741  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitpay: a new industry players will raise the price of bitcoin up to $20 000 on: December 03, 2018, 10:19:46 AM
It is clear and obvious that ICO has been leeching bitcoin's benefits and now that its price is dropping most a lot of this coins already died.

If they were sure that new investors will come then i might save bitcoin in a short period of time. As a matter of fact I am quite sure that if this investors will go in early next year. Probably if there will be hard fork happening. Then most of them will go out in the later part of 2019
742  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk should make their own coin on: December 03, 2018, 09:46:28 AM

OP is suggesting a coin with practical uses o. This platform, or maybe integrate bitcoins into the system,  well considering that BTC is used to pay for evil IP, buy copper membership, make donations if is in a way the tokens coin.

I still don't want to even consider this type of token. Aside from the fact that it is useless it is just a waste of time

Dev instead should focus on more crucial matters such as eliminating bots completely out from the community. I mean budgets should go to the security of this forum. Since it has happen already a couple of times that there were data breaches
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICOs CashOut Ethereum In October-November on: December 02, 2018, 10:58:04 AM
Bitcoin can always be the king. Therefore eth on the other hand is just following everything that the current bitcoin market situation is. Ico's are fun of using eth for their projects because of the "stability and solid support from its user" which is now its obvious that eth is isn't stable at all and Ico's are to afraid in taking risks lol
744  Economy / Economics / Re: current situation of cryptocurrency for 2018 on: December 02, 2018, 04:47:41 AM
The current year was not the most successful for the cryptocurrency market, as the market is in a downtrend. But many people have used this situation as an opportunity to invest in crypto-currencies in the hope that the market will recover sooner or later and I am sure that this is the right decision.
Not many people have confidence and awareness of this, most will only panic and sell to lose money. I think this situation is fair in any market where prices can rise and fall, but for those who believe they will recover sometime later, it is true that many will take advantage of this moment to buy more than the tragedy of panic selling.

That confidence is really not there from the start. This investors are also just experimenting without knowing what is happening. That is why there are a lot of them who were panick selling. While others who understand put that smile and grab the opportunity of the current situation.

In fact this panick sellers thinks that they might just save their amounts and it is fine with them losing a portion of their investment than to have it 0 value. Tho, they are not aware that by this type of decision making is just going to contribute to the bitcoin price fall
745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Perspective about HODL. on: December 02, 2018, 03:31:18 AM
My perspective towards hodling is that it can be bad for the economic growth of bitcoin. Bitcoin is meant to be used and not to be stored (personal opinion).

Tho, we cannot remove this kind of act since this is already a part of trading strategies and also it is having an impact towards the community.

At some point that guy who posted has his point since short term trading and hodling is the easiest solution but as you have said does nit guarantee them a profit
746  Other / Meta / Re: Attention! How To Fight Back Scams? on: December 02, 2018, 02:15:34 AM
It is all about decision making. That will either save you or will get you into trouble.

It has been proven alot that you should always think before you click or not to click. If you were that you can create thread to scam accusations section DT can tagged that person if proven but still that cannot guarantee that person out from this forum
747  Economy / Economics / Re: A Public Market is Turning 'Cashless' in the Philippines on: December 02, 2018, 01:28:35 AM
The Philippines are just creating an endless excitement in me. I wish every country can just act the way the Philippines have embraced crypto. BTC would have been over 50k USD by now.

wrong paymaya is just another digital wallet that uses FIAT and as stated above by other poster it is highly governed.  Yes, filipinos might be embracing cryptos that much but most of them has the wrong perception and most of them were being scammed.

Almost every year, millions of dollars were added in the scam amounts that was made in the philippines
748  Economy / Economics / Re: A Public Market is Turning 'Cashless' in the Philippines on: December 01, 2018, 12:38:06 PM
Although it seems good. I am still hoping til now that paymaya will consider my suggestion to incorporate bitcoin as an option of loading their wallet.

I've contacted them a year ago about that. They've had a good feedback that they will consider it but still have to discuss with the team.

As of now I am not quite surprised about this kind of act. Paymaya and Gcash are being widely used in most of the malls in the philippines. In fact there is one bus company on cebu right now that releases new buses that only accept payments through gcash
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make Bitcoin Great Again on: December 01, 2018, 05:18:22 AM

Yes sadly there is a lot of manipulation and more every day, after  each fall of the prices we have new whales that can manipulate the market in the future that is why we need more people into bitcoin

what are you talking about?, we need more people in bitcoin?, then suddenly those new people can just be a potential whales in the near future and of course can greatly add to the market manipulation.

We do not need a lot of people frankly speaking. What we need is the support of the current bitcoin users especially those whales that you were talking about. Even if the users can be just less than 1m but when it has everyones support then it will be "great again" just like the old days
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make Bitcoin Great Again on: November 30, 2018, 08:19:37 AM
Promoting bitcoin might really drive new users but that alone can't make bitcoin better again. Mind that most people in the world right now know what bitcoin is but not all of them are into it and mostly also does not understand how the system works.

Therefore, promoting is a good option to promote new bitcoin projects but it isn't when you were promoting bitcoin itself alone.

Lastly, I always believe that what makes bitcoin a good currency  is when we can transfer funds easily with lower fees and faster transaction and not the price that most of us are up to. Bitcoin's current price is already high but the fees and transactions are the real problem. 3 years back then bitcoins price is small but the transactions are faster and the fees are also lesser which makes all the bitcoin business smoother.
751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Not Ripe To Replace Gold: Analyst Kristoffer Inton on: November 30, 2018, 05:05:29 AM
that is a very dumb statement which only has half truths!

bitcoin and gold are not even in the same category for bitcoin to try and replace gold! bitcoin is a global and decentralized currency which is unique in its own way  so you can't really expect a currency replacing gold! it is like saying USD is replacing gold!

the only thing correct about this statement is the fact that bitcoin is still young and it is in its early stages of adoption.

