541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We could use academic acceptance, I need your help! on: April 09, 2019, 01:05:45 PM
There might be some old members who will help you but in this case I am not sure that they are going to agree if with you by doing a video call. Skype is not the primary communication tool that most of us uses here. You might be able to conduct an interview (written), using discord or telegram.

Aside from that you can simply post your question here and I am one of those who is willing to answer if I have something to point out.

Again video interview is merely impossible to happen
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AGAIN: China says it wants to eliminate bitcoin mining on: April 09, 2019, 12:18:10 PM
This can be a great opportunity for small time miners. If the chinese government will continue to shutdown and ban crypto then we are starting to go back with the decentralized mining.

Don't be fooled tho by the chinese FUD, it already happened during 2017 where people  is doing panick selling. If this is going to happen again then this price bubble might continue despite the fact that we are going on pump recently so please don't

That is why we should start updating the informations lol, It is quite fun somehow to read the history ("CORRECT"). I can't even read a detailed summary of it as of now or did  I just missed it (current looking on the Beginners & Help Section
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please DON'T pay any taxes on your crypto! on: April 09, 2019, 06:05:17 AM

You've right but today I can't imagine any different solution. The world of cryptocurrencies is not independent and does not work in isolation from the real world. The only tax that can be applied is the income tax. And a relatively stable reference point is necessary to determine the income. Today, cryptocurrencies are subject to high fluctuations and their use as a reference is debatable. After that, we have thousands of them so what solution to take - choose one of them, for example bitcoin and refer to it profit or loss. And if we gain 50% in bitcoin and at the same time bitcoin will fall by 90% (that is, we will actually lose 85% in dollars), we should still pay tax on our loss - then we would lost everything we put in crypto and should add some more extra funds to pay tax.

Then if I will be directly using bitcoin or any crypto funds to by goods that I can consider as my assets, I can now simply evade paying my tax. That is the main reason why I have told you that the laws with regards to cypto taxation is not yet established.

Quote

You probably read an article about a student who invested $ 5,000 in ethereum and in November his cryptocurrencies were worth $ 125,000 but he had to pay as much as $ 400,000 tax - it's insane.

https://www.ccn.com/tax-nightmare-student-invested-5k-in-ethereum-now-owes-400k-in-taxes

So in fact today's cryptocurrency taxes connect to the Fiat system, but any other solution is unacceptable. Maybe in the future, when the cryptocurrency world will develop very much and it will start to function independently - in a complete separation from fiat, other solutions will be possible ... but not today ...

That only solidify my statement that even if we are using the current FIAT system this are still not being properly enforced or performed. The person who actually computed the tax that was given by that student is purely proves their ignorance with this technology.

545  Other / Meta / Re: How can we take Bitcoin Talk back into the Bitcoin community? on: April 09, 2019, 04:05:24 AM
I was a part of the social media groups as well who discuss this things and I can personally say that it is too far from what people are discussing here. What they focused there basically is how to "earn" and that's it.

They are just sharing numerous sites or links where you can have or guides in getting one(which are obviously scams). That is why taking pride is very important if you know this community and you know that the information that other users were getting is wrong then educate them by leading them here.

The problem is that they will not because they don't understand it and there is no easy money scheme in here. Plus if you are an asshole you won't be targeting people who knows that you are actually scamming. Instead go to those people who absolutely do not understand what they are actually doing.

Lastly, you can easily post what you want on those platforms regardless of how bullsh*ts your post are there are still some people who believes in you because of their ignorance.

Therefore I can easily say OP that we are still leading people the right way when they come here. If I am not mistaken those people who were lead in here by their curiosity actually starting to understand the technology
546  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mental health awareness friends on: April 09, 2019, 02:31:13 AM
The truth is that a lot of mental illness comes from lack of money.  As long as the current economic system reigns supreme there will be a huge segment of the population stuck in real poverty.  Financial stress causes constant stress to your brain until you reach a breaking point.

I strongly disagree with you, Meanwhile the highest suicidal rate in Asia is Japan considering the fact that they are one of the richest country in Asia therefore the idea alone is already invalid. On the other hand Philippines only have less than 4% knowing also the fact that this is one of the countries who has a lot of poor people.

The real problem here is the lack of two A's

Appreciation and Acceptance = Appreciate what you have, Accept what you no longer / don't have

It’s is definitely a good idea if you are lucky enough to have a support network to talk to people closer to you, but also there’s options of Samaritans and the benefit of strangers online you can trust that it won’t be used against you in anyway and there’s no judgment . Indeed a problem shared is a problem halved .

