The DFB Cup matches were drawn at the weekend. Bayern München will play against Preussen Münster who have just been promoted to Liga 3. Dortmund will play against Schott Mainz from League 5 and Leipzig will play against Wehen Wiesebaden. Wehen Wiesbaden have just been promoted to Liga 2. The first round matches will take place from 11-14 August 2023.

Obviously both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are the big favorites in these matches. Still Preussen Münster could definitely be a difficult opponent for Bayern. They have advanced to the third Bundesliga which means they are all full time football professionals and those matches are usually the very first "real" matches of a season when the big clubs maybe are still looking to find new players or the right system and so on. A lot of upsets have already happened in the DFB cup.

Leverkusen have made a big progress since Xabi Alonso arrived at the team. They were strolling around the relegation area before he came. People were wondering how successful Xabi Alonso could be. Because he was an inexperienced manager as you know. This was going to be his first proper manager experience and he started with a pretty decent team like Leverkusen.

He came here to take a big responsibility to save this team from the threat of relegation. But he dealt with this situation pretty well. He didn't just make do with making the team get away from the relegation area. They even secured a spot for the Europa League by finishing as the 6th.

The board must be loving him now. However I'm pretty sure next season's target will be top 4. As Xabi Alonso will be in control as of the beginning of a season this time, I think he can do this tough work also.

I must admit, Xabi Alonso deserves credit for stirring a sea change at Leverkusen, hauling it from near-collapse to a Europa League spot - an exceptional rookie feat, right? Yet, its hard to forget our initial goal of a top 3 finish under Gerardo Soene. The bitter pill is that the season's first half was a catastrophe - we were flirting with relegation!

Bayern and Dortmund shouldn't have problems although it would not be the first time that a 1. Bundesliga team loses against a 3. Bundesliga team, but i wouldn't expect that. The least comfortable game is probably for Leipzig against Wehen Wiesbaden. 2. Bundesliga clubs aren't as easy to beat as it may sound and Wiesbaden will be 1000% motivated after having been promoted and now getting the chance to knock out Leipzig in their home stadium. it often depends on how those games start I think. An early goal for the favorite usually slows the game down in favor of the favorite. Most of the other games aren't really that interesting.

This is exactly the dilemma that Dortmund fans face. Is Dortmund a club that wants a championship or a club that wants to sell players and make a profit? They cannot do both at the same time. They came very close this year, but it didn't happen. Even if they were champions, they would continue to sell players. It's like a Dortmund tradition. Still, I think they are successful. If their aim is just to make a profit, it's a great club. In the championship race, they take place in the ranking after Bayern Munich and go to the European cups. I think this is success.

I don't think there is matter of worry about Borussia Dortmund future because mostly they make their way for the having better results into Bundesliga which is their trading, and they never try to won trophies because this is not in their target now they already sold their best player for this season Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid which bring good profit for them and now their agents are working on for having few youngster which will do good work for them in this season, and they will be able to have youngster in their squad which will helps them for development and then have again huge profit.

Lewandowski, Haaland and now Bellingham all are bought for this purpose with now having their life impressive into their dream clubs, hopefully things will be gone as like this for them, and they will collect huge funds with this way as well.

Even though leverkusen was failed in europa league but xabi alonso helping this club so much to leave from relegation zone. It needs only a half of season for xabi to make leverkusen left from the relegation zone which is amazing. he was also able boosting the mentality from all of leverkusen's players. I think that the next season gonna be difference as xabi will put higher achievement to play in UCL. Leverkusen is slowly but surely climbing up again.
It will better if this club able to compete with bayern and dortmund at the top positions next season. Im waiting for another amazing performance by leverkusen soon.

It is undeniable that Xabi Alonso brought Leverkusen to get up after they had difficulties at the start of the season, Xabi's work was not as smooth as that because they also experienced ups and downs and in the end Xavi was slowly able to push up to a better rank than before.

I don't think Bayer Leverkusen's performances have been very good this season. Especially in the last 6 matches they could not win. The team could qualify for the Champions League if they perform well in these matches. Bayer Leverkusen management will likely look for a new coach next season. Even though my symathies towards Bayern Munich are definitely higher than the one for Borussia dortmund i am also not really happy with that transfer. First of all i think it will definitely weaken Dortmund quite a bit because Guerrero definitely was one of their best players. At the same time though i think that he will have a very hard time to get into the starting Eleven of Bayern. I just don't think that he is stronger than any of the current Bayern players. He is very versatile though.

Well, that’s exactly what they do. They are always trying to look for young players who are showing great potential and selling them for a good price later. I strongly believe that this is a big reason why they are never actually improving.

That is the big problem that is still happening at Dortmund, they always sell players who have great potential to become stars, so that all that remains are standard players who are unable to compete at a higher level and that is the reality that is happening in Dortmund's current body.

If you are raising a player who is showing good potential and eventually when he becomes one of the world's best, you sell him to your biggest rival, Bayern Munich, you are not going to have much of an accomplishment to talk about. That’s exactly what has been happening with Dortmund. There is a reason why they generally cannot attract good players, and even if they have a good player in the team, he wants to leave when he is approached by other clubs.

They still enjoy business in the players they have so that competition for the title race is only limited to hopes and targets that are difficult for them to achieve. I love to watch der Klassiker or matches with many goals in this league. But the thing I also don't like is this dominance of Bayern Munich for over 10 years.
