It's obvious that the Celtics doesn't want to lose Jaylen Brown in the free market so they want to make sure that they will kept him in the last 5 years or so and they are willing to take that risk in the huge contract.

Not sure about it but just a guess of mine, Celtics might have been influenced by that decision, by who knows something a reputable person, or maybe Jayson Tatum itself. I don't consider the reason that Celtics don't want to lose Jaylen Brown where in fact, they seem to be urged at trading him. Remember back during the hot trend of Kevin Durant wanting out of the Brooklyn Nets, Brown was considered as a trading piece in exchange for Durant.

It's that a month ago when Celtics now change their future goals with Jaylen Brown and decided to offer a max contract extension to keep him on the team as he's eligible for it. Personally, for me, that was a good decision for the Celtics but offering Brown a max extension means the team has no more plans to add another Superstar caliber on the roster as Tatum is also under a huge contract and aside from that, it was expected that he will also get the same huge contract if he won't decline his player option on his final seasons with the current contract.

Many are optimistic with the new roster of the Phoenix Suns but I have this feeling that it won't be successful. We will see.
Me neither, if they can set back their superiority, they could blend well but if not, then I can see they will change a team again after or before their contract expires. That is the problem of a so-called super team and the cons of stacking-up superstars in one team thinking it's a good idea. Not realizing, not all superstars can give way.
That's why I admiring more now those teams that has a stack of players that aren't part of any superior team but they've been in the developing process.

We've seen this with the Denver Nuggets and we all have the seen that it's very possible to have a strong team and not having with a superstar players.

The chemistry and experience that these players got is way beyond the idea of having a superstar as they've got their own superstar in the making. I have also seen this with the Bucks as Giannis as their own stack and developed player that later on became a superstar.

Yeah, but still inflation over 13 years doesn't increase the value by around 1000%.

The amounts franchises get sold for these days are crazy. MJ made a great deal, even if he never had any success and pretty much ran down the team with bad draft choices and trade decisions.

Still, he got a big payday, as usual. Let's see if the new owners can finally do something with what they have on hand. There is talent in the team, it just has to be unleashed.

Well, they can get it back if the duo of Miller and Ball will click. We might see a lot of highlights that will happen on that team and that means more viewers and ticket sales plus memorabilia.
But yes, the price inflated like that for just 10 years. Michael Jordan did a great job of picking a business that would make him profits in the future.
Today, Charlotte Hornets is not a dead team. They have players that are entertaining to watch especially LaMelo Ball which I think will be one of the best guards in the league someday. Another player who has a chance to break the triple-double record of WB. IMHO, he is like the new type of Jason Kidd in this era.

Ya, definitely not due to inflation, although I’m sure that does play a role it definitely doesn’t account for more than a doubling in price. I think the rest of the value increase is due to favorable deals with television broadcasting companies as well as a new league stance on gambling that I think will be the main driver in value expansion going forward.

And speaking of that, also one reason why we really can't compare era's. For sure if Jordan is playing in this generation as a Chicago Bulls, he could have been worth $100 million++ in this career.

So if ever Jaylen Brown makes $300 million in the next couple of years, we might see huge jump as high as $500 million. As long as franchise are willing to shell out this huge money in exchange of entertainment, and in the business side they are going to make money, then why not?

It's really undeniable that we can not compare the past to the players now because that will not end well, and what the players are worth now, and given that those players are still earning because of their sponsors is really something from this stand point the NBA now has a huge profit margin up to date and it is pretty much increasing over time,

For sure the tandem of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum is unmatchable when they are into it and they are still young and can still push to their potentials Jayson Tatum 25 years old, and Jaylen Brown 26 years old the Celtics can not go wrong with their decision and both these two players are coplimenting their skills for me they are a tandem on the court that will surely make an incredible play when they are on to it, there are just many lapses in  the previous season that they need to be fixed and mostly they also have injuries that is really inevitable for the NBA they just need to improve their other players so they could have some worthy bench players

The NBA's board of governors approved the sale of the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin.
Michael Jordan sold the Charlotte Hornets for approximately $3 Billion. He bought it for $275 Million in 2010.

Good move by Jordan and that's why he has become one of the wealthiest former basketball because of this kind of investments he had years ago. But not really sure about the state of Hornets now, although they have good players, not sure if it can compete with the current NBA standards that we are seeing in today's game. Again, hard to compare him with WB as far as triple double, but there are games that we could see some brilliance or high basketball IQ of Ball. But I doubt that he will catch WB in the record boards.

