I don't think that Bitcoin will replace USD. The government is highly interested in controlling money. Every government does. It will always be an alternative to fiat. Or maybe a whole new crypto currency controlled by the government.
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I don't think so.
Btc is very expensive. Maybe it will be recongnized as an official currency but it won't replace Dollar.
If it will replace it will take time, I mean more than 15 years.
I disagree. Bitcoins are very much popular now and soon will be leading currency of the world. They do have the potential to replace dollar forever in the developed countries. At worst, they can coexist with dollar. Bitcoins have all the properties of currency and rather more striking than paper money.

Nobody can replace united states dollars I think. An intervention comes from united states to the economies that are trying to replace or change dollars resulting in a financial crysis.

Being popular doesn't mean it will be a good currency that will be used by the world, you must also think what can these digital currency do in a country if that happens.

I agree bitcoin having a great potential on being a world currency, but replacing dollars is way too far, 15 years is not enough, also even if bitcoin  has a a good price in the future, it is still not enough. It has a great volatility that will affect a country's economy. Also, you can't expect that all people will be supporting or using bitcoin and many other digital currency.

You are telling that bitcoin have all the properties of currency? Are you kidding? So from your post, you are saying that real money or fiats are super volatile where it changes in just a minute? That fiats are decentralized? And no one owns it. Bitcoin is still unstable and not ready to be used by a lot of people, we still need to wait.

Fiat money is more stable than crypto currency. There isn't even a subject for debate. But it is not important. Bitcoin has many advantages which are not Fiat money. It would be better if these currencies will continue to exist in parallel.

15 years? I think even in 30 years we will still be using paper. First Bitcoin has to become stronger and more stable.

15 years is already enough to see that there will be half of the total population of the world will be using bitcoin, crypto currencies and for sure digital currencies or will make transactions automated. I had to believe with it because the world government will have their own currency and will implement the usage of it.
It might be starting in few years. Because as bitcoin showing the value of its one coin then people would easily start investing into bitcoin.

One day it would become a paper as you said. But there are some problem I hope it would be remove on bitcoin as soon as possible. Like one of them is government actions some of government are against bitcoin. But trust me many of country are getting interest in bitcoin now a days. So I hope the restriction against bitcoin remove soon.

The answer is when all functions of government become privatized and for hire/contract only status, without any oversight. AKA we won't live to see it.
Although dollar is ruling on the market being a king currency, but bitcoin is the new emerging progressive currency that may be proved threaten for dollar. Bitcoin is getting popularity very much across the world and it will become very a great competitor of dollar in the market, when bitcoin recognized and legalized by most of the world countries.

It is unlikely that bitcoin can replace the dollar because the bitcoin itself is merely a property that can be exchanged for real currency and the bitcoin property itself is intangible so bitcoin can not be known by all the general public especially in people who do not know about bitcoin, But the value of bitcoin is parallel to the dollar so it has exchange rates like the current dollar currency.

yes that is right that bitcoin is the new emerging of the world. we can call it as the king currency of the world. in fact now people trend is changing that they are now taking more interest in online currency and therefore bitcoin is their first choice and that is the reason that bitcoin price is increasing too much and it is expected that its price will cross 5000$ in next few months.

There are a lot of currencies and dollar belongs to the legal currency and he is the king also in their race while bitcoin is the king in crypto
currency. Both have different features and usage and they cannot be compared with each other to determine which is better.
All I can say is that if they exist together, they will progress together.

yes that is right that bitcoin is now the new emerging currency of the world, but i think still it cannot compete with USD which is in fact the king of all the currencies of the world. bit mow bitcon is also becoming popuar and i think very soon bitcoin will become in such potion to compte with USD, because the users of bitcoin are increasing so rapidly.

I think this is not Bitcoin, but that any crypto-currency could replace it is high probability. Problems with external debt and the gold currency fund will not allow it to be done instantly, but the collapse of the dollar would remove many obligations from the US

Bitcoin is being used to grow and multiply the capital, money is into circulation over crypto eeps growing year by year, but this isnt enought to hit or replace any currencie, no matter how cheap it can be against bitcoin. Bitcoin is being used as speculative investment with huge potencial, a lot companies already trading over it instead fiat marketplace, but be sure bitcoin wont be printed, the future the countries should stop print money and create the digital currencie for each country.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
Bitcoin's price might be higher than that of dollar ,but that doesn't mean that bitcoin can  replace dollar. Dollar is known by most of the people but Bitcoin is not.Dollar has been there in the world for a long time and Bitcoin is not. People will trust dollar any day when it comes to choose between dollar and bitcoin. Bitcoin will take a few years at least to make sure that people recognize it.

I wouldn't say it's impossible that bitcoin replaces the dollar / fiat currency, but it's extremely improbable and would take 50+ years. In the US, last year was the first year that more credit/debit superseded cash in volume. Progress takes a lot longer than most people expect, especially when changing a societal norm.

More importantly, governments will do everything in their power to prevent this from happening. The USD is the true crux of American hegemony.
Replacing of bitcoin with dollar is happening anytime, but it is a threat for dollar to replace with bitcoin because bitcoin is a great revolution in currencies through digital technology. It is not so far that you thinking for 3000. You have seen that through technology changes occur very soon and I think no doubt that bitcoin will replace with dollar in future.

On what would the value of bitcoin be based? Like the euro it is a baseless currency with a value dependent on demand.

everything depend on demand, i don't know what you're traying to say with this, but if the dollar ever collapse and bitcoin replace it the value would be astronomically high, this want happen soon this is guaranteed
but the possibility is there, it's in the hands of the people not governments, if anybody will use bitcoin, bitcoin price will explode otherwise otherwise it will only be used as an alternative

i dont think so.they are different i dont think this could be a possible to happen.it cannot be..bitcoin is a cyptocurrency.

No I do not think Bitcoin will replace dollar soon, as well as any major national currency. However, if there is something sure, this is that Bitcoin will replace PayPal, Perfect Money and any other money transfer tool over the Internet.

Yes, Bitcoin can replace payment system online and other virtual cash as Paypal, Netheller, Advcash, Perfect Money if Bitcoin can useful with user, example: not have error, fees cheap, send money fast, safe, security, privacy, ...

Bitcoin can not replace the dollar, because these are two different directions. Most likely they will exist complementing each other. It is more pertinent to wonder whether another bit of currency will replace bitcoin.
