LeBron James made history after his away performance against the Washington Wizards. LeBron James became the second highest scorer in NBA history by increasing his regular season career total to 36,947. Although the LA Lakers did not show the desired performance this year LeBron became a giant with his performance in his team.

Good for him, however, the excitement is not that high because the Lakers are losing games so it's not good to celebrate the success of one person in a team while the team are in serious struggle this year. Lebron could drop 30+ points in a game because he is the top scorer, and sometimes he can make more than that especially when Westbrook struggles on making shots.

It'll be hard for anyone to make the case that LeBron isn't the GOAT after he passes Kareem on the all time scoring list.  Jordan will always be the ghost he's chasing though.  When it comes to Jordan, you have to remember the guy missed nearly 2 seasons in the middle of his prime, then retired early.  There is no doubt in my mind that if Jordan were chasing points instead of championships, he would have been the leading scorer (gambling controversy aside). 

Seeing LeBron have great games and lose shows that the NBA is not only more competitive these days, but that LeBron isn't as far ahead of his competition as Jordan was.  Even Westbrook had a good game yesterday and they still lost...  Hate to see it.

There is no doubt that LeBron is the GOAT, and he has already proved it. At the same time, I agree that Jordan was clearly at a higher level than LeBron. By the way, MJ missed 4 seasons in his career, and if he hadn't been away for so long, he could have scored over 40k points. It seems to me that it could have been quite an achievable goal for him, given that he was capable of scoring more than 28 points per game before retiring from the league.

We can agree to disagree.  Lebron started earlier than Jordan as well.  Lebron is great no doubt, but the goat that's not just a given if he passes Kareem.  Jordan unretired and won 3 championships and dominated.  As good as the era was (magic, Hakeem, Ewing, reggie, barkley, Malone, etc etc) he was undeniable the best player on the court always.  And like I said different era, now aways no one plays d and hand checks are fouls.  Jordan in this era would be insane.

Jordan would be insane in any era.  It's hard to make the case against either of them.  In the end though, Jordan got more rings and more scoring titles and that's what fans want to see.  I'd also rather watch tapes of Air Jordan's highlights over LeBron's any day of the week.  Jordan existed in the era right before social media and didn't share his opinions on things so he was almost mysterious to most people.  Like a figure that you got to see on the court but that's it.  Even today he's not your typical celebrity...  LeBron on the other hand likes to share his opinions and have his life accessible to people, so I think he seems less mythical than Jordan.

Nets are going to be hosting Jazz home tonight. And I see that bookmakers are favouring Jazz to win this game. But it is a slight odd difference between them too as Nets are in a great shape as well. They have started to play stronger recently and they are getting the products of their efforts for sure. Especially Irving has done an incredible work recently. For example, the game that he scored 60 points in was unbelievable. It was career-high points for him. I'm still waiting for him to start playing in home games too. Then, they can be awesome as before.

Hmm... look, I believe that this difference is also related to the change in difficulties and in the styles that each player is.

The NBA in the past (70's, 80's, 90's) is totally different from the NBA we see today.

There are different styles of games, different difficulty levels among other attributes.
They were very fierce games and competitions and for me, the level of the players of the past, were superior to the players of today.

It's very different because the NBA now is becoming soft, players could easily make flop just to get a foul... before it's not a technique because it's a bad one. Before the game are very physical, that's why it's more exciting because we would mostly see players driving the ball to the ring.

I don't know yet, but for LeBron James to become the GOAT, he needs to have an extremely bigger impact on the team than Jordan had on the Chicago Bulls when he was in his prime.

Lebron is only good in numbers but as to impact, he cannot surpass Jordan's impact, or even Kobe.

