used in 10-15 years. All the others will be forgotten

Hello zencash. been in the background watching this project evolve. decisions on where to invest my btc assets brought me here. i am a believer on btc but also believe there are other projects that have the potential to be a game changer. mn along with supernodes are very attractive along with teaming up with charles hoskinson <<<great move. deciding now if pointing my miners to zen instead of zcash. any input is greatly appreciated.

Zencash has more ambitions than Zcash and is not only focusing on a cryptocurrency with other products (zenhide,..)
And the community isn't the same as well, I find the Zencash community more friendly
6356  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 06, 2018, 04:15:19 PM
The problem is about +1 year old, we can't go back to 2016-2017 to report all the posts. The French community isn't a big one there is no need to have 1000 reports to show there is a problem in the forum

For now, it doesn't matter anyway. Fuck crypto, WE ARE IN SEMI-FINAL MOTHERFUCKERS !!!

(sorry, I had to)

6357  Other / Meta / Re: I nearly gave this thread a merit - what do you think? on: July 06, 2018, 04:10:03 PM
It's his/her website. Checking the post history of the user you can see that he/she is just interested to post a link to his/her site.
Such members are not interested to interact with the community not interested to get merit but just posting links to get traffic. I hate such posts because the OP is not telling anything or asking something. Hydrogen does similar but he gives his opinion and encourages discussion
6358  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Other uses of blockchain technology? on: July 06, 2018, 03:52:37 PM
There are multiple domains where the blockchain technology can be used. For example, national defense, banking, supply chain, healthcare, voting, food traceability, cars industry, ID verification, land property, ORM and so on... Keep in mind we have not explored every field but you can think that almost every domain can make use of the blockchain tech at some point

6359  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 06, 2018, 03:37:48 PM
You get the idea now. I am not going to post some links but I can easily find 50 within 10 minutes if needed

This might be the issue, Theymos might be waiting for people to report more posts before he has enough data to appoint a moderator - as he didn't seem to have very much data this time last year with only a few reports.

If there are enough unhandled reports then theymos will have to do something, there also doesn't seem to be anyone willing to moderate the board as both you and JohnUser have said that you have put too much effort into reporting posts and if no one is available to take the spot (and we can't magically produce people to moderate a board).

What is this?
You don't understand, we did what theymos said- to report, but nothing has change.

...started reporting since that day. Here are my stats to date: 438 posts with 99% accuracy (215 good, 3 bad, 220 unhandled)...

...Some other french members have stopped reporting because nothing move...
6360  Other / Meta / Trade.io is incentiving spams to promote it? on: July 06, 2018, 03:22:23 PM
For a few days I noticed that the site was often mentioned in various sections of the forum. At first, I didn't pay attention to the site.
But after seeing it mentioned several times, I wondered what the site could have so special, I'd never heard of before. Then I noticed that almost all the members who talk about the site are Newbie/Junior, Full members at the best.

Then I looked at their activity posting, and most of them post only to talk about trade.io

They open a new topic each time, and usually never post in an already open discussion if they're not the OP.
Some users are 100% posting about it while some are mixing it with others posts
