Instead, I am encouraged to provide 50 irrelevant posts avery 5 minutes before i can be considered worthy of conversing with the "adults" of this forum.

If the assertion is that non-whitelisted newbies are distracting from the "adult" discussions of the other forums, the problem exacerbates itself here.  New users who want to have discussions are forced to participate in nonsense threads.  Sure, we could start reasonable threads in the newbie section, but the most likely result is that you'll get a series of replies by newbies who are simply trying to reach the magic post count number.  That makes it even less likely that anyone who has permissions to post/read elsewhere is going to bother to reply to a question asked here.

Existing merchants already have the numbers, and have the margins that we can afford to take a bit of a risk given that the script will just sit there and get in the black sooner or later. I've gotten interest from some friends in the local Asian business community. The issue is they're a skeptical and sometimes not very tech savvy bunch, and as soon as they hit the Newbie wall they'll lose interest. A forum specifically for merchants would be helpful and beneficial to the Bitcoin community as a whole. I don't think Bitcoin has much of a future unless it's accepted, and the kind of people with the decision making power to accept it just are not going to jump through the hoops that have been put in place.

What about a bitcoin Q&A site with Quora like functionality. Doesn't have to be only merchants, but common questions about BTC get asked, the best answers float to the top, and people could use it as a reference tool that might have more traction than the Wiki.

At this point my posts are being buried by Atlas as fast as I can make them- and he seems to have the support of the Mods. No point in continuing to contribute if they will do everything in their power to hide it.

I am not trying to censor you. My only goal is to make things clean so information can be accessed easier. We can't always be metaphysical.

Please explain how burying my three page thread in a 28 page thread is "cleaner" or easier to access?

Exactly, it was an attempt to bury the discussion by overwhelming it with chatter- otherwise you would not have tried locking the thread first.

Metaphysical discussion is not a top priority. We're here to help people with Bitcoin-related issues not what kind of paper it is on. I'm sorry your thread is deep within here but it's with similar discussion.

First, learn what a word means before you use it: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Metaphysical

Second, you are here to Moderate- to facilitate, not impede conversation. So far, with locking, then burying a relevant, articulate and detailed thread on an entirely different subject you have shown yourself grossly unqualified to Moderate.

You are impairing a substantive conversation because we are forced to try and have it between dozens of irrelevant posts- all while you feebly whine that they are about the same thing and that your the Mod so we have to listen to you.

The best way to moderate is through consensus- not force, and you lost any consensus and support you might have had pages back. Now we're just waiting for the rest of the Mod team to find a nice time and way to break the bad news to you.

The damage has been done. I hold some regrets but I wish there was a way to place your posts in the more recent part of the thread. If that was possible, there would be none.

I apologize.

I see my status updated from "newbe" to "Jr. Member" with 2 medals.  does that mean i am now free to post at will, or is there another indicator of such status?

No. If you have been on here for 4 hours and have 5 posts, you're good.

Just split out the relevant posts. I'm not even sure what this catchall thread is supposed to be for anymore.

Again, in an hour or two, you should be able to post elsewhere.

I apologize.

It was not the first- but the second attempt to censor that conversation so I don't find your sudden remorse particularly credible.

But as you said "the damage has been done"- meaning by all indications you are unable to fulfill your duties, so rather than risk additional errors at the expense of others the right thing would be to graciously resign your post as moderator.

I am sure you are very capable in other ways, but I'm equally sure you would agree after recent events this is clearly not where your aptitudes lie.

I just want to say that I am glad the post count bar has been lowered to 5.
Hopefully this will still prevent trolls from roaming free.

Well how about you propose a solution and submit a solution. No moderator is perfect. If you can find a perfect solution go ahead but if this is just theoretical debate. That is all it is theoretical debate.

What a horrific mess... Merging many topics together is a terrible idea (especially into a topic that was not meant for it).

No discussion can happen in this topic any more. If you want to respond to something, quote it and start a new topic.
