There is no shortage of subplots in the upcoming NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. Most of them center on LeBron James and the team he left six years ago, which he is facing now in the NBA Finals. But one of the more frivolous, but entertaining storylines, is the case of Dion Waiters’ two teams from the 2019-20 season facing each other in the Finals. And in theory, even if the Lakers lose, the Miami Heat players could vote to include Dion Waiters in their Finals financial bonuses and to give Waiters a championship ring.

There's a big if, because Heat has to vote to include Waiters in their financial bonuses and gets a ring, I doubt the team would do that, that would destroy the essence of the championship.

Also according to this, Andre Iguodala on facing LeBron James in Finals:

Since the 2015 Finals, no defender has guarded James more than Iguodala, who has held James to 44% shooting on 139 field goal attempts, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

So good stats by Iggy against James, however, we didn't see his full extent if he can still go against Lebron at his age now. So it will be a interesting matchup and see if that stats hold.

Iggy is still a good defender, he was very useful in the Heat vs Celtics series and IIRC, he was playing more minutes in game 6 where they close out the Celtics, so I guess he can still guard Lebron as he knows him very well.

Well, I agree Iggy is a good defender, but LeBron is just hard to contain. In 2015 LeBron averaged 35.8ppg, 13.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists in the NBA finals series. A number which you can't say Iggy and the Warriors did a good job defending LeBron throughout the series. Nonetheless, Iggy is a good piece from both ends of the floor.  The Miami Heat is obviously the underdog with the match up, but I know they can put a good fight like the Denver Nuggets or better.
I'm so excited to see what defensive techniques they'll use to stop LeBron and AD.

It seems that my vote before the start of the season was right as I vote for Lakers ( was to obvious that Lakers will be into the finals and I think that 90% they will be the winners of it ). Remember that Kobe defeated Houston then Nuggets and played against a Florida team into finals and won it so this time looks like the same thing is going to happen but this time with LeBron...I might be wrong but stats don't lie.

They had been least favorite but unexpectedly they beat out those powerhouse teams in the east and really shook off everyone and now they are fighting against Lakers? Whom would really expect?

Limiting James' activity (which actually we aren't sure if that will be the case) can't really slow down the Los Angeles Lakers' offensive plays. Looking at the playoffs stats, it's obviously that LeBron James is not only the threat unlike in his Cavaliers era that when you remove James, it's a sure loss to Cavaliers*.

But that review is basic. Coach Eric Spoelstra and the whole Miami Heat surely knows that LeBron isn't only the one they need to be focused. I'm sure they already talked about it on the table especially the concern about dealing with Lakers bigman which is no doubt play a big role why Lakers are here in the finals.

Another thing is that if they focus on LeBron, he can just switch from a shooter to a passer throughout the game and that makes him a threat against the heat. Limiting James isn't the priority of the Heat right now since they have elite defenders. What they might focus on is the shaded area because the Lakers have the advantage over the Heat in terms of the players who can be in the paint.

This will be a good match. I'm expecting the series will be over in Game 6. Almost 1 hour before the gme tip-off, can't wait to watch it live.

I'm also here waiting for the match while having some coffee . I also expect this series to end in 6 or maybe 5 in favor of the Lakers but I bet Heat in Game 1 .

Right, that's why the stats are very interesting, what I'm just trying to say is that Iggy needs to be active as we haven't seen him that much, maybe game 6 but he shows that he is a veteran by contributing with his 3's.

Russel could make high score because the ball always pass to his hands and then he does not also hesitate to shoot in the ring. Likewise with Kevin Durant as he was the scoring champion before way back when he was playing in OKC with James Harden. Now that the key players had been separated with James Harden already in the Houston Rockets and experience appearance on series same as with Russel Westbrook but only Kevin Durant had been into championship with Golden States and become an MVP.

Huge blowout win by the LA Lakers, but it's just one win, what I'm worried with the Heat now is Bam's health, hopefully he will be back, he is one of the most important piece of the Heat. While this is a bad news for the heat.

With what has happened in game 1, it looks like the Miami heat has no chance anymore, well, that's the risk now. Lakers has a big chance to win this, it might not be a close series though.

yeah, while everyone expected that Heat is going to be on their max in first match, it was quite opposite, and Lakers done the job in first half
it could be said that they needed one half to claim a title, but hopefully Heat will re-organize for next match, since if they lose match no.2, IMO this series could be over in four matches
