they are a market place and not an exchange which makes the main difference to Bitcoin-central.

http://www.techienews.co.uk/971487/bitcoin-central-exchange-reopens-after-6-months-hiatus/ - that is a reason to re-open the thread.

That's right. Bitcoin-central is a bitcoin exchange marketplace where funds (euros) are deposited to a regulated payment account while bitcoin.de is what is usually referred to as an OTC marketplace.
The main difference is that whenever a trade is executed on bitcoin-central, the fiat currency balance of the seller is credited immediately with the proceeds and the bitcoins are delivered to the buyer.
Conversely, with an OTC mecanism, both the buyer and the seller must wait for the buyer's fiat currency amount to reach the seller's bank account. Meanwhile the bitcoins of the OTC seller are tied up.

Haven´t looked into this thread for a while...
I just changed exchange to trading marketplace because one complained and I was in hurry.
But seriously for me it´s an exchange you can buy with money Bitcoins and vice versa (sell btc and get money). What is not an exchange there?

We'll have a look at the dates thing, regarding verifications you're right, 10 days is way too long, we're working with our partner to improve the speed and communication around the process.

I find it odd that there is no mention of the fact that EUR withdrawals are not yet possible. Support ticket was answered with:

"The withdraw functionnality is about to be deployed very soon. You will be notified as soon as it becomes available. Thanks very much for your patience."

I would have preferred to know this in advance, and not find out about it by trying to withdraw.

@Draradech: Are you already fully verified?
However, given their list of successes, they can afford minor hick-ups Smiley

The delay is unexpected as it is not entirely dependent on bitcoin-central but also on the integration with its banking partner. However I grant you that the communication on the matter could have been better.

Imho they should have stayed in a closed beta for a month,
instead taking a potentially final reputation hit. Maybe this
would still be a good choice, as long as the volume is that
low?

Heh.  "It's always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.", we say.  This would hardly be the first communications 'failure' from either Bitcoin-Central or from almost anyone else trying to run a business in the Bitcoin ecosystem for that matter.

I've learned to expect the absolute worst-case scenario when operating in Bitcoin-land.  If some business leaves any aspects of their operation nebulous, you can bet that it is purposeful.

In fairness though, it's not like Bitcoin related ventures have a monopoly on sliminess.  The kind of penny-ante shit pulled by giant mega-corporations (like my cell phone provider Verizon) is stunning.

The withdraw functionnality was deployed tonight. Both fiat currency and bitcoin withdrawals are available now.

Ouch. I thought everyone was re-imbursed in full.
However, I really thought that the 'come-out-of-a-crisis-stronger' theme could apply,
but my latest experiences make me doubt this.

Good luck BC.

What do you mean "from before" ? Withdraw requests have been processed all along, only trading was suspended until the new version.

If that were true, you would simply PM me with your account number to try and get that resolved. Why would BC hold on to your money that is a liability in their books? The customers funds are seggregated from the company's funds by their banking partnership.

Does Bitcoin-Central have any plans to include their trading statistics with Bitcoincharts? If so, when is it expected to be the case?

We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Yes. When we're done fixing the issues with verification.

You have not even channeled a single test-customer through
your verification pipeline in order to anticipate possible problems.

Bitcoin - I love you.

Hi Davout, thanks for responding to all these questions. And good to hear you're back in business.

While you're fixing the verification issues, please also fix the "additional documents" needed. I've already uploaded a copy of my passport and proof of residence, yet your site requests a second ID *and* a bank statement.

This is not KYC/AML, this is ludicrous.

For me personally, uploading ID and proof of residence is the max of what you can expect a customer to provide. Maybe a one time payment from my IBAN to verify the account name corresponds with the submitted ID.

Please review your verification policy, if you expect to get a 24-hour volume above the current 31 XBT ;-)

Kind regards, Robert