You are somewhat right on that statement. I can tell that you were probably one of the early adopter of bitcoin (cryptocurrency) because you were obviously (with no hesitation) consider bitcoin as a currency.

The problem with the statement made by kristoffer is that his perspective towards bitcoin is different. Just like the other bitcoin users who consider bitcoin as a pure asset (like Gold) and not a currency.

Quote
while gold is an element which is used for many things but not as a currency and mostly as an investment.

As I've seen towards the new adapters is that just like kristoffer they think bitcoin as an asset like GOLD.
752  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk should make their own coin on: November 30, 2018, 04:53:35 AM
Ahhm, if we create our own then we should not call it "Bitcointalk" .org anymore. That defeat the sole purpose to why this forum was created in the first place. Aside from that this coin that might be added is for sure just going to be on the list of all shitcoins.

Who will support it? probably less than 10% of the BTT population (it includes devs and who voted that this might be a good idea). Badges are enough as an appreciation to those who contributed but a new coin is pointless IMO
753  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is growing up so fast. 9 years old today on: November 23, 2018, 01:37:58 PM
Be lated , happy bday to this community. Being a part of this forum for 3 years is just one of my awesome experience being a part of the early adopters of bitcoin in my country with the knowledge that i have coming from here really gave some of my colleagues an idea of how crypto works.

Spread the coin and cheers!

755  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks Just Suffered Their Worst Loss in Months on: October 19, 2018, 09:27:14 AM
Those companies are large enough and they may have been in this industry for a long time. Yet, they are still considering the all time high this year as their basis of the stock value.

That war between china and US is a healthy thing so other exchanges can perform than most of the exchanges made from both of this countries. So what if the fall will continue?  Smaller bitcoin price is much better cause the 24hr all time high and low can be more stable.
756  Other / Meta / Re: Unfair to Jr.Members on: October 17, 2018, 11:24:03 AM
Unfair... not likely... but let's discuss...
I have opened a topic in the Beginner section to help newbies (or demoted jr.s) to earn 1 merit, I've only asked to provide 5 meritable posts from the Bitcoin section, but there were only 2 (!!!!!) applicants in three weeks time...
This clearly means for me that
1. Newbies or demoted Jr.s are not posting in the Bitcoin section but in the Off topic or in the Alt section, or
2. Newbies don't need this kind of help because they can earn the necessary 1 merit for themselves somehow, or
3. They just don't care and they only report their social media participation here, and they don't need that single merit at all, or
4. etc....
So to summarize, merit system works, that's all

4 out of 4. As been stated always that most of them are not here to contribute but to suck out. I hope someday theymos would realize that and will take necessary action for bountry threads. Maybe atleast a full member or higher can only participate with bounty campaigns. Plus a certain necessary merits are also required, so that it will be more cleaner and I also do not believe that we can rely that one to bounty managers cause some of those are also suckers.

758  Economy / Economics / Re: Sick and tired of the cryptocurrency bullshit!!! on: October 16, 2018, 11:49:38 AM
If you were ever made yourself more clear about crypto currencies' moment, you will never get frustrated like this. I do understand the pain behind waiting for a hike holding coins, but you need to convince  yourself of crypto's nature. 2017's spike made everyone fall on a sick hoping to have a huge hike as like 2017. Just compare 2018's 1st,2nd and 3rd quarters with previous years. You will not be annoyed seeing the growth trend. The crypto is travelling as normal but we are not. Our expectation is totally high where we need to have less expectation. Too many predictions, news and articles written by individuals impacted this fever.

That is the whole point. People would come here having that mentality(to get easy bucks, or bitcoin is an easy money investment. Hold and sell) which is just a pure expectations. Yet when they are already here looking at the price for example $1000 during their purchase but suddenly a few months later they saw the price is now down to around $800. Most of them then gets pretty frustrated.

Being in a depressive state because of the market will not even solve anyone's problem at the moment and it would only get to worsen things for such an individual eventually. There is so much to the opportunities every trend in the market brings and because people mindset is already clouded with the idea of getting rich fast, the ability to think straight and be wise will deteriorate. He may call it cryptocurrency bullshit now because of his own lapses, and rather than finding where he has made a mistake and amend some things, he is out there blaming the world.

I hope in the long run when he sees the market grown hugely; he won't come back telling us stories of how he missed the train now because of his own wrong decisions.

Exactly, instead of treating the problem most  of this people are just contributing to the problem.
759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whales; Myth or not on: October 16, 2018, 08:16:53 AM
There are two types of whales the one you were talking about was just the basic type of whale while the other one are those who knows how to play the game. Of course if they can dump the price they can easily pump it up also when they wanted to and when some of the smaller traders goes with the flow then the impact is really high.

The concept of whales is not limited to individuals. Some companies are considered big whales such as[ Coinbase & Bitman.] and some wallets which can play this role.
In the end, the goal is to achieve interests even if this causes some harm. Just like what happened with Bitcoin at the end of last year, "Spamming network for BCH" or companies trying to change it into a central currency and operating as an international bank. "Coinbase, ETF"  Or conservative do not want to support the market to reduce prices.
So whales are there, and they can change some rules of the game.

Exactly when they know how to take advantage of their asset they can play the game. Everything that those whales decides are affecting the market whether we like it or not.
760  Other / Meta / Re: Unfair to Jr.Members on: October 16, 2018, 07:31:20 AM
Because most of the spamming problem starts from newbie and jr.members.

In my perspective if you were still jr.member before the 1 merit system happens you should have to really go back to newbie and prove something that atleast your worth it.

Earning 1 merit is not that hard tho. Plus it is still being highly abvious
