There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. EWallets such as Coinbase are like banks -- a central organization has complete control over your money. You shouldn't put much money in EWallets.

I've been a Btc collector, but never an efficient miner (been CPU mining, shame on me). I should get a GPU soon.

Greetings!
I've actually known about Bitcoin since May-2012 but it has taken me
a some time to warp my brain around it and gain the confidence to start
devoting some serious time and or money to it.  I already had some knowledge
of the monetary system and its sordid history so I can
grasp the unprecedented uniqueness and value of Bitcoin.
I have gathered some information and placed it up on http://www.digital49ers.com .
There's some interesting articles there particularly for newbies and of course a link back to this forum.
I am a programmer and have done Unix system admin, database design, and some web development.
I prefer Python 2, Django, jQuery, json,  postgreSQL.

Hi, my Name is Andreas Witte.

I'm a solar engeneer and interested in any kind of infrastructure development and infrastructure politics.

Well I joined the bitcoin economy because it was the fastest and easiest way to transfer money internationally. Well, after getting in touch, I fell sort of in love with the Idea of bitcoin...

Hey everybody. I'm Husband. I've had my mining rig up and running for about a week and I'm at ~7 BTC so far.

Congrats!! Assuming that's the same 4 5830's you're mining with, how long did it take to earn those 7 coins?

hello everyone, I started mining in 2011 and have been reading in BTC-Forums since then, so I thought it might be the time for making an account here.

Hello everyone, my journey to bitcoin started in 2009 when I took small adjustable rate mortgage to buy a flat in Czech Republic. Before economics, finance and politics were of little interest to me. It all started with asking myself: "How do the rates get decided?", which actually become a rabbit hole into the Alice in Wonderland world for me. When I first heard of bitcoin in June 2011, I already know enough about what money is and how value is created on individual and society level to see that bitcoin is a gamechanger. After nearly two year of additional extensive reading and thinking, I am only more conviced of that.
