Ohh lala. Jalen Brunson may have something to do about this deal. 20 million per year, I don't think it's that high considering what he showcased after being traded to the New York Knicks.
10/7/3 and he makes the team look good with his capability for offensive rebounds to give way for a second chance to score. I am guessing he just needs to find his home and this could be it with his best buddy Jalen. We all saw how happy Jalen Brunson was after he saw his Villanova teammate being traded to the team. It's the face of knowing he will not have any problem with chemistry with their newly recruited player Josh Hart.
We will see though if it will be worth the price, with so much happening in the Knicks team, they may be the keys to getting near the championship.

I guess that $81M 4-year extension deal is already the new average contract for experienced but still relatively young players. If the "top" players contracts now are going over $50M a year then I guess it should be okay if the average also increase.

For a role player, that 4 year deal is not bad, knowing that there are always changes and you don't know what will be your fate with the team.

Like what you mentioned, the average of a top / star is ranging to $50M, so I guess that's better for
each role players to have that kind of deal, in terms of Josh Hart's performance last season, the Knicks
give him that decent minutes and he was able to convert it with decent stats.

And most likely it will be team that he will settle though. As far as I can remember, he had numerous teams in the past. Although he has been given good minutes playing, it as in the Knicks uniform that really blossom the career of Hart and perhaps he was just being rewarded by the team with that great contract for 4 years. But nevertheless, it's not a lock in, who knows, he could be traded. But the good thing is that he still has a team and it could really motivate him this season to improved as they got some players too.

That's my point. He's being classified as a role player and with that kind of deal, it's better than none, right?

He contributed last season, and he played well with Brunson and Randle, giving them aid both from defense and offense so
I think that's the possible reason why he got this contract, this kind of extensions secure his future as we really don't know

As I see it, there is only one reason why a player might leave the NBA to play in other leagues is the lack of demand for such a player by NBA teams. In Howard's case, he had multiple tryouts with different teams last off-season, and it looks like no one wanted him, even for the minimum salary. Personally, I think otherwise, and it seems to me that Howard can still play a couple more seasons in the NBA for the veteran minimum.

Exactly, it's not like he turned down $2mil in the NBA to play for a mil overseas.  Dude wants to keep playing professional ball and sometimes that means you have to bite the bullet and leave the league.  No doubt he would have taken a spot in the NBA if a team guaranteed him playing time.

On the other hand, I'm really curious on what would be the Denver Nuggets' next move after they let go of Bruce Brown, which I was really surprised of. I mean that guy was literally making huge impact on both ends of the floor. I don't know what they're thinking that's why I'm pretty curious about their next move.

IIRC it was Bruce that asked for that trade and that's typical when someone gets a ring then his value goes up, so that's probably where he is capitalized with and let the deal done.

Look, the Nuggets didn't care at all and just let the trade smoothly. As long as they've got Murray and Jokic, they're all good.

I think when he was with the Lakers, Lebron has a bunch of good 3 point shooters. And even after they have traded most of the championship rosters they have in 2019, they still keep that blue print. However, those outside shooters and defenders didn't click with them and so they have to rebuild everything starting last year with their new coach. And now it seems their focus is trying to get help on AD, that's why they got Hayes or even trying to give Christian Wood a try, if I read it correctly.

The Lakers had their best roster when they secured a championship. Regrettably, they had to disband that team and bring in new players for assistance. However, the new lineup hasn't been able to match the previous team's performance. My honest answer for that one is because he only wanted to play in the Lakers at that time that is why he opted to play overseas so that he will not get to a team where he can make those moneys yet he cannot be a champion. It may sound that it does not make any sense but that is somehow reasonable if at his age, he only wanted to play in a team where chances to win a championship are above decent and with a LeBron James in the very sane roster, that makes the goal more possible.

Agree, this is one tough dude that helps Knicks down the stretch, his defense and then he gives some offense too. Yeah, it seems that the Knicks is building up the Villanova team with the acquisition of Donte.

Randle though needs to step up man, now it seems that Jalen Brunson is their leader when supposedly Randle who previously had that title. But his game is slowly deteriorating in the last 2 years and I wouldn't be surprised if his name will be in the trading block next season if he continue to have a dismay performance this year.

Well, for the Los Angeles Lakers, it surely revolves around Lebron James that is why the Lakes have picked the young able to help Lebron make a point and get into the championship, but surely if he and Anthony Davis can not stay healthy why build a team that only revolves around your main guy if you can surely make a team that could last without your main players, I really think it could be viable that way for the Lakers and because we all know how consistent Anthony Davis and Lebron James would be on the injured list for sure,

That's a tough call, the Knicks just traded out one of theor only other true power forwards in obi toppin this offseason.  If the Knicks don't get an equal or better pf back in any deal with Randle then they can't do it.  Essentially they went all in on Randle this year by getting rid of toppin.  Hopefully the vote of confidence in him by upper management gets him in the right head space this year.

That's what Auston Reaves is lacking, experience. He is a good player in my opinion and just needs some polishing in his skills. He can shoot, protect the ball, make a play, and attack with that middle perimeter shot which I think will be his signature.
The Lakers should keep him longer and he might become their best point guard that could lead the team if ever a time comes that Lebron will retire.

True. But most of the players in that bubble were 1-year contract players. McGee, Dwight, and more. I was quite shocked they didn't renew Dwight's contract because he did great that year. Perhaps, another thing may have happened in the locker room, or was it because he and AD were not getting along well?
Sadly, after that, their last long run was this last season and it's too obvious they lack the defensive power beneath the rim. Davis cannot do it all or it will exhaust him and limit him to just do defense instead of being a threat in the offensive end.

They need to work that out because Hayes is not that well experienced when it comes to defending the paint and its rim, yes he got the size and height but that will not be enough if he cannot secure their defense properly and AD will be forced to work that out again leaving Lebron instead of having the freedom to chase anyone and contribute to the team's offense being a PF.

Obi Toppin, although there are a lot of hype around him and seems to be a decent player, he hasn't got the rotation and the minutes that he has deserved and so I'm not surprised why he was traded. Although you can see that he has bounds and a offensive player if given quality minutes to play.

He needs to be consistent and average like 25 ppg, just like a couple of seasons ago wherein they are a huge underdog but keeps winning because of their never say die attitude.

For sure the Lakers would be a better team next season, they have shown it in the recent season, that they can surely have a better form with the young guns that they acquired now to help in making Lebron James a bigger player again, for sure most of the Lakers would like to do it, and can do it and with the referee on the Lakers side they can take on any teams in the NBA, Just kidding but for sure if they likely enhanced their chemistry because we all know that most players are new and this is their 1st season to get their full season, lets just wait it is really exciting if what we can see next season,

That's a tough call, the Knicks just traded out one of theor only other true power forwards in obi toppin this offseason.  If the Knicks don't get an equal or better pf back in any deal with Randle then they can't do it.  Essentially they went all in on Randle this year by getting rid of toppin.  Hopefully the vote of confidence in him by upper management gets him in the right head space this year. 

It was just sad that the New York Knicks just let go of Obi Toppin like that for sure Julius Randle will need to regain his natural position again, and not just setting fire on the 3 pointer, which is for me he is just not cut to be like that but maybe if he can train more he could be like Stephen Curry, how I wish,

Ausin Reaves is still a dark horse and not was, especially now that he a gained a lot more experience and confidence during the last run that will definitely give the team a nice color when they play again. That goes to Rui Hachimura and D'Angelo Russell as well.

Regarding to your question mate, when the Lakers won the 2020 championship, the team's value has increased and so does the players of the said team, now the unfortunate thing about that was at that time, they have a lot of players who are already nearing the end of their contracts and the Lakers doesn't have that much option to sign them all with an extension, hence why it dissolved right away after winning a chip.

For sure there are many roockie that gained experience and confidence and now that they experience playing at the play-offs that will be a very good experience for them for sure so next season will be a different one for them actually I am really excited in the next season if what kind of diamond we can likely see in the next season, there are many rookies in this season that like can be a different monster this upcoming season,

Now it's a different ball club, as what we have said, it's only Lebron and Anthony Davis that is left from the championship squad. Nevertheless, the team right now looks solid and they have gotten over the drama on Westbrook.

I hope the Lakers' management learned a lesson from the Westbrook drama and won't experiment like this in the future. Ideally, they should have gotten rid of Westbrook before the 20/21 season deadline, as it was already clear after the first half of that season that he wasn't a good fit for them because of his specific style of play and lack of chemistry.
