The problem with waiting a month to get your machine is that the first month is where you make the most back with this machine.  They know this. They have been playing us too long. Eventually people do wise up!

BR

You guys ascribe all these dastardly notions to bitmain like their entire business model is to be out to get you. It is such an ignorant viewpoint. Have you ever thought maybe they have a glut of machines to ship out and that is just how long it takes? If a company orders 1500 machines, guess what? Your 2 machines will get shipped out after. Not to mention the two week shutdown for chinese new years.  Its not like they dont give you the shipping date right on the order page. If you don't like it quit buying their product if all you are gonna do is bitch and whine about it on the forums. You all know what you are getting into. You all know the reliability issues. You all know the estimated shipping dates. If you cannot make an informed decision based on the available information it is nobody's fault but your own.

I don't believe Bitmain is evil or anything, they just want to maximize profits and I can understand that. But honestly, they just bumped the price on the S9 by the $150 or so due to an increase in BTC price. This is poor business ethics in my opinion, especially since they cannot predict if the price will drop. They have the right to do this, yes, but as soon as a viable competitor comes around you can guarantee that this dirty business practice will bite them in the ass. People don't forget this kind of BS.

That would matter if they actually depended on us to survive. Like most business. But they self mine. You've seen their mega farm right?  They only added 1.5 exahash and climbing. So yea they can do what they want sadly. And what is more sad is we all facilitated this.

BR

Hey all, does anyone know if you can use an S7 fan to replace a busted S9 fan? thanks in advance
Yes if you have a spare 4300 rpm fan, you can use that to replace the 4300rpm S9 fan (but not the 6000rpm one).

thanks for the response. Not sure which fan I have but it's a fan from the first batch of S7. Do you happen to know if that qualifies?

front or back fan ? I have loads of front fans, want to swap for some back fans. ( yes , I know extension cables exist, extra fluff, non ideal for bulk )

That would be a 4300rpm fan and you can use it to replace the rear fan of the Antminer S9 which is a 4300rpm fan as well.

The front fan in the S9 is 6000rpm, so if that is broken then you would need to buy a new one.

I think my complaint about bitmainwarranty was premature - I didn't factor in that they probably have chinese staff - and chinese new year

I'm pretty pleased with the service of Bitmain Warranty in Denver, CO.  Smiley
Even though the board they repaired for me didn't work properly after all (it keeps dropping to zero hash rate and shows a row of x's),
they handled fixing the situation very well.
They will send me a working hash board in exchange after I have sent (I just actually came back from the post office) the faulty board back for them.

I can definitely recommend them for fixing your miner.

And thank you Phil and the others who have shared previous experience with them.

They seem very slow to me, they have my S9 board since 18th Jan and still waiting for a quote

Bought a March 1 machine but received the "Order Picked" email today.  I am guessing they just printed labels.  But in my perfect world they ship early.

I know I read about another having this issue, but I cannot find the post for the life of me. Even Google search failed me.

So my ANTMINER S9-B13, 12.93 TH/s has one hash board showing 4x - 5x the hashrate of the other two. Floats between 16 to 20 TH/s. AwesomeMiner and the pool both show around 12.88 TH/s which is what it should produce.

Should I be expecting an impending failure in the future? As long as it is "working" do you think it is safe to let it run or would I be at risk for more damage this way?

Thanks in advance!

I received an email from BITMAIN telling me that they have additional inventory for their current products.  This is actually good news with the increase of value of BTC.

That would matter if they actually depended on us to survive. Like most business. But they self mine. You've seen their mega farm right?  They only added 1.5 exahash and climbing. So yea they can do what they want sadly. And what is more sad is we all facilitated this.

BR

Are you talking about the mythical 130mw datacenter there is only digital representations of? The one where they partnered with 5 other companies, only control 20% of the space, and dont actually have a million machines running because the facility isnt even completed?

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Almost every successful product based business grows this way.  If people did not buy Bitmain miners they would not have the money to innovate and bring out newer, faster, more efficient miners.  And you can replace the word miners with widgets and Bitmain with any company building cutting edge products.  Tesla has done the exact same thing as have 100's of brands we buy and use every day.
Bitmain has a lot of faults, like there deplorable repair system.  But it's a well run business in most respects.
