Cricket match prediction discussions

Morning all, hoping all you fellow cricket fans might be able to help me out with something...

I'm currently planning to host a competition for the Cricket World Cup - free to enter with bitcoin prizes up for grabs.

The idea was to run a basic match predictor, or bracket prediction competition, but we have done a few of those already and I was looking for a slightly different take on the format.

My question is - are there any particular aspects of cricket games that you prefer to bet on other than the money line?

Run Rate, fall of wickets, amount of boundaries, etc? I'd like to go with something a bit more fun than the usual 'who will win game x?' tournament.

Great news. There was some guy who was asking about sportsbooks where you could bet in the upcoming World Cup and I recommended your site and Sportsbet. I advise providing bets on boundaries and sixes since I am expecting many of them(Especially from the West Indian players).

Finally we get to see some international cricket matches with a T20 match between Ireland and England later tonight and then the Ireland Tri-nation series starts on Sunday between the WI, Ireland and Bangladesh, I'm interested to see how the WI go in this series as we can get an idea on whether they will maintain their form from the previous series against England.

In cricket match some time it is impossible to guess which one will prove themselves to be the world champion because now every team has their negatives but we have to wait and see how far the nations will prove themselves to be a champion. Sometime we will never expect which team will become the world champion.

It all comes down to the team that can adapt to the English conditions the quickest based on my research. I am not expecting any surprises though.

Yea you are that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are now in very very bad position. Mainly Bangladesh is now passing difficult situation in Cricket world. They lastly played against NZ and did not win any match of the series. So I also think Bangladesh is not capable to reach semi-final.  

I don't think Bangladesh are capable of reaching the quarters in their current form. They were actually a much better team in the past, but are completely messed up currently just like Pakistan.

Don't think Pakistan is in bad condition because when it comes to the world cup and T20 they will reach finals many times, we have seen Pakistan reached much time to the final so we shouldn't consider Pakistan as a week team.

Did you even watch Pakistan play recently? They were decimated by Australia in the ODI series which is why I stand by my statement that they probably won't even make it to the quarters.

A poster actually shared this news before you a little bit earlier and this truly delighted me since it is always good to see more and more countries joining the world of Cricket. It makes sense that some teams have not been ranked yet since they need to prove themselves over time.

All the teams are unpredictable, but I would say Pakistan team is not consistent with there gameplay. They might have played semis and finals and also won, but this time it is not the same. The other teams are quite consistent with there performance and as discussed by many I also doubt any on of either Pakistan Bangladesh, Afghanistan and WI might find it difficult to reach semis. But as I said all teams are unpredictable, anything can happen.

Ireland performed phenomenally against England who were missing some of their top players, but still had a great set of players. It actually looked like Ireland might pull through at the end. Am not surprised since this team has tons of potential.

Tier is a good thing but they should make it more transparent. Let 12 teams stay in tier one, hold worldcup with them. The lower two teams should relegate to the 2nd tier and the top 2 of the 2nd tier get their chances to the first. Same should be done with test cricket also. Why shouldn't teams get permanent privileges? They deserve such privileges completely and this applies to every single sport in the world. Some teams are just better than other teams at the end of the day and that will always stay true due to multiple factors like experience etc.

No one deserve permanent privilege. For example, look at Zimbabwe. They are still having the test status, despite performing below par for more than a decade now. IMO, there are far better teams out there, which deserve test status. On top of that because of their test status they receive 10 times more funding from the ICC, when compared to the other teams such as Nepal and Netherlands.

Cricket is not being played in most of the countries of the world and it is the sports of few nations only. Still the game is very interesting and those who watch cricket are never bored of less teams. Also they are three formats, Test, One day, T20 due to which we are able to watch the cricket matches almost all the year.

Not a global sport? Lol. Seriously? Cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in the world and countries from around the world participate in it obviously making it a global sport. It is a popular sport money wise too since cricketers get paid hefty amounts for their services.

Small number of teams does not mean it is a domestic sport. Do your research people.

It is not a global sporting event in many parts of the world is simply because of the huge time period you have spent in order to get the final result and not because of the privilege system, i am not sure what you meant by that.
Test Matches - 5 days
ODI- 8 to 9 hours
Who will be spending that much time to watch a match and in order to attract the global audience they have introduced T20 and it is an instant hit in several parts of the world.

Again we are debating on the popularity of Cricket ? :-P

No debate about the viewership and Common wealth countries dominate cricket and not the rest of the world.

Ireland will never develop in to a strong team. Because their top players are stolen by England (Morgan, Joyce, Rankin.etc). You can say that the loss of one or two players should not matter much. But imagine how India is going to perform, if their top batsmen (Kohli) and top bowler (Bumrah) is not playing for the side. Unless this poaching is stopped, Ireland will go down the drain and end up like Kenya.
