This is beyond ridiculous. Can't the system take in to account length of account? Obviously I don't have a lot of posts but I've been here and I'm not a troll.
If there is a whitelist, I would like to be considered. Thank you.

Really guys, these drastic measures weren't made because of some random trolls. I have been on this forum non-stop for the last 10 hours, and even at the peak of trolls, there were only 3-4 active threads with porrly reasoned arguments going on.
The reason for these drastic measures, silencing new accounts, is because of people like me who came here and spoke honest trueth, well reasoned logic, and mental discipline to examining not only the bitcoin market, but the nature of bitcoin itself.
And you're going to see a lot more of it, this was just a temporary measure so they can try to get people to calm down and stop selling off so many BTC.
that was my first thought. a way to censor newer users and propaganda control.

Added to that, you think too highly of yourself. This is a forum about bitcoin, not bitcoin itself. The new rules don't exist to prevent you from talking your book, even though that is still bad form.
Possibly, however no one seemed to be able to form anything even remotely resembling a rebut to my questions, ripostes, arguments, assertions, or assumptions. A few tried. A few failed. I highly welcome and encourage you to peruse the posts in question and post your thought, if you can good Sir.

Due to spam?
Guess what you're going to get in the newbie section when people try to up their post count.
Heres a SANE idea : implement Captchas and Email verifications for new accounts.

I'd like to see how many trolls are mining at 1.7Ghash/sec
Yes! I'm mining at .6Gh! The last thing I've wanted to see is the price drop off, but it does seem inevitable given it's exponential rise the past month. So long as long term buyers come in, things will steady out - for a time - but until bitcoin goes beyond the price of an ounce of gold, I think this is what we must accept this volatility as the norm. There are people who are manipulating btc markets for their own gain, just as they do for most every market. BTC is more susceptible as it's not grounded to many other commodities. As for these restrictions being temporary - lol - that's what the control freaks in Washington said about the patriot act too.

No, it really was necessary. The forum was being overrun by trolls.
Then moderate the trolls and spam. It's very important to offer a sounding board for noobs. Also, it seems contrary to the open source and decentralized nature of the project.I'm very disappointed in your choice.

I would like to be white listed. The length of time that my account has existed and the quality of the few posts that I have made should make it clear that I am not and will not troll.

Dear Bitcoin community, Yesterday, I got involved in this discussion: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=14693.new;topicseen#newSince then I have effectivly been labeled a troll (having 'only' 22 posts) and prohited any chance to respond to reply to xf2_org's last mail. This is appearently how the Bitcoin community wants to deal with valid critique. I'm not going to risk this happening again by a forum that was set up by people who are possibly the same people that run this forum. If you think my critique is valid, I'm inviting you to join me on: http://forum.newbitcoin.org/I promise you that critique, valid or not, will never be censored.

Same as Zapeta here... I rarely post, but have lurked for 4 or so months now, only recently registered. In fact, in the past few days I felt I had enough background reading and experimentation done to finally start posting useful information/help/whatever to the various forums. Go figure! I can only hope this is a very temporary condition, as it will certainly remove folks like me from the community. Definitely a very effective way to kill interest for many newcomers... I have less than 1,000 posts on around a half dozen message boards throughout the Internet, all of which I've been a member since either the late 90's or early 2000's... I simply don't talk much! But when I do, I like to pretend it's at least somewhat valuable to someone I refuse to make a bunch of useless spam posts in this forum, simply to increase my post count so I can participate. Find a way to allow posting, without the need to generate useless spam perhaps? -Phil

The other restrictions may be reduced or eliminated later, once things have calmed down.

Again, any mod worth his salt could have easily locked threads, banned accounts, whatever.
This is the first good thought you've had. It goes against my instincts, but I guess your right, it is time to ban you for trolling. Ah the mighty creighto. What an honorable jest. Yes m'lord, please, ban those with contrary yet sapient views; make your life as blissful as a darling frolic in the tulips.

Although upsetting, I agree with the restriction. However, once a troll ...always a troll. There's no stopping these guys.

Oh don't worry, I already got a messaging warning that I had posted from this IP within the last 300 seconds. I mean, really? 1 post per 5 minute time span allowance? Brilliant, really. lmfao. Seems like it's gone, but don't be surprised if they implement it permanently.

Start your own forum and client. I am, this place is obviously run by forum administrators that lack managing a community of any significant size.
I am considering this as well. I do run a couple message boards centered around other subjects and the Bitcoin thread there are very active. If you do start one, PM me the link, please, if that is allowed for noobs.

Awesome, so now you're threatened with banning if you express an opinion a mod dislikes?
