OK folks, we have a working testnet finally, That will allow us to more thoroughly test updates ahead of time, but we will need the help of the community. If you are able to fire up a wallet on testnet get addresses to us and we will throw some coins your way. We need stakers, masternodes, people mixing, etc. to fully test things.

You can run the testnet along side your primary wallet, they will not conflict with each other. There is no need to specify a data directory, it will create a subfolder in the default data directory and the chain, wallet, etc. will be there. The only shared file will be the darknet.conf.

if you have an (idiot proved) mac guide for this
i consider  Wink

You just start the wallet with the --testnet flag. So, for the qt, ./darknet-qt --testnet

Edit: There may be a slightly different syntax for starting programs on Mac than Linux, let me yell to s3v3n, he is the Mac guy.

tx for the "yell" at s3v3n
as well how do i run 2nd wallet on 1 computer (1 testnet - 1 real)

Yeah, so it is really that simple. Open a terminal, cd to the directory where your binary is and enter "darknet-qt --testnet". It will automatically create a subdirectory in your data directory for the testnet stuffs. You will need some addnodes in the darknet.conf, the testnet and mainnet share the same darknet.conf. The 2 wallets will have no problems running at the same time as they use different ports.

Right now these are the current addnodes for testnet:
addnode=173.245.158.8:51474
addnode=68.108.10.35:51474
addnode=2qvm3datgwvjz2h5.onion:51474
addnode=5jdzosvcuxj6yfgc.onion:51474
addnode=pzgvmwwve2l7763v.onion:51474

Yes, we have some tor testnet wallets running already, more on tor than clearnet.

As more folks start running testnet wallets please share the ips and we will keep an updated list. I will add some hardcoded nodes to testnet in a future release.

ok
Test Wallet up and running
(so proud of myself)
- Syncing Sporks - super slow 1/5 in and seems stuck

"please share the ips"
what is ips ?

get me some tcoins please
yD4ncrGqBxMXSbGzEkThp6rb7ZYfuPwJnv

is there a testgroup or something ? or you give further instructions here ?

I cant get masternode started with new version 2.1.3

Windows standalone MN on Windows 7 64bit.

"Not capable masternode: Could not connect to xx.xx.xxx.xx:51472"
Fully connected with other peers both In and Out.

Switching back to version 2.1.2.3 and masternode starts without issue:
"Masternode successfully started"

Didnt have this issue with the previos upgrades

same message for me, we are still on testnet yeah ?  probably why message above, putting testnet=true in config.. verifying if this is why

putting testnet=1 in the config results..

Error: Invalid masternodeprivkey. Please see documenation.

devs.. we are both receiving "Could not connect" with 2.1.3 .. we should hold off master nodes deployment ? thanks!

My staked blocks per day has decrease a lot since the update, from 10 per day to only 2 or 3. Are other people already updated noticing this or is only a (bad) probability matter??

Salute

Wow.....sudden rush of upcoming anon coins (Komodo, CredaCash, Byteball etc). I expect more once Zcash goes live.

I hope DNET survives all this competition.

BTW, there isn't much discussion here about DNET's approach to anon transactions.

if I thought it wouldn't I would sold it to the gent above for 2.5K USD $ and buy ICO of one of the above  Cool there is no hype here, steady, around 170 K +/- cap , solid base, 2 devs versed in C++ and a dude from the "famous BTC pizza " amongst fans

ok! 70th master node has been activated

from this thread, there is an indication that devs are deep thinking about it, and in fact there was some discussion already , ie idea that zcash might not be that secure after all due to researchers involved with it and their connection to gov crypto labs..  in fact they very likely are. if u trace "team" and connection of Universities were they are at.. and various sponsored programs..

for me idea of mixing is a powerful on and very likely will stay , I look at dash price and it is very high and stable so people there think that too, cryptonote algo also uses mixing and has been accepted to the deep-web and these folks don't take any chances..

I say lets allow devs continue their full time work (which they have as software engineers very likely judging from their git commits) and let them in peace and quite introduce what they think (and we also have voting system).. rest unfort would be hype

but yeah.. this coin is very much about anon and legal transactions. and that is big

meantime also u have various hackers trying to "break" our network.. by patching client causing some chaos.. but no coins were lost and we are back on a stable platform

All I know is that it is unique and doesn't rely on the existing obfuscation method although it could be used in conjunction.
Also, apparently the transaction will be very quick and it will be used as the default method for all DNET transactions.
Devs are writing up a white paper for it so I don't think it's too far off but like anything in life, that could change. Tongue

Detailed white paper would be nice!

Zcash transactions still take too much time........so speed will be one of the main areas where all anon coins will compete.

Quote
The current alpha code that we have running on a testnet ‒ it takes like about a minute or two of CPU time to generate a new privacy-preserving spend and only like a few milliseconds, I think, to verify. The latter part is for the good for performance, and that’s really important because all the full nodes and the miners have to be doing verifications all the time. The former part is pretty bad because it takes a whole minute or two on like a high-powered, supercomputer 64-bit laptop CPU.

do i get any tDNet ?
yD4ncrGqBxMXSbGzEkThp6rb7ZYfuPwJnv

Reg Anon...
we all know that it takes more than being "just" anon these days in the markets
(look at dash - full packadge) - monero does not count i think - just a pump with D Net Markets - give it some month and it will be all back to 'normal'

so DNet could have that packadge too - as voting is in here too and all other Dash features
mixing work but way too slow - this has to speed up and work solid as a 1st step
ZCoin and Cash .... their tech might work but their 20% funding from blockchain straight to the company will give them a tail of greef , incl Legal Problems in the long run + who in a clear mind would support that . the markets (as crazy as they are) will propably jump on it and the initial pump will 'pump' but for the long run .... good luck to them
i think the 1st or 2nd fork of that should be more interesting when the 20% funding issue is solved  Wink

Updated MN's running and 1st payments coming
