Anyone here read Chinese? If so, are those hand written symbols on Phil's bad board readable?
In particular it would be interesting to know the meaning of the symbol that looks like a 4 with a line through it.
its "4" + a line, can't think of any Chinese word like this, the closest is 升/ 川/ 山。。。。。 there some marking on the little white sticker, but can' see clearly looks to me like they simply crossed it out see full size https://i.imgur.com/w06pfQc.jpgWarm and fuzzy thought it may be a reject for 600m and dropped to 550m

Dear customer,
Your hash board was damaged physically before we received it. It may happened in transit. If you need the picture of the hash board, I can send it to you.
Yours respectfully, Quentin
Make sure I understand this correctly... Is Bitmain the one who sent this message to you today regarding a board you sent to them? If so, what good is a picture going to do for you?

Yes please do get the picture:). Be interested to see if it's the same board you sent in. Should be easy enough to tell for as shitty as these seem to be put together. Ie the heat sinks look like a kid put them on and if it's the case of human putting them on they will all be different. Please get the pic
BR
Edit it should be mandatory to open and inspect the miner prior to use. If the heat sinks aren't aligned properly you will have overheating but only on a few chips. Those chips burn up and bitmain Doesn't have to honor warranty. What a shit!

Based on bitmain installation guide: Chip max temp 115 Board max temp 80 So: The board max of 80 means shoot for under 75 The chip max of 115 means shoot for under 105

Please note: Bitmain is currently testing payments with Paypal. If you are using PayPal to pay for your order, please note the following before proceeding: 1.We only support Paypal to Paypal payments. You have to register with Paypal to be able to use this feature. 2.You can pay for only one order using PayPal. You can NOT pay for a second order using PayPal until Bitmain decides to expand the use of Paypal 3.The order can only contain 1 unit of the each product type. For example: The order CAN have 3 items in total: 1 AntRouter R1, 1 Antminer S7 and 1 PSU. The order can NOT have more than 1 AntRouter R1 or Antminer S7 or 1 PSU.

Based on bitmain installation guide: Chip max temp 115 Board max temp 80 So: The board max of 80 means shoot for under 75 The chip max of 115 means shoot for under 105 Probably true, but I wonder if 115C is just what silicon can safely handle. It reminds me of Spondoolies Sp20 where 115C "on chip" was fine, 120 yellow, 125 red and throttling begun (automatically).

Based on bitmain installation guide: Chip max temp 115 Board max temp 80 So: The board max of 80 means shoot for under 75 The chip max of 115 means shoot for under 105 Based on what I see for chip temps with a PCB temp around 70 I would think the chip would go much higher than 115 with the PCB at 80.

well ya....they wont risk paypal with their newest machines....they r just doin it to unload the massive amount of s7's they prob have sittin around. its too risky to accept paypal for their most expensive miners....what with chargebacks and all that mess. also i got s9's with both types of controllers. the older v1.8x controllers seem to have beaglebone cards but the v1.9x dont seem to have an addon controller so looks like some of my miners r old controllers. i also dont like the controller bouncin around like it does....it rattles more than the boards do. it might be a good idea to hit the 2 corners of the miner with a drop of hot glue so it stays planted in place because if the 2 rubber feet on the bottom slide out that controller will touch the metal case causing shorts. all thos extra work so they save 4 whole screws?? seems pretty dinky to me.... to those that want lower temps pm me and i can sell u some lets to stand ur miners up vertically....they run cooler that way.

Yeah, the rattling sound which comes from the boards being loosely attached almost made me shit my pants when I received my Ant S9 and carefully turned it around 360deg few times. It was kind of tricky to find out if there is any loose heat sinks before turning it on. Luckily my unit turned out too be a good one, at least so far. Sorry to hear about you guys' S9 problems though
