The interest mechanic in HODL shouldn't be labeled "Proof of..." because it isn't a proof method for securing the network at all. It is simply an interest payout after periods of time and in itself will not generate blocks.

Yes thank you for making that clarification.. Proof of Hodled is more just for fun.. It's why I said "for the time being"

Ok guys a little bit of help for a newbe POW miner. The first 3 days I got one block per day using just the click menu mine icon. The 4 th day was the 17th I got two blocks. Since then I got nothing. I have tried to use some of the different switches posted in the thread. not been able to mine a block in about two days. I have a AMD FX 8350  4ghz 8 core 16 gb mem. Can someone who understands this a little better please pick the appropriate switches for my computer and I will try them next.  Thank you guys in advance for any help you can give me. Fish
I'm using this : -gen=1 -minermemory=2 -genproclimit=4 ( that's work very well for me) 3-4-5 blocks/day ( I have the same CPU)
Thanks for your help Im going to run this one. seems like your doing great at 3 to 4 per day.
I got one last night. Yippe Are you guys running any other wallets? I have two other POS wallets going taking some of my hash. Wondering if I should shut down everything else. I remember back in the old days you could boot a computer with a bat file and a disk to run a game or whatever without running a operating platform other than DOS. Has anyone tried anything crazy like this. would this even work?

My concern is what happens when all this HODL matures at the same time? I've been down a similar road once with Paycoin where all of us received our initial stake at once and the market was flooded like the Strait of Gibraltar.

So you can Hodl for any time period between 2 days and 1 year. We are already seeing a nice distribution over time for maturing coins. This smooth distribution should become more pronounced as more information becomes available on when coins are maturing, so users can choose dates when relatively few other coins mature. We're not there yet with the block explorers though.

Definitely should make this a GPU mineable coin if possible.

It's just that the fun to mine isn't really there anymore when the difficulty gets this high.

Well right now we are forced on a standalone CPU miner