Yes, I also agree with that, our current era of the NBA I confess that it is more "soft" compared to the seasons of the 80's or 90's.
Exactly, you said the perfect word, IMPACT... I also believe Jordan has more impact for the Bulls than when LeBron was in Cleveland or the Heat (in his prime).
I imagine that for LJ to be able to become a GOAT and pass MJ, he needs to prove he's worthy by carrying the Lakers or maybe the Cavs to the NBA Finals, overtake Abdul Jabbar in more points scored, and win some more MVP awards. and FMVP.

In the current situation in the NBA these days, I believe that is possible, but he will have to work hard to prove he is worthy of it.

That's why right there because kyrie is out.  The Jazz are a top team and will be real difficult for the Nets to handle without kyrie.  I wouldn't touch this game could go either way here.  Should be a good one though

That was totally BS just because his team is struggling. And in the first place, there's no such thing as celebration just because of that milestone. Let's put it this way, more of appreciation as that was a success. It's like there's no room for that just because he can't carry the Lakers or in general the whole team is struggling? He's not the one to blame for why the Lakers are struggling in the first place. They are around 15 players on their roster. What are the other 14 doing?

Playing in his 19th season, roughly 47 years, putting 30 PPG, and still the top scorer of a team isn't an easy thing to do. It takes a heavy toll on his body.

There's no other player now that can even make it to the Top 5 on the list for at least 5 seasons I'm sure of that. Not possible for Melo and Durant is the next one that still actively playing and he's on the 23rd on the All-Time scoring list.

Their win today is crucial because they were getting closer to the play-in tournament where you need to play against teams that turn the table around and steal your spot in the NBA playoffs. I am expecting them to stay on that spot if they continue to play hard and win some crucial games before the playoff. They cannot increase any further because the teams above them have some high rates of winning and might give them a hard battle in the NBA playoffs.

Very true. It's now or never. Even at play in tournament the other teams will give them a lot of trouble and they need 2 wins if they want to be part of the eight. If Spurs keeps on winning they might be in a bigger trouble because that is the 11th seed which means they are out.
Let's say they will stay at 10th. They win against the Pelicans but the bigger wall will be there. Either the Nuggets, Timberwolves or the Clippers preventing them to move forward.
I don't expect too much with the Lakers anymore. I may have also given up with the expectation of a big come back 20 games ago.

As a team, the Lakers are flat.

The fact that the bulk of their team is extremely old means that the team is not driven mentally to comeback - as there is nothing else to prove. Obviously, physically these people aren't in their peak condition either.

It would be interesting to see how the offseason goes for the Lakers. AD may well leave in pursuit of a better destination.

The fact that most of these guys were veterans, they'll alwats get behind the transition. Even LeBron had a bad transition defense or offense.
AD's health condition is hopeless, his value may come down huge due to his frequent injury not just this season, but his whole NBA career was barrage with injuries.

I'm kinda excited to see what would the Lakers adjustments next season. They should start scouting for promising young talents than stacking more veterans.

I watched DeRozan on how he defends as much as my eyes can and all I see is a man who has a goal to win. He is not just an offensive weapon anymore and I bet he learned a lot of putting defensive efforts in San Antonio Spurs for 3 years.
His perimeter shots are petrifying and I like that he remain fix on doing that instead of forcing threes which many player does. He should keep that because he is really good at it.

I was about to say that, he I reckon that he learned a lot from coach Pop, being a good defensive individual is a sign that you reach your peak as an player.

His mid-jump shot are one of the most beautiful thing to see whenever he plays. He knows where and when to shot, pump fakes his guard and sometimes he got a foul and 3 point play. So this win put them on track and which just a couple of games in the regular season, they still have to make some wins and carry this momentum to the playoffs.

There's no signal yet if they are safe to just calm things down and control their minutes. With the Raptors trying to win every game they can to avoid the play in, they cannot just sit down and be at a tiebreaker. Next to them is Cleveland who had been playing in great chemistry with Garland leading them and those guys will try to overtake them and be on a safer spot.
Let's not forget the Nets who is on the 8th spot with Durant forcing every win. 10 more games and there's still a chance.
