Hi,

I am waiting for my 2 S9s 21-31st January 2018, but I still have to order PSUs. My questions are next:

1. I see I can still order December batch of PSUs from Bitmain but wanna know if they actually arrive in December or what the deal ? Should I order January batch ?

2. Are there alternative PSUs available for purchase that are decent ? I know EVGA are the best but don't wanna spend that much on a PSU atm.

Thanks for answers

Order the December batch now. They are the cheapest and most efficient PSUs I can find. I ordered some for the December batch last month and I have them in hand now.

hello guys, I have two questions for you while I'm holding my BCH with finger on the trigger for a second order:

1 ) Huh have you noticed that the S9 is no longuer visible ( was sold out but visible intil recently ) in the Bitmain products page ? Is it something that ever happened ?

2 )  Embarrassedthe litminer L3+ prices have changed while they were available. Does it mean that they are ( were ) in dynamic relation  with the BCH change  instead of a fix Dollar price like it was for the S9 recent batch ?  Must we expect that it will be the same punishment when the S9 will be available too ?

thank you

EDIT : AAAAAnnnddd  my fears were justified...

They are capping at 20 per account.  And doubled prices at just under 2800.

They've just made the secondary market work.  At 4000 per miner on ebay or amazon, they have made this a no-brainer.  The folks that have stockpiled these devices are going to become the new primary market.

All while angering their customer base.  Certainly they are entitled to value price their offerings...but this will cost them trust.

I think this was a big mistake...the market will demand competition.  And people will have no loyalty to Bitmain....

I was planning on putting in a rather  large order S9's but given the price... I might have to wait and see what Avalon and Canaan is doing. Definitely not buying at this price from Bitmain.

My opinion is that they got overly excited because of the high demand the last few months- maybe the price will cool off the demand and they will come to their senses.

Why is there no manufacturer in US?:/ all of a sudden crowd funding looks like a good idea - God knows we have the brain power and resources - all we need is a good plan and financial backing.

Exactly.  The price increase doesnt add up.  At current profitability, for a Feb delivery, you're looking at an equivalent price of over $5000 per unboxed ebay/amazon s9 (if it can be shipped within 7 days).

If the ebay/amazon market doesnt overreact (lol) the current prices of 3.5k to 5k are all a steal.

It's all a semiconductor design challenge.  Crowdfunding might get a nice design, but you need Wafer Fabs to do this.  As for doing this in the US we left this business to Taiwan years ago.  They are better than we are at it - and will be for the foreseeable future.  The Chinese arent very good at it either...every S9 Bitmain chip, as far as I understand, comes from TSMC, which is based in Taiwan.

You don't think Avalon and Canaan will follow suit? Once they see Bitmain selling S9's for this price, they will know they can too. They are in this to make money just like anyone

Classic case of supply and demand now
there is so much of demand that they have doubled the cost

In the past I noticed that Bitmain - 'adjusts' its prices - if they notice that sales are not quite where they should be- they lower price . Hopefully people will hold-off on buying and that will happen this time also.

One S9  miner - in average will produce roughly ( on a larger pool ) 0.0026 BTC/ day - BTC is high now but there is not a guarantee that it will stay there. Any miner looking to actually profit will take into account the possibility that  BTC might go through a correction period, and might decide that 2725 ( for a machine delivered in Feb -for which they have to take into account dif. increase) might actually be a bad investment.

I am really hoping that Bitmain will re- evaluate the price point.

In terms of Avalon and Canaan - I am hopeful that they are going to be more sensible with their pricing , especially seeing how miners are reacting to the 2725 price that Bitmain announced.

I am not sure who said this but there really is not enough competition when it comes to actually manufacturing the machines... this is terrible

This is business 101 folks.

1) Find a need a fill it (ASIC miners)
2) Price it based on supply and demand (what we are seeing today)

Someone mentioned max order of 20? Interesting if true

It will be interesting to see how long it takes until they are sold out.

There's still going to be people that buy miners at even this price. If it sells out in a day or so expect prices to jump higher. Bitmain's trying to take all the money they can right now by feeling how much people are willing to spend for a long term pre-order.
