Hello all. I'm a newbie to the forum, because I procrastinated on making an account. I've been pool mining with a GPU for the past couple of months, however, and watching Bitcoin explode with interest and excitement. Most of my bitcoin usage thus far has been to dink around on the SealsWithClubs poker site, though once I've accumulated a bit more BTC I plan to use some of it in other ways as well.

HEEEEEEEELP!!!
I couldn't work out how to post in another forum topic so here I am.
Can someone help me?
About 2 years ago I setup bitcoin and I'm pretty sure I mined about 10 bitcoins. I saved the eallet.dat file back then and it's about 800k in size. Yesterday I decided to get back into mining and installed the latest bitcoin client miner and wallet apps on my pc.
When I ran the wallet app, it said my wallet was out of sync and I let it sync up but it says I have 0 bitcoins. As I said, I'm sure I had 10.
Is it possible that because I've used a new username and password for bitcoin miner that it's not getting the correct data from the wallet?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
xenonex

Greetings everyone! I first heard about Bitcoins a couple years ago. Wish I would have set up an account then, but I figure I'm still pretty early to this revolution!

Hi all! I just downloaded the bitwallet app, getting a Butterfly labs Single (whenever the hell it finally gets shipped ) and WAS trying to get in on the action before it boomed again. But seeing as today it jumped to 70 bucks a bitcoin, I think I might be a little late. I'm kicking myself in the arse because I originally found out about bitcoin in 2010 and was like "oh, that's pretty neat!" then my computer crashed (damn you DELL!) and I totally forgot about it. Oh well, I really support the idea of Bitcoin and hope it proves a better investment then the stock market (which I lost about 6 G in last year).

Hey, bit coins seem like a pretty good idea, and now I'm here. I invested today, after being first exposed to bit coins in July 11. They kind seemed like a bad investment just then, but now I wish I would have bought a ton then.

Well, hello everyone. I've had a forum account for ages, but apparently haven't posted much; I've also been around online for ages, as a quick Google search would confirm. On IRC (Freenode and OFTC) I go by idnar, I'm also registered at #bitcoin-otc (PM me if you require proof that this is my account).

I also just realized I apparently spend WAY too much time on Facebook.... I read someone's humorous post up above, and started to look for the "Like" button. :-p

Hi!
We're all the geek/tech version of those investors/bankers/wall street people, only without the pretense and alot of excitement. Glad to meet you all! I'll be here to sell a few goodies, digital things for now. May even get into actual trading and investing. A fun world this is! All the fun of economics without the pretentious and confusing language that make the existing economic systems so boring.
Really digging this anonymous payments thing! Really opens the doors to a lot of opportunities!!!

Hi all, miner and hobbyist from Pacific NW. I plan on starting an SEC/FinCEN compliant managed bitcoin fund that sells BTC fixed-rate debt instruments backed by the fund's earnings. Currently, the fund's equity is over $250, and has a pending order for a BFL Jalapeno. The funds activities will include arbitrage, Ichimoku style speculation, and mining.
