I don't know how this season has been any better for Freiburg than the previous one. They are now in fifth place in the Europa League zone, last season they were in sixth place, also in the Europa League zone. To say that Freiburg has wasted a chance this season after they have finished the Bundesliga season on rank 5 is a pretty weird statement. We should not forget where Freiburg is coming from. There is no doubt in this season we have impressive run from the Freiburg but their all hard work gone in vain as they lost their last three games from four which bring them down to fifth even things were completely into their favour, but this inconsistency hurt badly still have rank above teams like Leverkusen and Frankfurt is good end of this season now they need to keep this momentum because next season could be tough with few teams are trying to improve their quality for the better performance.

As you said in part of your post I cut off. Bayern Munich just wanted to bet on Tuchel to replicate his performance at Chelsea in his first season there when he won the champions league. But I am guessing that things will not work out as Bayern Munich has planned. I do not see Tuchel as a very long term coach of Bayern Munich.
To get results only is not the issue, player management and lots more could also be some issues for Tuchel. But let's wish him well and expect the best thing from them.

Tuchel has a rather difficult task and in many respects it depends on luck. Firstly, the title in the Bundesliga will not be perceived as an achievement - this is what should be in any case.
