I have the same issue but not only on CoinStats but also on other apps but I solve the issue by turning off the power saving mode and manually turning off the unused apps in sleep mode or deep sleep. Or you can just remove the CoinStat app from sleep mode so that it will run in the background without pushing your app to sleep when not in use.

There is no problem using older versions than 4.4.0 I still using them the latest version only has new features added.

So the network is too busy due to lots of transactions being created these days.

And the good thing is it may attract new investors to buy more miners. However, the network or overall hashrate is pretty stable I don't see yet big companies joining to participate in mining.

That is a pretty high fee it's around $30 they are making profits on transaction fees even though they own a mining pool they do still ask for high fees which are unfair.
