What if the devs decided to discontinue HODLcoin development, what happens to the coins being "hodl'ed"?
Any assurance that HODLcoin would still exist after every year?

regarding your first question: then the network continues on as-is, as long as there are active peers and miners.

regarding your second question: its kind of a silly question really. since the network isn't controlled by any one entity exclusively. the network can "exist" with as little as one accessible node.

I feel like your questions are more about if you'll be able to sell mined coins year after year, in which case I'd have to refer you to the exchanges as they all have their own set of rules for continued listing (some known, some not), and I doubt any of them can guarantee that any of their supported coins will be available year after year.

Got your point there. Thanks for the clarification.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Hi guys,

I've a question that might sound stupid but, since new mined blocks have to be hodl for 1 year, does that mean we can't deposit it to have interest during this time ? :/

its deposited for you automatically. when the block reaches it's deposit maturity, you will get the original 50 HODL, plus the accrued interest from the 1-year term deposit. length

Oh yeah, I received my first 50 hodl's and seems like you're right Smiley thank you for the explanation.

Thanks for clearing this up I also had the same question about mining. It doesn't make sense and is unfair if it didn't deposit. I'm glad that is the case for miners. Though when I mined I waited very long and got nothing expect a few times I got like 0.something but I'm unsure if that was from mining or something else. Is there a mining pool for hodl ? I just used the wallets inbuilt solo miner.

Download a miner from link and set up a .bat file according to instruction, which you can find there. Cheers!

Thank you ! Can I mine with GPU or only CPU ! I assume my username must be my address and password anything. I reach a min of 50 hodl then it gets sent to my address for deposit and after a year it is available, is this correct ?

there are only CPU miners available right now. Yes the username must be a valid HODL address, password is just 'x'. When your balance reaches 50, your address will be put in the queue for inclusion in a mined block. Addresses are included in a mined block based on the highest available balance on the pool, so while you become eligible when you reach 50, if anyone has a balance greater than yours they will be ahead of you in the queue.

I try to set up for solo mining and us with hodlminer-optimized ..
But I get a internal server error:

[2016-09-01 12:00:29] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 500 Internal Server Error
[2016-09-01 12:00:29] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

My config is like this:

Code:
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=user1234
rpcbind=192.168.xx.33
rpcport=9578
server=1
daemon=1

When I open it in the browser it ask for password and after login there is just this error:
{"result":null,"error":{"code":-32700,"message":"Parse error"},"id":null}

it also seem to ignore the bind to the IP.

What processor do you have? On an Intel i7 I get about 1.7x higher H/s on Wolf's optiminer as compared to the wallet miner. But the optiminer only works with the pool and has a 1% fee.

I'm using a Xeon E5-1650V3 and i tsted all miners and the hodl-optimized miner gaves me about 100h/s more than the others.
Thats why i wanted to mine solo and using this instead of the in-client miner which just gives 200h/s :-( crap

Thank you it is working. It won't work on my other PC. Do I need to have the wallet on the PC too ?

Thank you. I'm busy mining a bit here for the investment, I really like hodl and already have a few one year investments.

The optiminer ONLY works with the mining pool. You have to edit the batch file and put your HODL address. You can check here:

Anyone knows what happened to the hodl pool hodl.optiminer.pl it just gives (boo) and errors.
I tried on many machines and from different ISP but always the same.

Also the pool rate dropped drastically since hours - since it started.

Same problem here.

Network difficulty dropped to 0.00036253.
While optiminer pool is down, I think it would be a good idea to switch to wallet miner.

There are currently problems with shares of a user submitted to the pool that get accepted despite being invalid. Still looking into it but banning that users seems to have restored normality for now.

Please only use the the official optiminer binaries when mining against the pool.
