Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting here

Also, you must have made 1 post to send PMs.

Are you sure it's 25? My profile says 28 posts, and I just had my post privileges revoked in other forums. Sad

Ah, that explains it. I figured that the site was broken for a minute there! Bit annoying for me personally, but I agree with the idea.

Well, this forum just became useless pretty fast. At my posting rate I guess I'd be posting in the kiddie pool for six weeks before I could contribute to normal discussions? No thanks. It doesn't seem rational to require a bunch of spam posting just to post in a regular area, all that's going to do is encourage users that post a lot of garbage / low content posts quickly.

This is how forums deal with trolls:

Verify the email on signup.

Account and IP ban the bad posters.

MT Gox has a pretty detailed history available for that exchange. Bitcoin Charts has information from more exchanges.

For future reference, a new thread might have been a better place for that question.

I like how these rules were introduced but not announced in any other forum. I made my account in the wee hours this morning to discuss why people were comparing BTC to gold, and how that is going to cause the market to fall.

Looks like I was right. I think I'll forget about my account now.

That would of required effort, and they're obviously trying to stop the price plummeting, I guess one of the ways is to silence the trolls?

I just spent a good ten minutes looking in every forum, wondering why I was not able to post, until I stumbled on this one.

You guys should REALLY put up a sticky in AT LEAST the "Meta" forum.

Agreed - it was rather confusing when I attempted to continue a conversation and couldn't find the reply button. Some sort of announcement would be useful.

I'm currently trying to resolve a transaction gone bad. Frankly, I got scammed and not being able to send personal messages is not helping, as I have no other way to contact this person other than this forum. Could I at least have the messaging ban be lifted?

Yes something had to be done, Though my posts may have an element of whimsy, I actually do trade Quartz Crystals for BTC. I have only 19 posts or so, and the restriction will prevent me from negotiating via PM, I support bitcoin and what it represents, If you are able to grant me a little slack it' would be appreciated, but a few more posts in Newbies is not much to ask.

Hey.. Skype Me.. Beffjaker
see my website, PM if Interested, Thanks !

This price action is totally insane. About 5 minutes ago it was testing $10.50 now just hit upper $15s. As I type that back into the $14s. Was watching the depth charts or w/e and saw I assume 1 seller holding a constant sell pressure with $5-10k (USD) worth of bitcoins at the ask. Went away and was very light $ value of sell orders in place up to $14.50. I wonder if 1-2 people took out all those sells since it went from $10.50 to as high as about $16 in 5 minutes. Now back to $14.

Working on verifying my bank account for dwolla and will try trading on tradehill once able...having fun watching the volatility right now. Better to watch right now than dive in anyway. Hoping I get lucky it's under $10/BTC once I'm able to trade...