You’re a decent person for taking the time to talk to your friend and reassure her of having at least one supportive person. It can make all of the difference.

There are indeed people who were taking advantage of the struggling person. I did it because I have too and since I am the only one who noticed it plus I know how it feels then I just feel the responsibility to take action
547  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mental health awareness friends on: April 08, 2019, 08:40:45 AM
I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you as well for bringing this one up, I've been also suffering for the same condition worst would be last year tho luckily right now I am on the process of recovering

I know that as person who struggle for this type of problem, the first thing we should do is to reach out but that is exactly the problem. While talking to a person who is also been struggling with this(she actually has a worse struggle than I do). The first thing that came up with my mind is that they are not sharing it because they can't share it or they are not willing to share it. The very first thing I did is to have an initiative to talk to her as I am feeling that there is something wrong as I have also experienced it during that time.

That friend of mine suddenly started crying, I can't even understand her reasons for having the struggle so basically I can't do something about it. She only keeps on telling me the emptiness she has been feeling and even her parents aren't aware of it.  I was quite happy tho because even if I can't give her solutions. she have shared it and at least let some of the pain goes away.

After that I constantly talk to her and also tell her that I've had the same struggle (tho, my reason is quite obvious it is because I can no longer live the life I wanted to because of my health issues).

To end this post, I just want to tell everyone to please have an initiative to talk to those persons who are important to you. Just let them feel that you are just here willing to listen to their problems. By doing that you might be able to save someone's life.

548  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk's April Fool Joke 2020 Discussion on: April 08, 2019, 07:00:39 AM
Definitely everyone will freak out when they found this like having cold sweat while almost had a heart attack, thinking what you've done for being banned. I can now imagine our faces when that happen and you realize later that day is when everyone making shit out of you.
Hope Theymos won't consider this haha.

we should stop talking about this, We don't know how Theymos think and if ever he consider such things I can surely guarantee that the two of us would be the first victim of this idea and i might not be able to remember it on that day, sshhhhh
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling sites needs to be a mobile friendly or not? on: April 08, 2019, 05:19:06 AM

Indeed, this is was right. And the majority of gamblers now wants also to gamble on mobile since it is handy and reliable to use or inconvenient rather than you facing your laptop/desktop. However, not all gamblers will like using mobile because of one reason a small screen to gamble. But at least it is easy now to gamble compared those days that only in desktop.

It doesn't matter if there are some gamblers who doesn't want to gamble using their mobile phones. That is why it is called mobile responsive because it is responding based on the screen that it is currently running. If they don't feel like gambling on mobile phone that they just continue using the site using their desktop.

Good thing about having a site that is actually mobile responsive is that you will be able to serve both mobile and desktop users.

@TECSHARE

Now it is actually becoming ridiculous, I can't even imagine  my self being caught up for having an Airgun by a hypocrite police who's just basing by his "own" opinion.

behold New Zealand is now becoming an "Open Prison"  (we are only allowed to see what they want us to see - which is starting to make no sense) that's why  I hate politics
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please DON'T pay any taxes on your crypto! on: April 08, 2019, 01:54:36 AM

In my country, regulations regarding cryptocurrency taxes have recently been established. According to the current state, the profit from the sale of crypto on Fiat or the purchase of material goods for crypto is taxed.

In other words, as long as I keep cryptocurrencies or trade them - I exchange one cryptocurrency for another, nothing is taxed here. The tax may appear only when the funds leave the "crypto ecosystem".

While the taxation of profits when exchanging cryptocurrencies for fiat is simple, the profit when buying goods for the crypto is already problematic. If I put $ 1,000 on the crypto market and after a few transactions I collect 2btc and then buy from someone at the auction the old carpet for 2btc what amount should be taxed - convert btc to fiat according to the exchange rate of the day (but wait after all the btc course is not stable - what if btc will jump or fall on this day by 30%) or maybe you should check the actual value of the old carpet only how to check the actual value of the thing used ...

As you can see, despite the fact that the regulations are fixed, their use in practice can be very difficult ....

Then I might still consider that the regulations with regards to taxing your crypto is not efficiently build. Why? it is because as you have stated taxes are only being perform when it involves FIAT. Therefore the regulations are still basing on the FIAT ecosystem and not specifically on the crypto's ecosystem.

