Ja, possibly the board failed QC a xx speed so maybe was binned as runnable at a lower speed.
I'm rather puzzled by the top heatsinks not being nicely (or at least better) aligned. Probably explains why some s7/9's are sirens and others not too bad.
You would think that they would be using a pick-and-place to put them on which should be very very repeatable or if being put on by hand (shudder) at least a frame of some sort to locate them and keep in place until the thermal epoxy hardens...
yeah they could be straighter. Okay a completely different problem. this 2 board miner is working fine but I fucked up the user name and or the password. So it is mining away on kano.is but I can not longer access it. I was trying to change the user name from root to a different user name. and I was trying to change the password. A long day and my mind is very stupid at the moment. So I now do not know: the user name I do not know the password and the little reset button does not seem to reset the miner. a little help to reset would be nice.

Seems like I should do that well at least it is mining on my pool of choice. Even If I can't reset it. this link may not work but I followed it and setting stay set https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/AntMiner%20S9%20Installation%20Guide.pdf

Hmm.. Looking at the s9 pic shown in the manual I see a BB in it. Does the batch 10 have a BeagleBone? My batch 11 don't. That said, bet that once again Bitmain may have f***ked up the reset like they did on the s3(?)...

Well like I said at least it has a pool setting that works.

I think with the s7 it is admin/admin (could well be wrong there). If SSH lets you in then it's a matter of will Bitmain's OS let you change & save the GUI access words. edit: Correction, M's Miner Monitor says SSH words for the s5 are root/root and I believe those worked on the s7's.

If you were, then this would be less painful because you'd still be able to change the pool at the proxy level. I've been using the Stratehm stratum-proxy on an RPi and am happy with it. Pointed my S9s at the proxy on a local IP and now I can manage them as a group. That said, I'm sure there must be a way to reset these newer models. Probably have to write them an email (they never answer support in my experience).

I have all my miners with a hosting company and work individually with my miners remotely through a vpn. Is there a dashboard that I can view my critical information without remoting onto each miner?

Probably have to write them an email (they never answer support in my experience). Yeah I am going to proxy them... Never did a proxy. I had the dead board but discovered that the solar array ip is hacked and Someone diverts hash away from kano.is to where ever. If I bring the miner here to my home behind two routers with different ip the miner gives me two good boards and spends power to mine two good boards. If I take miner to solar array I get credit for board but two board mine. this is a completely different issue with from the dead board... I have seen this issue with s-1 s-3 s-5 s-7 s-9. one board gets diverted. you pay power for two boards or three board depends on the miner. but the mining site gives you credit for one board less then you have. the cure is change your ip and change your password. SO the new miner had 1 dead board and then was mining withe two boards. After a while one board dropped from kano pool but the miner still pulled same power for two boards. I took the miner to my house different ip.. So I change the password and now can not sign into the miner. Or reset it. I am tired of fucking with it. It is mining. 2 boards work fine see below:

I thought this was a S9 thread
indeed it is just a power consumption discussion going on how much a s9 consumes a day.

Risking a smack, Bitmain's spec for the APW3-12-1600 PSU specifies output at
DC Voltage 12V Rated Current 133A Rated Power 1600W
If there is a DC supply capable of providing that, why can someone not just go DC/DC direct connection? i.e. battery/solar power without the conversion to AC and back again to DC thru a PSU? Just asking...
Direct dc is the current default supply in the industrial sector.(in india) Ac is the current default in residential .(in india) Also psu /ups and other equipment provide the conversion needed . But a battery and solar power will cost more to setup and maintain than a just normal psu.

It's an interesting subject, but probably worth its own thread. (Hint: we're off topic here). If there are examples of "home grown" DC setups running a miner, via topped up batteries? without current inversion, I'd be grateful if anyone could link to them.

Anyone here read Chinese? If so, are those hand written symbols on Phil's bad board readable?
In particular it would be interesting to know the meaning of the symbol that looks like a 4 with a line through it.
its "4" + a line, can't think of any Chinese word like this, the closest is 升/ 川/ 山。。。。。 there some marking on the little white sticker, but can' see clearly
