Waves had tens of millions of dollars in market cap when it was still just an idea, that idea is slowly becoming a reality, and just like you wouldn't go to Disneyland before it was built unless you were an investor or part of the construction team, so too does Waves not have the attention or user base it will have once it is completed, until then enjoy the roller-coaster ride because this Matterhorn Mountain will become Space Mountain in no time.

WAVES itself was created through such a crowdfunding effort. Instead of seeking VC or private investment, WAVES aimed from the start to build a grassroots movement of users, testers and backers. Around 6000 people invested a total of about 30,000 bitcoins with a current value of over $16 million to fund development and marketing. 100 million WAVES tokens, the ‘fuel’ for the platform, were distributed to investors after the crowdfund.
