Those guys are really chasing the big 3 here like two years ago, yes they can win few masters tournaments, but in the grand slam, they really faltered that's why tennis is still in the hands of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer. I also believe the big 3 are still in shape but age somehow affect them sometime and experience is what they use to win against the young star player. The big 3, specially Federer and Nadal and selectively picking tournaments they want to join that's why they have stayed long at their age. And I have said before, they have the mentality, not just the skills to really compete with the young generations of tennis players. Definitely, sooner or later the young guys are going to catch up with them, but for now, we need to see the young generations proved it this year specially in grand slams.

You guys have points in the discussions, unfortunately, I have ran out of merits to give to you.

Djokovic, Nadal and Federer are all aging, no doubt about that. I think Federer started this kind of sabbatical in tennis, taking long lay-offs to heal his body and help him recover mentally, and so is Nadal. Only Djokovic is active compare to the two but we all understand that he is the younger of the big 3.

As for the young players, yes all of them are capable of winning a Grand Slam in the future, no question about it. But the big three is so dominant in the last ten years. That's why it's very difficult for the young generations to somewhat break that streak, unless they retire or got injured. Those young guys really need to elevate their games, specially the mental aspects of the game.

I once watched an interview with tennis legend John McEnroe. He said that there are some young players who will be able to replace the position of the top 3 seen from their played, but why untill now has not happened one of the reasons because young players are too active or busy on social media. In my opinion this is just a matter of time because right now there are still 3 big eras, soon the young tennis players will replace them.

You're right with you said because big 3 are yet to be satisfy with they have accomplished and if the young star want to win any tournament they have to do something extraordinary in the tournament.

Yes,anyhing can happen in the world of tennis and theres still chance for Federer's to be the winner of another grand slam but the chance are slim due to the level of his fitness  because the new players are not joking these days.

Also, it became obvious that especially Federer but also the other 2 players, Nadal and Djokovic, choosing the tournaments they will play and especially preparing for 4 GS tournaments.
I think they are most motivated by the GS tournaments themselves because they are aware that they are on the march to the title of the greatest in tennis history and each of them wants to be first in the end.
After all, Djokovic has already openly admitted that he wants to have the most GS titles won at the end of his career.
The other, younger players, are still not mentally at that level but it is obvious that Thiem and Medvedev are very close and soon they will start winning the GS titles.

Because they can broke those guys mentally in a 5 setter, because they will have to elevate their game one notch and close out the shows. The catch here is that if they are going to learn from playing against this tennis greats. We've seen that they can evenly played the first 3 sets even winning the majority of them.