Therefore I can also still conclude that the regulations for taxing crypto incomes or profits are still not yet established and as of the moment the government is only linking their current regulations from FIAT to crypto so they could atleast get something from the crypto holders and  still doesn't have a control on the other things. Which is actually good in our part since this is exactly the reason why most of us are using this technology. It give us   a lot of benefits and one of that is the bias control of government
553  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Art of quitting !!!! on: April 08, 2019, 12:06:22 AM
Sometimes having an exit in mind is a bad idea. Like yesterday when Bitcoin pumped 20% if you had decided to exit you would have lost a chance to double this profit today.
The best way around it is to wait and be ready to sell at all times or set up a bot to sell for you when prices fall.

You can also keep trading during the day and exit before going to bed. I found it to be a better choice than being bothered in your sleep by an open position.

Then it seems that you haven't fully understood trading, it doesn't matter if you exit earlier than the sudden price pump. The fact that you don't have control with the market the only thing you can do is to take a profit that you have targeted. For example you only want a 10% profit therefore exiting when you already hit the target isn't bad at all.

Remember that not all are doing a day trading therefore your advise is not for all
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling sites needs to be a mobile friendly or not? on: April 07, 2019, 11:14:44 AM
If you are a casino owner your primary concern would be getting as much gambler as possible.

How much more if you were an online casino owner. One of the primary reason why some of us gambles online because of its convenience. Now if you will think about it if that is there primary concern then you should also consider making your site mobile responsive mind that currently(2019) 63.4% of our population uses mobile phones daily
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please DON'T pay any taxes on your crypto! on: April 07, 2019, 09:32:03 AM
You don't need to pay any tax on your crypto holdings (at least until now). If you are not converting your coins to fiat, then you are not legally obliged to pay any taxes. You need to pay the taxes only if you convert the coins to fiat, and there is a profit. Depending on the duration of holding, either the long-term capital gains tax or the STCGT will be applicable.

Hmm, i think you have a point since if you were just holding that coin even if the price increases and you already can have your profit. It is still not yet to be considered as an income.

I am not sure tho if we can consider it to the long term capital gain. Laws for cryptocurrency market are still not yet established unless you are committing an obvious crime like money laundering which is obviously  punishable by law.

This is maybe the main reason before why the US government can't force the coinbase to give personal infos from their users
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will Bitcoin survive after all 21M coins have been mined? on: April 07, 2019, 08:53:59 AM
Possible it may increase the Bitcoin value because the supply that generates from the miners has been stopped it may result in lower supply. So if the demand is stable the price might increase x2 or more.

I think for miner's they will still continue to mine but they are rewarded through transaction fees, not from the blocks.

Since bitcoin was being mined of almost 83.95% and 3,370,050 remaining I think it takes 50 or more years to see that all bitcoin was being mined and I think bitcoin price may become stable after all bitcoin was being mined.

Is it because of the difficulty increase that it would still take around 50 years just to mine all the coins?

I'll just hope that it will be more beneficial to miners getting their rewards from the fees rather than from the blocks

558  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Society is knowledgeable but not wise. on: April 06, 2019, 09:13:32 AM
People also do know how hard can life fvcks you but still you wanted to live everyday is that a bad choice?  I would also like to argue some points here.

For example : somebody is dying and you should act fast and the only way you could have save that person is to rush him/her in the hospital then basically you are over speeding are you actually making a bad choice?

Therefore your argument for me is very subjective and there are also situations in which only you can determine if what you have acted was the best decision or not.

I have learned before that you should be intelligent enough to exercise wisdom and the heck not all are intelligent enough, also having such knowledge doesn't mean you are intelligent.
559  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope To Everyone $1 Is A Big Thing For Them on: April 06, 2019, 08:44:42 AM

Kuddos to all the person who participated tho, we know how hard life currently is here in the Philippines. I think we should start a good project for a fundraising what you think? rather than asking someone to donate.
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meet the Wealthiest People in Crypto on: April 06, 2019, 07:30:35 AM
As expected, the real questions here would be are this people who were also responsible for the price manipulation that most of us are complaining about?

"these people" in this topic are mainly the big addresses that you can find on the bitcoin blockchain and since most of them aren't actually "people" or whales the answer to your question is not. services and exchanges,... that OP is counting as rich people weren't responsible for the price manipulations.

Well maybe but the fact that there is a person behind every addresses that we were actually talking about right?

This as example
https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/3D2oetdNuZUqQHPJmcMDDHYoqkyNVsFk9r

sending -15,946.95799204 BTC    in just one transaction can leads me to some assumption tho I don't have enough information to what I am actually saying

I am even shock that this wallet is I think not that old since it starts from 3 than 1
