Yes... He deserves all the support after his sacrifices for the cob during those tough times of ban and point deductions. At 37, the guy is a go for the money if he's wise just like his colleagues in the industry, I wonder what he could still do in the next 2-3 years when he would have clocked 40 years of age. For me, building your retirement should be for players at such an age and it should go to the highest bidder.

It is never a good idea to compare players with each other when they are totally different types of players and even in general you have to look at the age individually. Players with outstanding performances at age 37 are, well you can guess it, outstanding. Modric, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, all those players have had different physical conditions than some players who retire at the age of 33. I doubt that Lukaku will still be a top scorer in European leagues in 7 years from now. I can't be sure, but I doubt it. For now extending the contract makes sense.

Chelsea are a rich club but they must obey financial rules from UEFA. They are already in a watch list of UEFA and they will have to try to balance between transfer values from bought and sold players. With players who are receiving high salary and Chelsea don't have plan to use, they will try their best to sell those players and get some sort of money back.
