This caused them to fall behind the championship race very much as well. They are doing much better in the Champions League actually. Being 11 points off the leaders is a gap that will be difficult for them to catch up with and they are now in 5th place with 4 points off 4th place which is now occupied by Leipzig. Having lost some important players in the squad now their decline is very much felt, and I haven't seen any standout players to sell later on. Lol

Even though the Union Berlin squad is not much different from the previous season and they are still trained by the same coach. But unfortunately this is not in line with what they did last season and they are again a weak team this season. The distance between them and the 10th-placed team is 6 points, which still leaves a chance for them to enter the top 10 first. Union Berlin's journey this season is very sad, they are called the Dark Horse, and last season they always made surprises, but this season their performance has suddenly decreased, both in the Bundesliga and they have to fight to avoid the relegation zone and in other competitions. Actually Union Berlin did not really expect what they are seeing right now because there intention was to go far on this season but however it was quite unfortunate that they were not able to perform they way they had expected to perform on this season league because they made a quit poor performance since the beginning of this season, however if we check there statistics and there wining rate you will see that Union Berlin performance was like a club that are not ready to go far this season because they have lose so many matches since the beginning of this season so perhaps no matter how efforts and performance they put now I don't think they can go far because there current position on the league table is almost at the bottom of the table so no matter how hard they tried they cannot even get to the seventh position on the league, and however considering there performance I doubt if they can even win Bochum on there match because there is no way Bochum will easily allow them to win on there home.

Basically Union Berlin is a mediocre team but ya, because in the last three seasons Union Berlin has managed to compete at least in the top seven of the Bundesliga standings, then that might make you think Union Berlin is an elite team. Even though ya, in reality Union Berlin is not a big team or a seeded team in the Bundesliga so yes, with the decline in performance that they experienced this season I think it is still part of a process so it is normal to happen.

However, if you think Union Berlin will not be able to enter the top 10 in the Bundesliga standings this season, then I think that assumption is quite underestimating Union Berlin.
