Hi - newcomer here, trying out bitcoin to find out what it is about etc. Interesting.

Using Ubuntu 12.04, bitcoin 0.80 Beta, QT4.8.1
I have gained a very small amount of coin from viewing and advert, so it works! :-)
That was yesterday.
Today, a re index was required and I have the warning:
'Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.'

I see the sync appears to be stuck at 22426 blocks remaining.

A few searches suggest that something like this has affected  mining with version 7 (?) I am not mining.
I find I am already using the latest version, and it worked ok yesterday. But I am inexperienced and  do not know what  I should be expecting.....

Comments would be appreciated, tia

Hey all. Skeptic-turned-fan of crypto-currencies here.

Got bit by the bit bug I guess you could say, by that I mean: you could say if you were slightly too large a fan of overly alliterative sentences.

Now I wouldn't say that. But you know, you could. I'll just stick with 'hey all' for now.

I man form far Russian region Ural. Mining bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies about two years, now my small mining farm has 4 GH.
My main work is gas distribution service, engineering of computers and telemetry. Hobby also about computers and electronics - I collect old calculation machines and early PC from junkstores and try to revive it, sometimes successfully.
I member of FIDONet since 1996 - old computer professionals may remember that "noncommercial worldwide network". My node 2:5080/205 still alive and not so long was the celebration of our network's 2:5080 21-st anniversary.

I am paradoxically pleased to hear that a FidoNet node is still active.

If I may ask, why paradoxically?

Just seems like one of those occasions where the choice of wording might belie an interesting backstory (but if you never ask you'll never know, amirite?).

I've been involved with bit coins on the peripheral for some time. Always lurked till now. Did some mining at the very beginning. Then got out of it as work picked up. These days I trade a bit and am in the process of getting a number of my e commerce clients setup to process it.
