don't be so negative, the 50-post-rule is there for a reason: to get rid of the trolls. NOT to piss newcomers off.

Worth noting that something can "be there for a reason" and still be insulting and demeaning BUT that said five posts is tollerable.

I'm Jono and I work in the IT field*.  I've started to mine BTC as an experiment for covering the power/cooling and carbon offset of my folding rig.

*sometimes it feels like my real job is correcting people's math.

I'm rather good with Linux.  If you're having problems with your mining rig I'll help you out remotely for 0.05.  You can also propose a flat-rate for some particular task.  PM me for details.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I must admit, I am slightly less prone to hand out free loot to someone that does not know how to spell "opportunity"....twice.

Hello,

I just started mining Bitcoin last week. I now have 3 5850 and 1 6870 running. the 6870 is disappointing though at only 250M/Hash.

Hi, I'm actor Troy McClure. You may remember from such economic education films as "Why you owe everything to Alan Greenspan" and "The Miracle of the Broken Window".

But today I'm here to tell you about an evil drug dealer run ponzi scheme called Bitcoin.

Ha ha, point taken. I need to memorize that spelling, because it always takes me 5 tries to fix the spelling when Firefox underlines it. I actually noticed it just before posting, but it was after I signed the message, so fixing it would have meant signing it again.

I don't see the point to PGP signing every message, but I figure that it is a basic identity that I can offer as proof that I'm not a spammer. It might take longer to prove that I'm not an idiot, however!

Q: Why did the newbie post on the forum board?
A: Because even a chicken can make 5 forum posts!

Obviously, my sense of humor sucks too, but at least I'm not batman!

I thank you and congratulate you on knowing your limits.  I didn't mention "peirce" because I before E except when they bloody well say its the other way around catches me too sometimes.  I do not care for arbitrary rules.  The world is full of arbitrary rules.  Strange land.

J'y suis, j'y reste until I decide that being promoted to Junior Member is an acceptable position.  If I may wax paranoid, it seems to me that collecting a boatload of bloody brilliant people by using USG "free" money to retain them in the interest of Intelligence must inevitably end up with a large collection of criminal elements.  That is to say, our intelligence agencies end up with a high proportion of measurable psychopaths.  Damn shame.  But their actions belie their P.R.  As usual, I am thinking aloud.

Introduce myself? So you can identify me from my typing pattern and link it to my bitcoin address? I don't think so!

I find it fascinating that the June 15th variety of Anon has a website and asks you to sign in.  How....anonymous.

Hey everybody, I finally decided to register for the forum so I can participate in the discussion and share and receive assistance.  I'm currently mining with two non-reference 6950s, getting a total of 555 Mhash/s due to one card running at 70% capacity due to heat.  My high-powered fan setup is on the way.

Looking forward to sharing what I've learned and learning from others!

Sounds hi-tech!  Grin

Hey guys, I'm not really sure if I'm cut out for mining, too technical for me atm. Also I'm reluctant to send actual money to people for this form of currency...

Is their any way I can get btc by doing things I already do for lazinesses sake? (Right now my main source of income is mailing people items through big name internet retailers like ebay)

Hello. I find the animated icons in the forum post editor to be very annoying when I RDP to my machine at home to use the forum.
