Hello
I'm currently running a ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer with a Sapphire Toxic HD 5850. Just started mining with BitMinter and so far made 2 bitcoins! Looking forward to stay awhile.

I'm Jeff from the US. I've been mining for a few months (first with Ars, now with Eclipse). I'm generally not one to post much, so newbiedom will likely be an eternal purgatory for me.

Jeff, I'm curious. What made you choose Eclipse over the others? I've only tried a handful of pools, but I liked the following about Eclipse: - Low stale rate and low rate of cgminer waiting on work
- Nice UI
- No mandatory fee
- Hopping-proof payout method (though most pools seem to have that nowadays)
- Active and enthusiastic administrator

Hey everyone, I am interested in bitcoin mining. I haven't been a big hardware guy up to now. Mostly into SEO software and building websites for profit. But am inspired by the concept of electricity consumption to digital currency arbitrage. Skipping the whole marketing and selling steps.
May be a challenge here in Japan, with electricity at about 27cents per KWh. Any one in Japan running profitable rigs?
Or will have to figure out how to remote mine. And set up a rig back in Canada 7 or 8 cents per KWh.

Hi all
I'm interested in cryptography and hashing algorithms. I found bitcoin because a collegue told me about it. At the moment I'm not active in mining but am interested in the fpga bitcoin mining.

Welcome aboard, Buckets! And everyone else who has joined recently. With your electricity costs, you may want to consider mining with FPGAs. Besides the much lower power usage per hash, they require less space and fewer computers to run them than what any sizeable amount of video card hashing would. A list of some of the available FPGA units can be seen here; http://bitcoinfpga.com/ Not to mention, using less electricity to find blocks is more eco friendly as well. Cheers, Derek

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA
