I don't think anyone ever thought Bitcoin would be the end-all of crypto. It will fill a role until something better comes along - when that happens, we'll see a massive shift into the new currency.
Given how dysfunctional the BTC source code update process is right now, that MIGHT BE SOON.
Etherium seems to be gaining traction and now has a substantial chunk of market share...

I think it would be worse without altcoins.
For example, if you create some altcoins, introduced significant innovations in the source code of Bitcoin. For example Darkcoin, hopes obsepechit platform technology is completely anonymous bitcoin transactions. Bitshares positioning itself as the electronic version of Wall Street, Ripple - provides a simple currency payments, etc.
In addition altcoins help developers to experiment with unique characteristics. Although Bitcoin can copy any innovation, if the community so desires and developers fully functioning altcoins. It is much better laboratory for Bitcoins than test the Bitcoin network, since altcoins have a certain monetary value, in contrast to a test network.

Well, if there are no altcoin, we can't make a comparison about bitcoin into alt coin, or alt coin into bitcoin. It's like compare the price for each coins and many things.

Altcoin really makes competition for Bitcoin. But only when it was relatively new. Now there is really no competition between Bitcoin and all the other altcoins.

i do not think that LTC has a big difference in bitcoin and i think that it makes no contributions whatever. I think bitcoin will survive without litecoin

altcoins are just some kind of competition for bitcoin, and they are all trying to become more popular to get closer to that first place as bitcoin is currently holding.
so far they have failed in reaching this goal.

Well most people buy altcoins with bitcoin, but I don't think it would influence the price too much.
And also most people who have altcoins always sell their altcoins into bitcoins. so this both coins really connected and altcoin always need bitcoin. Just on this you can't indicate both are interdependent. Its just a trading tactics which helps traders to get some additional profit. It is just a trading tactics but it connect each others. altcoin users need bitcoin to do trade. and bitcoin users need altcoins to do trade. and they need each other in many other ways also. so bitcoin without altcoin may exist but not like today. today bitcoin is highest ranked crypto currency I think because of altcoins..

Most altcoins cause a negative effect on bitcoin letting it's value drop. I personally don't use altcoins much.

BTC presented an opportunity for a lot of other alt coins. Many a thousand have folded, some in a flash, some lasting a bit longer. These altcoins also give an opportunity to traders to get quick profits.

I agree. Altcoins are just, somehow, replicas of bitcoins. Bitcoin without altcoins would definitely cause a change, but nowhere near enough for people to cause panic. Bitcoin will survive even without altcoins at its current popularity and adoption. People will still continue to use bitcoin.

Well some people went rich with bitcoin as were the only crypto project being done and no other, from bitcoin others people take a part and tryed to improve and work on their personal coins ,some still alive for a long with a low cost, doge its a altcoin that allow anyone to make some easy money ,now the altcoin with a lot attencion and investment is the eth that jumped from the 200k to 2000k and looks to become stable and testing the limits already.Soo in my vision altcoin hadnt damage bitcoin as some offers others services, and can allow anyone to get rich or make a huge income something that at bitcoin is getting hard day by day.

Everything is slowly dying without competing with smth. Bitcoin need altcoin and it's not about programming stuff, it's about trading and price.

The bitcoin without the altcoins would not be good a tall if you ask me, I even think it would be bad for the whole bitcoin market. We could not also trade anymore with nice profits...

Yeah altcoin helping people to earned bitcoin, by mining, trading or someting else, as you mentioned above i might agree with you, even altcoin like etherum with lot of attencion, i doubt that it will compete with bitcoin, actually they support each other, altcoin make bitcoin more powerfull

Without altcoin, I will own very little bitcoin. I buy bitcoin buy selling altcoin. I get the altcoin by mining them.
yeah altcoin now a way to get bitcoin. because altcoin maybe more easier to earn rather than getting bitcoin ? so there may be many people focus on the trade altcoin ?

One or two complementary coins might be good, like doge, ltc, Dash, but there are waaaaay too many. And bitcoin itself could exist just fine without any of the alternatives. I think there definitely should be others. When that confirmation time slowdown happened last year, all of the other coins could be sent much faster.

I disagree. Some of the other networks are way more practical for higher volumes of transactions than btc, such as doge and ltc. Now that the world is aware of the efficiency of value transfer via blockchain, you have to offer a few different flavors or everyone will get bored