They just need a floor general that willing to distribute them the ball and also a solid rebounder which also can do the dirty work for them and they became a solid team. So celtics management should develop their roster and find those people who's perfect fit for them so that they can perform very well. If they get serious injury then maybe this will be a deciding factor for Celtics to change their roster since this could change their performance and might ruin their potential to became a great player in their era.

Yup.

This was a news already a month or two ago but then that's official now if the boards have finally approved the sale of it. IIRC, it's not an entire sale and turnover because AFAIK MJ will still be left and have a small portion of it.

Anyway, this is one of the best investment that a person can ever have but it's on MJ. One of the GOAT and now turned into an entrepreneur and businessman, this is one of his greatest wins that none other NBA players haven't reached yet.

Great move by MJ; he was able to make a lot of money from his investment, and I'm sure he will not go poor with the fortune he has amassed. This is the kind of player who should be a good role model. After basketball, he focused on investment and used his finances to grow it even more. There might be some big changes now, and I hope the Charlotte Hornets will be able to become a playoff team.

Yeah, and that what really separates the GOAT from the rest of the players, current or past, with maybe a few exceptions. He knows how to invest, maybe he has a good financial adviser or it is really in him to create more money not just him playing and his signature Jordan shoes and his deal with Nike.

And it I'm not mistaken, in this generation, many are following in his footsteps to be entrepreneur inside and outside of the NBA. It might not be a NBA team, but at least in some areas any other form of investments to create generational wealth. Instead of those players who just throw their money and once their career is over, they don't even have money left in their bank account.

Wise decision for MJ, it's huge profits after some years of owning the franchise,

Now, he has the money and if I'm not sure he will still have some portion of this team, that will still give him decent
profits in case the new management will manage it to be a playoff contender.

A good role model indeed, he still winning even he's no longer around same fate with how he manages his share with
Nike, until now, he's still making money even he's no longer playing.

There are lots of NBA players who know how to manage their finances. These players understand that they cannot play forever, so they find other ways to earn money using the money they get from the NBA. Michael Jordan is just so blessed that he had a lot of big endorsements during his era, and until now, he is still making a lot of money from his brand Jordan Shoes, which provides him with another significant source of income.

Look at how much he has made so far.

I am not sure why there is this trend of retired great players having the comparison of their careers to the ones that have also retired. Like having a great player on their roster when they're in their prime. I am talking about Pierce talking about Wade he's saying he could do the same as Dwayne did and will probably have a better run because of having good teammates. I have no idea why there are beefs like this or it's just to make themselves relevant from the news we're having in the NBA. On the other hand, GSW is rumored trying to get Howard while him wants to go back in the Lakers.

That's just Paul Pierce being Paul Pierce. He's said a lot of stuff over the years but that's just what he thinks or believe. I wouldn't say it's a "beef". I guess it's in athletes' nature to be competitive in general even after their professional playing years.

I've seen this too. He'll probably get more playing time as a Warrior.

Well, LaMelo Ball is still young and there's already a lot of improvements in his skills. He became a team player which I don't really expect from him. I thought he will be like an isolation type of player but he proved me wrong. He could somehow facilitate a team and he is now one of my favorite players when it comes to watching assist highlights, of course next to Jokic's magical assists.  Cheesy
We will see. Brandon Miller looks like a promising player too but they need to build their chemistry first. They have a lot of years to play with each other so I think it will not be a problem for them, plus they are both young so they can understand each other.
I want to see if they will become the Hornets' face of the franchise duo, I wish so. Just like KD and WB back in the days in OKC.

This is not easy because even Michael Jordan cannot do it himself and he always messed it up when the players he choose ended up getting some worse injuries in the NBA which made them sidelined for months and changes the way they played when they get back. Unless they get lucky and get a player that will gonna bring the team to the championship because some players are not really good when playing in college league but they quickly adapt to the environment in the NBA and quickly became strong which will gonna make them easily win most of the games and suddenly find themselves in the NBA finals.

The NBA's board of governors approved the sale of the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin.
Michael Jordan sold the Charlotte Hornets for approximately $3 Billion. He bought it for $275 Million in 2010.

Not bad I would say. Michael Jordan himself already gained a lot of profits since he bought it way back 2010 for a much lower sum and then now another $3 Billion in sales after he sold the franchise towards the new owners. Apart from that, it's still a win-win situation for the G.O.A.T. himself because he will still be gaining profits if the franchise's worth will again grow in the next few years as apparently, he is still a minority stakeholder in the franchise.
