Of course it is, duh

just like any other technology that is usefull, it is also being used.  apple iphones are being used, HP Laptops are being used, email and the internet are being used.  all by criminals...... whats your point?

the fact that the news constantly go on about this should tell you something about bitcoin, they dont like it because it is a game changer...... Grin

that the media is reporting about bitcoin in a bad manner is one thing, but people believing this nonsense is from a completely different level. people shouldn't believe it. if they took the effort to do some research about what the media is saying themselves, then they would know that the media is wrong in the way that bitcoin is not what they say it to be.
Media always projecting negative things of bitcoin more significantly than any positive news. But people will understand and will ignore the wrong news always. Media just need TRP ratings, but their attempt to gain it in wrong way will not last for long. Bitcoin is similar to USD, it has nothing to do with being used for illegal activities.

True. but media will always put bad name to bitcoin and that stops new users to come to bitcoin as some point. In their mind, bitcoin is the culprit and thus the reason why illegal activities succeeded due to its anonymity when it fact its not anonymous at all.
That's how media do, they do not report the good benefits of bitcoin because they are getting paid by the crook politicians who have an interest of businesses that competes with bitcoin, if you are a smart person you would not believe easily on media rather you get your information in forums.

Honestly yes! But i never used it in illegal activities. In some point, it depends only your self if your going to used it in good or bad ways. People used it maybe in drugs and even in gambling. And i used bitcoin only in good purpose.
True.It depends on user how he uses it.If you have gun,you can either kill someone or use it for self defense.Gun should not be blamed for its usage.Similarly bitcoin is not bad but it can be used for bad purposes like other things

Bitcoin is a currency and therefore it's used for some illegal activities, I seen some people in the darkweb and most of the things there are illegal and they are using BTC so yes, but in the same time bitcoin is being used for many legitimate causes therefore it's not BTC fault at all that some people use it like that.

I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering

As much as possible let us use bitcoin for good  or legal matter so that everything we do in here will get in result for good in the end. Rather in illegal matter to use bitcoin.

Yes. The result for a better future. But most of them dont think that way. They are greedy and just want profit from bitcoin while it is still here and making a huge impact in society for its price. As it goes populated more illegal activities will surely happen.

Of-course yes. though it can be controlled and monitored. Sometimes it can go beyond being controlled with detriment to the society. It was reported to be in exchange in some latest crime in Germany but why would such a good resource be involve in dastard act.

Money is used for shady business as well, how does paying Iran to release Hostages not come off as dirty money?
You could turn a currency from nothing and it would have a dirty trail very soon because that is the nature of humans.
We are not all what we claim and what we claim is not always what you see!

Blaming bitcoin is a media smoke screen and should not be taken to seriously, most people that find their way here already realize this point.

When you are using bitcoin into something illegal the government will really pursue and hunt you even if we are using bitcoin, the system can be traceable and there are a lot of factors that they will do to trace you, remember you are messing with the government.

Governments can go do unspeakable things with themselves. They're the one using currencies (their own national currency as well as bitcoin, and whatever other asset or commodity they wish to trade) for illegal activities the most. Lets not kid ourselves that governments are anything benevolent, especially in the state that at least some of them are in.

now a lot of people who did not use bitcoin responsible for actions that are not commendable. they even commit a crime in order to get some money. I think it is a legal action and ought to be entered into the realm of law.
